Definitions
- the invention relates to a connection of an electrical Aluminum cable, especially one made of several aluminum wires formed or insulated aluminum cable with a made of copper, a copper alloy and / or brass or same metal existing connector, for example with a Battery clamp, a cable lug, a connection adapter, a Plug part, a piece of cable or the like, for the electrical System of a motor vehicle, the insulation of the aluminum cable ends or removed before the point of contact with the connecting part and a support sleeve is provided which is at least that of the end Front of the stripped part of the aluminum cable adjacent Encloses area and pressed with the end of the aluminum cable and / or shrunk onto it, so that the wires of the Aluminum cable compressed at least in the area of the front are.
- the invention further relates to a method for connecting a electrical aluminum cable with one made of copper, one Copper alloy and / or brass or the like metal existing connection part, for example battery clamp, cable lug, Connection adapter, plug part, cable or the like, for the electrical system of a motor vehicle, the end face of the Aluminum cable in connection with the front of the connector and electrical contact and the aluminum cable stripped the connection end, on the stripped point one Support sleeve pressed on or shrunk and thereby the Wires or strands of the aluminum cable are compressed.
- a electrical aluminum cable with one made of copper, one Copper alloy and / or brass or the like metal existing connection part, for example battery clamp, cable lug, Connection adapter, plug part, cable or the like, for the electrical system of a motor vehicle, the end face of the Aluminum cable in connection with the front of the connector and electrical contact and the aluminum cable stripped the connection end, on the stripped point one Support sleeve pressed on or shrunk and thereby the Wires or strands of the aluminum cable are compressed
- Aluminum is also at greater risk of corrosion than Copper, which has a relatively good corrosion resistance because Aluminum is relatively base and therefore has to strive to more stable oxidic form from which to pass from it was generated by energy.
- connection is one electrical aluminum cable with a connector from another Metal characterized in that the connecting part with the end face of the end of the individual wires Aluminum cable is welded.
- connection is primarily through an additional support sleeve marked on the aluminum cable that the individual wires or Strands sufficiently stabilized by squeezing and each other approximates to a metallic surface on the front of the cable to result, which then the connection point respectively the place of welding to the connector is.
- oxide provided that there which should have formed, and then this end face with to butt weld the connecting part, so that in the future no oxide can form at this point.
- aluminum can be fused and welded with copper and so even a mutual alloy on the connection according to the invention form. Experiments have shown that the tensile strength of such Connection higher than that of the aluminum cable and / or the connector can be yourself.
- the sub-metallic connection layer can be approximately 2 mm be strong, so that air or moisture access to this Junction is excluded.
- the support sleeve extends over the transition between the stripped area of the aluminum cable and the Insulation enclosing part of the insulation is sufficient.
- the Support sleeve therefore expediently has a greater axial length than the stripped area of the aluminum cable, making a good one Bracing in the area of the connection point up to the insulation is achieved, resulting in an even distribution of the pressing forces leads in the connection area without the individual aluminum wires to strain and deform too much. So this is one Connecting point also lateral forces and dynamic loads, as in motor vehicles also connected to the engine Aggregates can occur grown. At the same time, a good one Sealing of the aluminum cable and the connection can be achieved.
- an aluminum sleeve has the Advantage that they are in terms of thermal expansion, electrical Conductivity and weldability like the aluminum cable itself behaves, so to speak, a supplement to the aluminum cable the junction is.
- the aluminum cable and the shrunk or pressed on support sleeve and the connecting part an essentially circular cross section, in particular the same Have size.
- the weld can then cover the entire area Cross-section of the connection and at the same time the entire Cross section of the connector on the one hand and the aluminum cable and support sleeve formed unit on the other hand.
- Corresponding favorable resistance values for electrical current can be achieved on this large-area connection.
- connection is by butt welding can be completed. It is particularly favorable if that end of the aluminum cable provided with the support sleeve with the Connection part is connected by friction welding.
- Friction welding is known per se and in many cases is brought about by the fact that one the parts are rotated before connection, then against the other part is moved, which creates frictional heat, which is high enough to weld the parts so that the braking of the rotation firmly together.
- Friction welding is an electrical one Connection of an aluminum cable with a connector Friction welding to be regarded as particularly advantageous and inexpensive, especially relatively low energies for this type of welding, for example compared to flash butt welding, which is also conceivable are necessary.
