Abstract

Process for manipulating workpieces to be carburized comprises inserting the workpieces or a workpiece magazine on palettes into a rotary furnace in rows corresponding to a prescribed number of workpiece rows, removing from the furnace after carburizing and feeding to a press. The palettes are arranged in the furnace in the number of rows so that the row number is a multiple of the press number. Preferred Features A free place is provided next to the palettes to be removed from the furnace.

Description

The invention relates to a method for manipulating carburized workpieces, in which the stored on pallets workpieces or workpiece magazines placed in a rotary hearth furnace in a number of a predetermined number of workpiece rows, removed after carburizing the rotary hearth furnace and fed to a given Preßstationenzahl hardness press, and on each pallet one of the Preßstationenzahl corresponding number of workpieces or workpiece magazines are stored.

In the thermal treatment of workpieces as high-volume parts for case hardening different types of kilns are used for carburizing depending on the workpiece size and mass. Small or thin-walled workpieces such as synchronizer rings or shift sleeves for vehicle manual transmission can be heated in a rotary hearth furnace in a relatively short time and processed to a sufficient Einhärtungstiefe of about 0.2 to 0.3 mm. For full utilization of the furnace space and to achieve carburizing times of several hours, the workpieces to be carburized are usually positioned on individual pallets in multi-layered grate systems. These are loaded with loaded "green parts", that is, not yet carburized workpiece blanks in the rotary hearth furnace and after carburizing this again removed and fed to a predetermined Preßstationenzahl having hardness press. The number of workpieces to be deposited on each pallet is determined by the number of press stations (number of press stations) in the hardness press.

"Drehherdofenanlage zum Gasaufkohlen mit anschließender Pressenhärtung" von T. Winstrot und K. Ritzka, 1989).In the design of a workpiece hardening system consisting essentially of a rotary hearth furnace and a hardening press, it is essential to exploit the capacity of both the furnace and the press so that no idle times. For this purpose, the pallets are arranged in a rotary kiln in a circular row, wherein at a loading point of Rotary hearth furnace each taken a pallet with finished carburized workpieces or workpiece magazines and the rotary hearth furnace is loaded with a green bearing pallets (see "rotary hearth furnace for gas carburizing with subsequent press hardening" by T. Winstrot and K. Ritzka, 1989).

From the utility model 296 08 569 it is known to load a pallet instead of individual workpieces with one or more workpiece magazines, wherein in each workpiece magazine several workpieces are stacked arranged one above the other. US-A-4,602,904 relates to a rotary hearth furnace with a grate on which are arranged two concentric rows of workpieces.

The invention has for its object to make the aforementioned manipulation so that both the rotary hearth furnace and the hardness press are better utilized. The invention solves the problem with a method and a rotary hearth furnace with the respective features of the independent claims. According to the invention it is provided that the pallets are arranged in the rotary hearth furnace in such a number of rows that the number of workpieces is a multiple of Preßstationenzahl. The invention makes it possible, for example, smaller pressing presses with a few press stations with larger rotary hearth furnaces, in which a larger number of rows of workpieces can be accommodated to couple, because the previous equality of Preßstationenzahl with the number of workpieces no longer must be complied with. Thus, according to the respective carburizing time, smaller hardening presses can be coupled with larger rotary hearth furnaces, without resulting in idle times.

Particular embodiments of the invention are specified in the subclaims.

The invention will be explained in more detail below with reference to an exemplary embodiment shown in the attached drawing. Show it:
FIG. 1

FIGS. 2 to 9
various stages of the pallet removal and loading operation on a rotary hearth furnace according to FIG. 1

In front of the feed opening 3 of a rotary hearth furnace 2, a manipulator 4 of a generally designated 1 workpiece hardening plant is placed next to which on one side of a hardening press 5 and opposite to the other side of a magazine 6 are stored in this stored green bodies 7. The manipulator 4 is designed so that on its boom, not shown, a pallet 10 takes place, which in the illustrated example, two workpieces 12, 14 carries. Instead of the two workpieces 12, 14, two workpiece magazines can be placed on the pallet 10. The hardening press 5 is equipped with two pressing stations 8, 9, so that two carburized workpieces or two workpiece magazines with carburized workpieces can be processed simultaneously with one pressing operation. Not shown is one of the hardening press 5 usually upstream quenching station for the carburized, hot workpieces.

The rotary hearth furnace 2 has a plurality of floors with concentrically stacked, annular grids on which pallets such as the pallet 10 parked and from which the pallets can be removed when they are just behind the feed opening 3. Each pallet carries 10 as many workpieces 12, 14 or workpiece magazines, in the present case two pieces, as the hardening press can work on workpieces simultaneously, ie a number of workpieces or workpiece magazines, which is equal to the number of pressing stations. On the grate floors, therefore, the pallets are arranged in concentric rows and can be placed in each grate floor from the boom of the manipulator 4 through the feed opening 3 or removed from this. For ease of illustration, only a single grid floor is shown in the figures.

Also not shown are means for removing stored in the magazine 6 green compacts 7 and settling them on an empty pallet and other means for removing workpieces 12, 14 or workpiece magazines from the pallet 10 and passing the same in the quenching and from there between the Preßmatritzen the hardening press 5.

