Definitions

  • Luminaires with the identification "Ex” are intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres and are used, for example, on drilling platforms or gas tankers. In the event of an explosion inside the luminaire, no explosive sparks may escape to the outside.
  • a tube is usually provided, which is preferably closed at both ends by covers and lid, which prevent an explosion of explosion sparks in an explosion. The construction of the transition between the hollow body and the respective cover on at least one end is of great importance for the pressure resistance of the luminaire.
  • luminaires with explosion-proof encapsulation according to the European standard EN 50014/50018 - luminaires of the type "E Ex d" - and preferably in connection with the use of "II B" and the degree of protection IP67 are addressed.
  • two or more fluorescent lamps e.g., 18 or 36 watt and 230 volt / 50 hertz lamps
  • holding means, supply line and a ballast are arranged inside the lamp.
  • the inner wall is inclined by 4 ° relative to the outer wall with a tolerance of +/- 4 ° corresponding to a total inclination of 0 ° to 8 °.
  • the inner wall and outer wall are inclined by about 0 ° to 4 °. The decreasing width of the recess or groove results surprisingly favorable pressure conditions within the recess or groove.
  • a free edge of the opening of the hollow body thus sits in the manner of a groove circumferential recess.
  • the groove is formed significantly wider than would be required for insertion of the circumferential wall.
  • the unfilled by the circumferential wall volume of the circumferential recess is at least partially filled on both sides by a potting compound.
  • This has adhesive and sealing function and should be selected accordingly.
  • outer gap or inner gap are completely filled with the potting compound.
  • the width of the outer gap corresponds approximately to the width of the inner gap or is slightly larger, in particular up to twice as large. Accordingly, in the outer gap with complete filling at most twice as much potting compound as in the inner gap can be introduced.
  • the free edge of the opening of the hollow body preferably has an opening-side end face - between the opening-side outer surface and the opening-side inner surface - in particular comes to lie with this on a bottom of the circumferential recess.
  • the opening has a circular cross-section. Accordingly, then follows the circumferential depression of a circular shape.
  • the peripheral wall or the free edge of the opening extends parallel to a main longitudinal axis of the hollow body or parallel to an axis passing through a center of the opening.
  • FIG. 1 A not completely complete luminaire 10 is shown in FIG. 1 in a perspective view.
  • a cylindrical, translucent tube made of plastic, here made of polycarbonate, each with an opening 14 at each end and a cover 16 on the opening 14.
  • the internal structure of the lamp 10 namely bulbs, holding means, ballast and cable feeders.
  • the luminaire 10 is designed as an E Ex d luminaire with degree of protection IP67 according to European standards EN 50014/50018.
  • the cover 16 is preferably made of a seawater-resistant material, such as the alloy G-Al Mg 5 Si.
  • the tube 12 has an outer diameter of about 15 cm; Overall, the luminaire 10 extends over about 75 cm (single length) or about 140 cm (double the length). Adapted to this are selection and number of bulbs.
  • the single-length lamp preferably contains one or more fluorescent lamps of the minimum total power of 36 watts.
  • the supply voltage is preferably 230 volts at 50 hertz.
  • FIG. 2 shows the connection of the cover 16 with the tube 12.
  • cover 16 In two provided at the opposite openings 14 covers 16 they are pulled by tie rods 18 against each other.
  • the tie rods 18 are arranged parallel to a main longitudinal axis 20 of the lamp 10 in the interior of the tube 12.
  • Each cover 16 has on an inner circumference 22 two eyes 24, which lie just below the main longitudinal axis 20 opposite each other, see FIG. 4.
  • the tie rods 18 are passed with their ends through the eyes 24 and secured with screws 26, 28 twice. Between cover 16 and tube 12, a sealing ring 30 or guard ring is arranged. The connection between the cover 16 and the tube 12 shown in FIG. 2 is provided at both ends of the tube 12. By tightening the nuts 26 in both covers 16, they are pressed against the tube 12.
  • the cover 16 is constructed in a special way.
  • Fig. 3 shows the side facing away from the viewer in Figures 2 and 4 of the cover 16.
  • Recognizable is a circumferential recess 32 in the manner of a groove having an inner wall 34, an outer wall 36 and an intermediate circumferential bottom 38th
  • Inner wall 34 and outer wall 36 do not extend exactly parallel to the main longitudinal axis 20. Rather, both walls are slightly inclined to the main longitudinal axis, preferably by 2 °, so that an inclination of the two walls 34, 36 against each other of about 4 ° results. Deviations of the total inclination of +/- 4 ° are possible in particular. Also, one of the walls, such as the inner wall 34 may be aligned parallel to the main longitudinal axis 20, while the other wall - in this case the outer wall 36 - is arranged inclined thereto.
  • the described inclination of the walls 34, 36 to each other causes a conical shape of the cross section of the recess 32 such that the width of the recess 32 to the bottom 38 increases. This achieves a better hold of the tube 12 in the recess 32.
  • the tube 12 is seated with a circumferential wall 40 in the recess 32.
  • the circumferential wall 40 has an opening-side inner surface 42 and an outer surface 44 opposite thereto and an opening-side end surface 46. This is preferably at the bottom 38.
  • the recess 32 with a potting compound 48 (in Fig. 6 hatched drawn) filled.
  • the width of the recess 32 is a multiple - preferably three times - the thickness of the circumferential wall 40.
  • Inner diameter and outer diameter of the recess 32 are tuned so that between the inner wall 34 and the inner surface 42, an inner gap 50 and between the outer wall 36 and outer surface 44, an outer gap 52 are formed.
  • Inner gap 50 and outer gap 52 have approximately the same width or a similar volume and are each completely filled with the potting compound 48.
  • the sealing of the circumferential wall 40 in the recess 32 with the potting compound 48 arranged on both sides is particularly pressure-resistant. Only then is it possible to classify it as an E Ex d luminaire.
  • FIG. 5 shows an internal thread 56 on an open side 54 facing away from the depression 32.
  • An external thread of a cover, not shown, for closing the cover 16 is screwed into this.
  • Explosion protection results from the design of the thread according to the European standards mentioned above.
  • potting compound 48 is preferably a bonding sealant manufacturer Dow Corning, namely Dow Corning 933 with associated curing agent Dow Corning 993 and suitable primer used.
  • Tube 12 and covers 16 are formed in the region of their connections substantially rotationally symmetrical. This is advantageous but not mandatory for the principle of the present invention. Deviations from the circular cross section are possible, such as oval, semicircular or rectangular cross-sections.
  • hollow body such as a one - sided (or single - ended) open body, a spherical or teardrop shape. Important is the double-sided sealing of the circumferential wall 40 in the recess 32nd
  • the specified electrical quantities can be modified or adjusted as needed and country-specific regulations. Also, further fluorescent lamps or other lighting means may be provided inside the tube 12.
  • Suitable clamps may include the tube 12 or be connected to the covers 16.
