Definitions
- the present invention relates to a method for generating a print image, in particular a franking imprint, on a first image carrier at least a first partial image and one transverse to a first direction thereto staggered second field in which to generate the first field in a first step along a first direction a relative movement is generated between a first print head and the first image carrier, in a second step, a transverse offset between the first print head and the first image carrier in a second direction transverse to the first direction Direction is generated and in a third step to generate the second Partial a relative movement between the first print head and the first image carrier is generated along the first direction. It continues to affect a corresponding device for performing this method.
- Such a method or device is known, for example, from US Pat EP 0 980 762 A1, in which the print head has a franking imprint a letter created in two cross-staggered partial images, the one another complete a complete franking imprint on the letter.
- the printhead is initially moved and generated in a first direction over the letter the first drawing file. Then, in the second step, it is over a Displacement device offset transversely to this first direction before it in the third step is carried out against the first direction over the letter, whereby he then creates the second drawing on the letter.
- One possibility of manipulation is in connection with the known one Franking machine in that the control data for the control of the nozzles the print head due to fraudulent manipulations on the franking machine be tapped and parallel in a so-called parallel attack to be forwarded to multiple printing facilities at the same time and generate the same franking imprint.
- the present invention is therefore based on the object of a method or to provide a device of the type mentioned at the outset, which is simply the risk of such fraudulent manipulation reduced.
- This task is based on a method according to the preamble of claim 1 by those specified in the characterizing part of claim 1 Features resolved. Furthermore, it starts from a device according to the preamble of claim 7 by the in the characterizing part of claim 7 specified features solved.
- the present invention is based on the technical teaching that one the risk of a successful so-called parallel attack, i.e. the production several copies of one and the same franking imprint with parallel switched printing devices, simply by reducing that Waiting time interval between the end of printing of the first step and the beginning of the printing process of the third step one after a predetermined one Function has varying length.
- a parallel connection is fraudulently connected Printing device by the time varying according to the specified function between the end of the printing process in the first step and the beginning the printing process in the third step the synchronization between the control of the relative movement between the print head and image carrier Drive with the control of the print elements of the print head difficult.
- the relevant print image on a parallel printing device reproduce, since the information regarding the control of the Drive missing. It is much more difficult or impossible to obtain, since the drive control and the motor are inaccessible in the safe housing part the franking machine are housed.
- the specified function is selected so that it follows a variation scheme, the pattern of which is at the earliest sufficient repeated a large number of variations, e.g. at the earliest after several a hundred or a thousand variations.
- the predetermined function is preferred accordingly designed in the manner of a random function. To do this, it can so-called pseudo-random function, in which the variation pattern repeated at the earliest after several hundred thousand variations, so that capturing the variation pattern is not worthwhile for a fraudster. More preferably the given function is a real random function.
- a fraudster If a fraudster nevertheless attempts such a parallel attack, he will usually receive a printout with a printing device connected in parallel, in which the two partial images are offset to one another by a more or less large amount along the first direction.
- This longitudinal offset can generally be detected relatively easily, with a corresponding size it can even be seen with the naked eye, so that a piece of mail which is provided with such a franking imprint can be easily rejected during a check, for example in a mail distribution center. Since the franking imprints used often also contain a reference to the franking machine with which they were generated, this not only prevents mail items with counterfeit franking imprints from being transported, but also makes it possible to identify the franking machine by manipulating the counterfeits were produced.
- one or more predefined functions can be used, which are used according to a predefined or also random scheme.
- the waiting time interval can change in varying or fixed intervals, for example from printed image to printed image, according to a predetermined relationship using the predetermined function or functions.
- the waiting time interval does not have to vary by fixed amounts, but can also change by changing amounts. In other words, it can Waiting time interval, for example, in the event of a variation in the printed image First increase the printed image by a first amount, then by three times decrease the first amount, then double the first amount decrease, then increase by half of the first amount and so on.
- a predefined basic interval is assumed which is then one using the given function determined additional interval is increased and / or decreased.
- the variation is of the waiting time interval selected such that when the relative movement is controlled between a second print head and a second image carrier without Taking this variation of the waiting time interval into account with sufficient Probability of a longitudinal offset along the first direction between the first and second partial image results, which is in a detectable size range lies.
