- the invention proposes in a method of the type mentioned at the outset that an initial zone of the edge section with the flanging die is first rolled in a form-fitting manner by an automatically controlled tool before the rolled edge is actually manufactured.
- the sheet already has a controlled geometry with the desired radius in the critical starting zone. Kinking is avoided. In the subsequent forming step, it is possible to produce a rolled edge that is more regular and constant in its geometry.
- Controlled rolling also causes tensile stresses caused by the expansion of the sheet during rolling to spread more evenly over the circumference distribute the sheet edge and thus the risk of radial cracks in the sheet is reduced. This increases process reliability, which is particularly important and advantageous again in aerosol dome production.

- the hold-down device 33 moves down together with the counter-holders 34 as far as it will go with an annular rim 16 of the aerosol dome. Then the slider 35 are moved down to the hold-down 33. By being coupled to the counter-holders 34 via an inclined surface, they push the counter-holders 34 radially inwards into the end position shown for the stamping process.
- the right part of FIG. 4 shows the roll-on punch 31 in its end position. When the roll-on punch 31 is moved between its start and end positions, a start section 14 of the pipe section 1 is rolled on and provided with the radius 32. Then the roll-on ram 31 is withdrawn again from the tube section, the slides 35 are moved upward, the counterholders 34 are moved radially outward, the hold-down device 33 is moved upward and the aerosol dome 10 is thereby released.
- the aerosol dome 10 or its tube section 11 can then be further shaped analogously to the method already explained with reference to FIGS. 1 and 2, FIG. 6 showing a representation corresponding to FIG. 1.
- the rolled-on starting zone 14 of the pipe section 11 already fits flush with the radius 22 of the flanging die 21 in the starting position shown on the left.
- the radii 22 of the flanging die 21 on the one hand and 32 of the rolling die 31 are preferably dimensioned the same.
