  • the press temperature must be included between 150 and 210°C and the pressing pressure must be included between 20 and 40 kg/cm 2 .
  • the temperature in the cooling unit must be included between 20 and 60°C. It was found advantageous for the cooling plates to be pushed onto the pack surfaces to a pressure in the range of 1 to 2 kg/cm 2 .
  • the heated press is advantageously maintained closed on the pack for a period of time of 10 to 40 seconds, whereas the cooled plates are maintained closed on the pack for a period of time of 5 to 35 seconds.
  • the surface temperature of the panels immediately after they come out of the press is therefore approximately 100-150°C and the temperature conveniently reached on the panel surface before piling up of said panels is less than 50-70°C.
  • the cooling unit 12 comprises means 20 for suction of the fumes emitted from the pack disposed between the cooled plates.
  • This suction means is operated at least before closure of the cooled plates, to remove possible fumes before they may condense due to cooling of the pack. It was found in fact that condensate causes deformation and unacceptable spots on the finished product.
  • the suction means is disposed around at least part of the periphery of the upper cooled plate and comprises a pipeline 21 disposed along the edge of the upper plate and provided with a plurality of holes 22 for forced suction.
  • suction means it was also found advantageous for the suction means to be maintained in operation after closure of the cooled plates too, so as to capture the residual fumes that may be emitted from the edge of the pack submitted to cooling.