Man sieht, dass die Anzahl der Werkstückreihen ein Vielfaches, hier das Doppelte, der Anzahl der Preßstationen, hier die beiden Preßstationen 8 und 9, ist.FIG. 1 shows a workpiece hardening plant 1 in which the manipulator 4 operates a rotary hearth furnace 2, on the surface of which four concentric rows of workpieces 16, 17, 18, 19 can be placed, and a hardening press 5 with two press stations 8, 9. In this case, the workpieces or workpiece magazines 26, 27 adjacent to the same radius are located on a single pallet 36 and the other two workpieces or workpiece magazines 28 and 29 of the workpiece rows 18 adjacent to one another on the same radius, and 19 on another Palette 38, so that both pallets 36 and 38 are substantially at the same radius. For simplicity, only four pairs of opposite pairs of pallets are shown in Figure 1 in the illustrated Rostetagen. In fact, there are usually a lot more pallets in a grid, arranged in concentric rows. In the present case, the two rows of pallets to which the pallets 36 and 38 belong, the four rows of workpieces 16, 17, 18 and 19. It can be seen that the number of rows of work a multiple, here twice, the number of press stations, here the both pressing stations 8 and 9, is.

If the two pallets 36 and 38 are successively at the feed opening 3, it is for removing the inner pallet 38 and their replacement by a green loaded pallets only necessary to provide in the main direction of rotation 51 of the grate 50 next to the outer pallet 36 a free space, the is not occupied by a pallet, as well as to equip the grate drive with a reversing device for short-term reversal of direction for the rust. This will be explained below with reference to a simpler embodiment with reference to FIGS. 2 to 9, in which the manipulator 4 operates a hardening press with a pressing station and a rotary hearth furnace with two rows of workpieces.

Since the number of recorded on a pallet workpieces or workpiece magazines must correspond to the Preßstationenzahl, carries here each pallet only a single workpiece or workpiece magazine. The main direction of rotation of the grate 50 is denoted by 51, so it points in the opposite direction of the clock hand. On the grate 50 are two concentric rows 52, 54 parked from pallets, here, since each pallet carries a single workpiece or workpiece magazine, equal to the number of workpiece rows. Specifically, the pallets 55, 57 carry a workpiece or workpiece magazine standing just before the end of the carburizing time, the pallets 56, 58 each have a finished carburized workpiece or workpiece magazine and the pallets 62, 64, 66 each have a workpiece or workpiece magazine to be carburized. The pallets 55, 57 are just in front, the pallets 56, 58 exactly and the pallets 62, 64, 66 in the main direction of rotation 51 behind the feed opening. Radially in front of the pallet 62 is located on the grate 50, a free space 80, which is occupied with no pallet.

First, the boom of the manipulator 4 removes the pallet 58 (Figure 3). Then, the direction of rotation of the grate drive is reversed until the inner pallet 56 in the main direction 51 adjacent inner pallet 62 is located behind the feed opening. Then the rust drive is stopped and the free space 80 is occupied by a pallet 70 from the boom, which carries a green body (Figures 4 and 5). Thereafter, the grate 50 is further rotated in the main direction of rotation 51 until the inner pallet 56 is accessible through the feed opening for the boom (Figure 6). The boom then clears the pallet 56 from the grate 50 and replaces it with a pallet 72 carrying a green body (Figures 7 and 8). Finally, the grate 50 is driven in the main direction of rotation until the next pair of pallets 55, 57 is accessible with now finished carburized workpieces through the feed opening. A state corresponding to the initial state according to FIG. 2 of the rust load with pallets has been reached.

Accordingly, it is possible to couple a rotary hearth furnace with n possible rows of workpieces to a hardening press having only a number of pressing stations, which in the mathematical sense is a true divisor of n, if there is a sufficient number of free spaces. For example, if a rotary hearth furnace permits six rows of workpieces per grate, it can be coupled to either two press presses or to three press stations using a hardening press, with three or two rows of pallets in the rotary hearth furnace are housed. If three rows of workpieces per grate are possible, a hardening press with one pressing station is sufficient.

Claims (3)

  1. Method for manipulating workpieces to be thermally treated, in particular workpieces to be carburized, wherein the workpieces or workpiece magazines deposited on pallets are introduced into a rotary hearth kiln in a plurality of rows corresponding to a predetermined number of workpiece rows, are removed from the rotary hearth kiln after thermal treatment, particularly after carburizing, and are passed to a quenching press having a predetermined number of pressing stations, and wherein a number of workpieces or workpiece magazines corresponding to the number of pressing stations is placed on each pallet, wherein the pallets (36, 38; 55, 57; 56, 58; 64, 66) are arranged in the rotary hearth kiln (2, 50) in a number of rows such that the number of workpiece rows is a multiple of the number of pressing stations, characterised in that adjoining the pallets (56, 58) to be removed from the rotary hearth kiln (2, 50) and lying on the same radius, at least one free space (80) is provided which is not occupied by a pallet.
  2. Method according to claim 1, characterised in that a pallet positioned at a feed opening is removed from the outer pallet row of two concentric pallet rows occupying a grid of the rotary hearth kiln, thereafter the free space (80) is rotated to the feed opening, a new pallet (70) is placed in the free space (80), a rear pallet (56) is rotated in front of the feed opening, removed from the rotary hearth kiln and is replaced by a further pallet.
  3. Rotary hearth kiln with one or more grid levels arranged above one another, wherein arranged on each grid (50) is a plurality of concentric rows (52, 54) of pallets occupied by workpieces or workpiece magazines, characterised by a grid drive with a reversing apparatus for brief reversal of the direction of rotation of the grid.
