Definitions

  • the invention relates to a connector part of an electrical connector, with an electrical contact part, which is housed at least partially in a protective housing, which comprises a longitudinally extending and plugging direction extending, vault-like or raised lid in which a window is recessed, at one end delimited by a locking element and in which a cooperating with this locking element, a connector housing of the connector part associated latching arm can be latched.
  • a connector part of this kind is from the EP-A-0 971 446 known.
  • Such a connector part is mated with a second connector part of the electrical connector to make the respective connections.
  • the connector parts can thus serve, for example in motor vehicles, to create a plug connection between two electrical lines.
  • the aim of the invention is to provide an improved connector part of the type mentioned, in which the aforementioned disadvantages are eliminated.
  • a connector part of an electrical connector with an electrical contact part, which is at least partially housed in a protective housing which comprises a longitudinally extending and plugging direction extending, vault-like or raised lid in which a window is recessed, the delimited at one end by a latching element and in which a latching element interacting with this latching element, which is assigned to a plug housing of the connector part, can be latched, the side walls of the arched or raised lid being recessed with the window.
  • the locking arm of the connector housing can be made wider without these side walls, resulting in a more reliable locking.
  • a plug housing with a further latching arm can be made easier, so that correspondingly simpler plastic injection tools or the like can be used, whereby the tool costs and maintenance costs are reduced accordingly.
  • the cooperating with the latching detent element can be made stronger or reinforced.
  • a reinforced locking element and an adjustable, ie, for example, according set deeper protective surface to protect the electrical contact member from contact by the locking arm can be ensured that the contact part or the protective housing only by using a high force can be pulled out of the generally made of plastic connector housing.
  • the side walls of the protective housing adjoining the lid are at least partially recessed in the region of the window.
  • the cooperating with the latching arm of the plug housing latching element may be performed in particular bow-like.
  • the locking element can be made reinforced.
  • the locking element can thus be designed in particular so that there is a larger cooperating with the locking arm locking surface.
  • the latching arm is at least substantially as wide as the window.
  • the latching arm may in particular have a latching nose entering the window.
  • at least the locking lug is expediently initially substantially as wide as the window.
  • the protective housing in the region of the window has a protective surface in order to prevent contact of the electrical contact part by the latching arm or its locking lug.
  • This protective surface is preferably adjustable or positioned in its height so as to give the desired penetration depth for the latching arm or its latching lug.
  • the latching arm or its locking lug can rest on the protective surface after it has latched into the window.
  • protective housing is preferably made of spring steel.
  • the plug housing is suitably made of plastic.
  • the electrical contact part is preferably made of a highly conductive material such as in particular copper or a copper alloy.
  • the electrical contact part may, for example, comprise at least one bushing section housed in the protective housing.
  • the electrical contact part may comprise at least one connection section located outside the protective housing.
  • Such a connection portion may be formed, for example, as a crimping area or the like. In principle, however, other connection sections are conceivable.
  • the protective housing is sleeve-shaped and can be plugged onto the electrical contact part or its socket section.
  • the protective housing may be provided at one end with guide tabs, which form a guide channel for a plug-in contact, which is upstream of an insertion opening of the electrical contact part or the female portion.
  • guide tabs which form a guide channel for a plug-in contact, which is upstream of an insertion opening of the electrical contact part or the female portion.
  • the protective housing is preferably formed as a one-piece stamped / bent part, which allows a particularly simple and economical production of this protective housing.
  • the electrical contact part is expediently designed as a one-piece stamped / bent part.
  • Figures 1 and 2 show in different perspective views the partially housed in a protective housing 10 electrical contact part 12 of a connector part 14 (see also Fig. 5) of an electrical connector.
  • FIGS. 3 and 4 show, in different perspective views, the protective housing 10, which can be inserted into a plug housing 16 (see also FIG. 5) of the connector part 14.
  • a modified embodiment of the protective housing is shown in FIG.
  • the connector part 14 can be plugged together with a second connector part of the electrical connector to provide, for example, a plug connection between two electrical lines.
  • the protective housing 10 comprises a lid 18 which extends in the longitudinal direction and plug-in direction S, in particular a vault-like or raised lid 18.
  • a window 20 is recessed in this lid 18, which is delimited at one end by a latching element 22 and into which a latching element 22 cooperates.
  • the latching housing 24 associated latching arm 24 is latched (see, in particular Fig. 5).
  • the lid 18, for example, curved side walls 26 and a flat top wall 28 include, ie, in particular, be executed arched or raised.
  • the window 20 now not only the upper flat wall 28 but also the side walls 26 of the lid 18 are recessed.
  • the side walls 26 of the protective housing 10 adjoining the cover 18 are also partially recessed.
  • the latching arm 24 of the plug housing 16 can be made correspondingly wider, resulting in a more reliable locking.
  • the wider locking arm 24 the production of the relevant plastic injection molding tool is simplified, whereby the tool and service costs are reduced accordingly.
  • the locking element 22 can now be made correspondingly stronger, in particular, a larger cooperating with the locking arm 24 locking surface 22 '(see, in particular Fig. 4) results.
  • the latch arm 24 may be at least substantially as wide as the window 20. He has in the present case a entering into the window 20, with the locking surface 22 'of the locking element 22 cooperating detent 24'.
  • the protective housing 10 may have a protective surface 32 (cf., in particular, FIG. 4) in order to prevent contact of the electrical contact part 12 with the latching arm 24 or its latching lug 24 '.
  • a protective surface 32 (cf., in particular, FIG. 4) in order to prevent contact of the electrical contact part 12 with the latching arm 24 or its latching lug 24 '.
  • This protective surface 32 can now also be set lower at will, whereby the latching arm 24 and the latching lug 24 'can penetrate deeper into the window 20, whereby the reliability of the latching connection is increased accordingly.
  • deeper positionable protective surface 32 ensures that a withdrawal of the electrical contact member 12 and the protective housing 10 from the connector housing 16 is possible only by applying a high force.
  • the protective housing 10 may consist in particular of spring steel and the connector housing 16 in particular made of plastic.
  • the electrical contact part 12 consists of a highly conductive material, which may be in particular copper or a copper alloy.
  • the electrical contact part 12 may comprise at least one socket section 34 accommodated in the protective housing 10 and at least one connection section 36 located outside the protective housing 10.
  • the terminal portion 36 is formed as a crimping region.
  • the sleeve-shaped protective housing 10 can be plugged onto the socket section 34 of the electrical contact part 12.
  • the protective housing 10 may be provided at its end facing away from the connection portion 36 with guide tabs 38 which form a guide channel for a respective plug-in contact, an insertion opening 40 (see also FIG. 1) of the electrical contact part 12 or of the socket section 34.
  • the protective housing 10 may be formed as a one-piece stamped / bent part.
  • the electrical contact part 12 is preferably designed as a one-piece punched / bent part.
  • the cover 18 of the preferably made of plastic plug housing 16 may in principle be designed differently than arched or raised.