- the given function may be between one or even there is actually no variation in several successive print images, as long as it is ensured that with a sufficiently high Probability of a sufficiently large, d. H. detectable longitudinal offset disregarding the variation results. In other words, must only sufficiently often a sufficiently large, disregarding the Variation leading to a sufficiently large longitudinal offset in the jump Wait time interval occur.
- the longitudinal offset can - via the selected variation of the waiting time interval - be chosen so large that it can be detected in any way. It is preferable the size range of the longitudinal offset is chosen so that the longitudinal offset optically, for example with the image recognition devices it can be recorded as they are usually used in mail distribution centers. The size range of the longitudinal offset is preferably selected such that the Longitudinal misalignment can be seen with the naked eye, which increases the probability the detection of an attempted fraud is advantageously increased.
- Preferred because of simple variants of the method according to the invention are characterized in that the waiting time interval in multiples of a variation interval varied. In this case, for example, it only has to go beyond the specified one Function a number can be determined, which with the variation interval is multiplied, which in turn is then multiplied by the above-mentioned basic interval according to a predefined relationship for determining the waiting time interval is charged, in the simplest case, for example, to the above Basic interval is added.
- the size of the variation of the required for a certain longitudinal offset Waiting time interval or the length of the variation interval is determined by the speed at which the first print head and the first image carrier move move towards each other.
- the variation interval corresponds at least to the quotient a predetermined longitudinal offset and the average speed of the relative movement between the first print head and the first image carrier during the third step. This ensures that even a minimal Variation around the simple of the variation interval a predetermined minimum longitudinal offset is achieved.
- the present invention further relates to a device for generating a Print image, in particular a franking imprint, on a first Image carrier.
- the print image is made up of at least one first partial image and one arranged transversely to a first direction generated second field.
- the device has a first print head, Drive means for generating relative movements between the first Printhead and the first image carrier and one with the drive means and control device connected to the first printhead.
- the drive means and the control device are for generating the first partial image in one first step under a relative movement between the first print head and the first image carrier along the first direction, for generating a transverse offset between the first print head and the first image carrier a second direction transverse to the first direction in a second Step and to generate the second partial image in a third step a relative movement between the first print head and the first image carrier formed along the first direction.
- control device has a time control unit for controlling the waiting time interval between the end of printing of the first Step and the start of the printing process of the third step on such is designed such that the waiting time interval is at least one predetermined Function has varying length.
- the predetermined function is preferably a pseudo-random function or more preferably a random function like this above has already been explained in detail.
- timing unit to vary the waiting time interval in a way is designed that when controlling the relative movement between a second print head and a second image carrier without taking this into account Variation of the waiting time interval with sufficient probability Longitudinal offset along the first direction between the first and second The result is a partial image that is in a detectable size range.
- the timing control unit can be used to achieve the above according to the invention Time control described simply by a processing unit, for example, a microprocessor, etc., which is based on the specified one Accesses the program or subroutine using the function, which in turn is in a memory connected to the processing unit is filed.
- a processing unit for example, a microprocessor, etc.
- Figure 1 shows a schematic partial view of a device according to the invention in the form of a franking machine 1 with a first print head 2 for Generate a print image in the form of a franking imprint 3 on the first letter representing the image carrier 4.
- the franking imprint 3 exists from two partial images 3.1 and 3.2 offset transversely to a first direction 5, the complement each other to form the franking imprint 3.
- first drive means 6 are included a motor 6.1 and a belt drive 6.2 driven thereby, which in turn has a longitudinal guide 7 along the first Direction 5 guided bracket 8 is connected.
- bracket 8 sits across a cartridge 9 with the print head 2 is displaceable to the first direction 5 Cartridge 9 and thus the printhead 2 can be represented by second not shown Drive means are displaced transversely to the first direction 5.
- the cartridge 9 is an ink cartridge with integrated inkjet printhead 2.
- the Invention can also be used in conjunction with printheads that work with any other printing principles.
- the print head 2 is started from a first position indicated by the contour 2.1, in which the Printing begins in a first step in the first direction 5 with respect to of the held letter 4 in one indicated by the contour 2.2 move to the second position, at which the printing process ends first. Subsequently is the printhead 2 in a second step on the detour a third position indicated by the contour 2.3 transversely to the first direction 5 offset in a second direction 10. Then the print head 2 in one third step for generating the second partial image 3.2 starting from a fourth position indicated by the contour 2.4, in which the Printing starts again, along the first direction 5 in the direction of the Move arrow 11 into a fifth position indicated by the contour 2.5, at which the printing process ends.
