Definitions
- the present invention relates to a visor helmet retractable with quick reconfiguration day / night.
- a helmet for an aircraft pilot, in particular a weapons plane, is in general multifunctional and is equipped with visors (see for example EP-A-0 290 293).
- a helmet includes a rigid shell that usually surrounds the top, the back and the parts lateral of the skull of the wearer.
- the headset usually has visors through which the wearer of the helmet can see his environment; these visors are most often retractable towards the top of the skull and provide facial protection against various aggressions (wind, dust, light or violent lighting, etc ).
- a dark visor arranged the closest to the face and retractable inside the helmet, for protect against violent lighting especially for day vision.
- a clear visor is provided retractable mounted on the shell of the helmet outside and lockable in folded position.
- a clear visor is provided retractable mounted on the shell of the helmet outside and lockable in folded position.
- the obstruction of such equipment forbids the ability to lower the clear day visor.
- a very important problem that arises for all helmets is that of the weight carried away when a pilot ejection is necessary or in case violent shock (crushing of the aircraft for example). Indeed, during a ejection it is absolutely essential that the pilot's face be protected by a folded visor.
- the weight of the functional elements added to the helmet and their positioning tend to dangerous for the driver's neck in case of strong accelerations, as during an ejection, and we must avoid adding elements additional, especially located away from the natural center of gravity of the bareheaded and pilot's neck.
- a solution currently recommended in case of driver ejection is to eject the night vision equipment and then lower the clear visor of day before ejection of the pilot. But an important disadvantage is that driver ejection must be prepared. We could plan to keep night vision equipment with a third clear visor arranged front to protect the face of the driver in case of ejection. This would allow an unprepared ejection. But the mass added to the helmet and the offset of center of gravity would then become prohibitive (we add 5 to 10% by weight the helmet with a large lever arm relative to the driver's neck).
- the solution envisaged is therefore to provide only two visors (a light, a dark) regardless of the use day or night.
- the invention provides for adapting the standard helmet in order to allow a quick reconfiguration by replacing a day visor does not not degrading the ergonomics of the standard helmet by a night module incorporating night vision equipment and a clear visor forward lockable equipment in the down position. This is done according to the invention using visor or night module joints on the helmet, removable without tools.
- a visor helmet comprising a hull including a sagittal guide rail with a central opening, characterized in that it comprises a retractable day visor or a night module incorporating night vision equipment and a visor retractable on the front of this equipment, the day visor and night being interchangeable quickly and without tools and having a part upper central cooperating with said guide rail and arms side symmetrically equipped each with a hinge on the hull of the helmet removable without tools and in that each of said joints around a common axis of rotation comprises a first integral part of the shell, having at least one guide boss in one direction predetermined perpendicular to said axis of rotation and a groove periphery, and a second part integral with the arm, comprising at least a locking lever articulated in said second part to come to block in said groove.
- the object of the invention is to ability to use standard headphones with night vision equipment while allowing unprepared ejection and without any degradation of ergonomics in day configuration.
- ejection case it is imperative that the helmet wearer's face is protected by a visor.
- the clear day visor In a standard helmet, the clear day visor, arranged in front of the helmet compared to the tinted visor is far too close to driver's face to allow insertion of night vision equipment between the face and the day visor.
- Figure 1 is a view of a helmet adapted to give it the ability to alternate quickly and without tools between day and night configuration. For this, we remove the outer (clear) day visor and the lateral mechanisms of this visor to leave on the hull 1 of the headphones that rotate 4 axes and the control knobs 3 of the tinted inner visor whose control mechanism will not be more described because it is not modified.
- a first part of removable joints arranged symmetrically on both sides of the helmet comprises, in addition to the axis of rotation 4, a support part 2 and guided guidance around the axis 4 and screwed on the hull 1. In position, this piece 2 comprises a support face turned towards the outside and perpendicular to the axis of rotation and having a guiding boss, as we will see later.
- the helmet is also equipped with a rail sagittal guide 10 with a central opening 11 and notches 12 of locking the equipment in the down position.
- Figures 2A and 2B show a removable hinge without tools for articulating a side arm 8 of a day visor or a module at night on the shell 1 of the helmet.
- the piece 2 carries on its bearing surface 22 a guide boss 20 extending along a predetermined direction perpendicular to the axis of rotation 4 ( Figure 1) and included in a plane containing the axes of rotation and the center of the central opening 11 of the rail 10.