- the invention only relates to the relative movement arrives between the print head and the image carrier. Accordingly, at other variants of the invention also the image carrier or printhead and image carrier are moved accordingly in a manner known per se.
- two sub-images 3.1 and 3.2 which complement the franking imprint 3 received, as can be seen by way of example in FIG. 2, is one with the Print head 2 and the motor 6.1 control device connected in a conventional manner 12 provided which the synchronized control of printhead 2 and the engine 6.1 takes over. Thanks to this synchronization between the two sub-images 3.1 and 3.2 no longitudinal offset along the first direction 5, so that a seamless franking imprint 3 is produced.
- the control device 12 comprises a motor control unit 13 and a print head control unit 14 and a time control unit connected to these two 15.
- This time control unit 15 is designed so that it for each print image 3 determines a first piece of information which defines the waiting time interval, that between the end of the printing of the first step - at position 2.2 of the print head 2 - and the beginning of the printing process of the third Step - at position 2.4 of print head 2 - passes.
- This first information is then used to synchronize the control of printhead 2 and Motor 6.1 passed to the motor control unit 13 and the print head control unit 14.
- the waiting time interval is defined for everyone Franking imprint 3 under access to a program in one with the time control unit 15 connected memory 16 is stored.
- the length of the basic interval TG corresponds to the minimum time with the existing drive is required to start from the second position 2.2 to reach the fourth position 2.4 of the print head 2 in the third step printing starts again.
- the additional interval TZ and thus also the waiting time interval T varies accordingly in multiples of the variation interval TV.
- FIG. 3 shows the sequence when determining the waiting time interval T.
- the request for a print job is registered in a sequence step 17.
- the numerical value F becomes the predetermined one Function VF determined.
- step 19 there is then the additional interval TZ calculated according to equation G2, with which finally in process step 20 the waiting time interval T is calculated according to equation G1.
- the printout then takes place.
- the predetermined function VF is a known one Pseudo-random function with which an integer random number is used every time F is calculated from 0 to 10.
- the VF function is selected so that their pattern is only repeated after several hundred thousand calculations, so it is impossible with a conventional franking machine to do this Identify patterns.
- FIG. 4 shows an example of a section of a diagram in which the Waiting time intervals T, which are used in the franking machine from FIG. 1, above the NF number of the franking.
- the scaling the T axis corresponds to the variation interval TV.
- the waiting time interval corresponds to T (N) the basic interval TG.
- the function VF therefore has the for this franking Value 0 delivered.
- the function VF has for this Franking therefore delivered the value 4.
- the function VF therefore has the for these frankings Value 1 delivered.
- the function VF has for this Franking therefore delivered the value 2.
- N + 5 corresponds to the waiting time interval T (N + 5) the value TG + 3TV.
- the function VF therefore delivered the value 3 for this franking.
- another one kind of calculation of the waiting time interval can be used to the to achieve variation according to the invention.
- it does not have to be the one described Gradation in multiples of a variation interval. So can for example, with the given function, a correspondingly varying one Number from 1 to 2 are determined, which then with the basic interval for determination of the waiting time interval is multiplied.
- Figure 5 shows an example of an imprint 30 which is fraudulent with one Way to the franking machine 1 parallel connected second printing device in the form of a conventional office printer with a - not shown - second print head was generated on a second letter 40.
- the control data for the printing elements of the print head 2 from Figure 1 on your Way to print head 2 fraudulently read the franking imprint 3 to reproduce from Figure 2.
- the Variation of the waiting time interval T when controlling the traversing drive for the second printhead is not taken into account.
- the information regarding the Time control of the motor 6.1 is missing for the control of the Travel drive for the second print head, since the drive control 13 and the motor 6.1 is inaccessible in the secure housing part of the franking machine 1 are accommodated.
- the length of the variation interval TV in the franking machine 1 from FIG. 1 is determined from the quotient of a predetermined longitudinal offset LVV per variation interval and the average speed VM of the print head 2 during the third step according to equation G3:
- TV LVV / VM.
- the longitudinal offset is even twice the minimum longitudinal offset LVV.
- a minimum longitudinal offset LVV of 1.25mm is mentioned here, that at an average print head speed of 125mm / s according to the equation G3 leads to a variation interval of 10ms.