- the articulation comprises a second part secured to the arm 8 and comprising an intermediate piece 5, a spacer piece 7 and a lever of
- the intermediate piece 5 in the form of a washer is provided with a peripheral groove 50 and a slot 51 extending from the center to the periphery of the intermediate piece.
- This slot has dimensions and a adapted to those of the boss 20 so that when the piece 5 bears on the bearing surface 22, the boss 20 is engaged in the slot 51 and provides a rotational locking of the part 5.
- the latter is provided with a lever 6 of semi-circular general shape pivoting around a pivot 61 disposed in the groove 50 opposite the slot 51.
- the boss 20 comprises, as seen in detail A of Figure 2B, a groove 21 outer periphery aligning with the groove 50 of the piece 5 when it is resting on the support piece 2.
- the inner edge 60 of the lever 6 comes, in locking position, fit into the part of the groove 50 vis-à-vis and in the groove 21 of the boss.
- the intermediate piece 7 comprises a slot 70 parallel to the direction of the slot 51 of the intermediate piece 5 and extending from the center of the room 7 at its periphery with dimensions such that it allows the passage of the axis of rotation 4 and the centering on this axis in position of locking the joint.
- the intermediate piece 7 also comprises a pivot centered 71, engaging in a corresponding housing of the arm 8 for allow and guide a limited rotation of the arm 8 relative to the parts 5 and 7.
- the arm 8 has a slot 81 of the same dimensions as the slot 70 and aligned therewith in the unlocked position.
- Fixing means ensure the joining of parts 5 and 7 with the arm 8 while allowing limited rotation of the arm 8 relative to to pieces 5, 7.
- screws 9 are screwed on the intermediate piece 5 through piece 7 and oblong holes 80 drilled in the arm 8, in the shape of an arc of a circle centered on the axis of rotation 4 in locked position.
- Figure 2B shows in section all these parts in position locked. Having described these joints, Figure 3 shows the docking a day visor 15 on the helmet.
- the upper mechanism 16 of the visor is passed through the central opening of the rail at the same time as the piece 5 secured to the visor comes to guide the boss of the room 2 secured to the helmet.
- the slots 51, 70 and 81 pass the axis of rotation 4.
- Figure 4 illustrates the locking sequence of a joint, only the parts 2 and 5 and the lever 6 being represented, the part 5 being in cut in steps b) to d).
- step a) only shows how the lever 6 was initially assembled in part 5.
- step b) shows the beginning the docking of the visor on the helmet in the F2 direction.
- the end of lever 6 has an inclined plane 62 which comes into contact with the boss 20 and pushes the lever 6 towards the dotted position according to the arrow F3.
- step c) the slot 51 begins to engage the boss 20 according to the direction of movement F4.
- step d) when the commitment is fully realized, the locking is done by acting on the lever 6 in the direction of the arrow F5.
- Figure 5 shows the adapted helmet with its clear day visor climb.
- the visor 15 then occupies the same position as a day visor standard and can be manipulated in the central part and come to lock in low position on the notches 12 ( Figure 1) of the rail. So we see that we can easily mount or dismount the visor without tools. Disassembly by raising the visor to the level of the central opening of the rail and manually unlocking the two levers 6. During the movement of the visor up, the slit 81 of the arms 8 came to recover coincidence with the slots 51 and 70 to release the axes of rotation 4.
- FIG. 6 shows the architecture night configuration.
- the night module includes a crest 30 with its side arms fixed to the helmet 1 by joints 32 identical to those already described.
- the crest is equipped with the same locking mechanism higher than the visor, cooperating with the rail 10.
- the clear visor 31 supported by the crest is further away from the face of the helmet wearer to be able to lock in front of the night vision equipment.
- Reception of night vision equipment is then as shown in Figure 8.
- the visor 31 and the crest 30 are in position high where they are held only by friction at the axes of rotation of the lateral joints.
- We then present the vision equipment nocturnal 40 which, by its piece 41 for example in dovetail, comes lock on the helmet 1. Once mounted, this equipment leaves the possibility to the visor 31 to fall back in front of him and to lock in low position in the notches of the rail, which is essential to guarantee the holding the visor during an ejection that does not require any preparation.
- the described embodiments are not limiting of the invention.
- the invention makes it possible to conserve day configuration a footprint and ergonomics identical to those of a standard helmet although the clear day visor has become Modular.