- the method already mentioned at the beginning is to solve the problem characterized in that the individual wires or strands of the Aluminum cable together with the support sleeve with the connection part be butt welded.
- the two parts of different materials are welded together, being the soft and pliable face of the aluminum cable is first mechanically solidified by a support sleeve, to withstand the stresses of the weld and these Face of the aluminum cable for immediate welding to to make a connector suitable, because it results a practically closed one, made up of individual wires or strands of the aluminum cable formed metallic surface.
- a particularly favorable procedure can consist in that the aluminum cable provided with the support sleeve with the connecting part is connected by friction welding. Opposite one electrically supported butt welding process is more advantageous for this Way significantly less energy is required. Nevertheless, the friction welding process allows a welding of the materials aluminum on the one hand and copper or copper alloy or the like metal on the other hand with formation of intermetallic phases, that is, the oxide layer on the aluminum is destroyed and the possibility of corrosion eliminated at the junction. Since the aluminum cable with the Support sleeve before or at the same time as the welding process is pressed, a kind of solid cylinder is created, on the front side or head surface the welding can be done.
- the wires or strands of the aluminum cable can be in front and / or during the welding process at least in the area of the front Junction point, what with the already mentioned support sleeve can be carried out particularly easily.
- the support sleeve can be flat on the outside, in particular one Polygon, for example to form a hexagon. Thereby there is also the possibility for later assembly for a tool attack, for example for attacking a Wrench.
- such a polygonal shape on the Outside of the support sleeve when laying and assembling the cable be advantageous with its connector.
- the connector can either be a copper cylinder or a Copper alloy, for example made of brass, which in turn with a corresponding connector or a cable clamp or Battery terminal or the like is connected or from the outset is already connected to it in one piece.
- a cylinder can particularly well set in rotation and by friction welding with the according to prepared aluminum cables.
- a support sleeve in particular made of copper, Copper alloy or brass or like metal, pressed and is butt welded to the front of the aluminum cable.
- a device for performing the method for connecting a Aluminum cable with a connector made of other metal can consist mainly in that an openable jig for the aluminum cable with the support sleeve and an in Aligned releasable bracket for the connector are provided that the bracket has a rotary drive or so can be coupled and that the clamping device and the holder relative to each other in the longitudinal direction of the aluminum cable and the one that is at least in alignment with each other Connection part are movable or displaceable. Very cheap it is when the rotating bracket is slidable. This Movability then connects the required pressing force the junction that is exercised during welding becomes.
- the openable jig for the end of the aluminum cable at the same time for crimping those provided there Support sleeve can be used.
- an aluminum cable used for electrical conduction in which not directly on the individual wires or strands themselves can and must be welded, but expediently one Aluminum, i.e. identical support sleeve is provided, with which the wires and strands are pre-compressed can.
- a kind of solid cylinder is thus formed, which at the same time also serves as a seal over the insulation because it extends over this Isolation can be enough.
- This seal has one in tests Water resistance test passed with a meter of water column.
- the Junction itself has high electrical conductivity, because one may be on the aluminum side and possibly even oxide layer on the copper side due to friction welding can be eliminated in a relative mutual rotation, so the two different metals in intermetallic Phases arrive and are fused and welded together.
- an electrical aluminum cable 1 which consists of individual Aluminum wires 2 and insulation 3 are made with a Connection part 4, matching parts each get the same Reference numbers.
- FIG. 2 shows one Connection V of the aluminum cable 1 to a battery terminal 5, Fig.4 such a connection with a cable lug 6, Figure 6 a Connection with a connection adapter 7, which is also a plug part can be with pins 8, and Fig.8, the connection V one electrical aluminum cable 1 with a piece of cable 9 made of copper, a copper alloy or the like metal, where also individual wires 10 and insulation 11 are provided.
- connection part 4 which according to the individual embodiments can be designed differently, with the end face 12 and also the support sleeve 13 welded.
- FIGS. 2, 4, 6 and 8 One can see in FIGS. 2, 4, 6 and 8 in a schematic representation a bead-shaped circumferential Weld seam 14.
- the connection point is in these figures V continues through a the diameter plane of the connection V suggestive cross line marked, although during welding no separation point or joint remains, but the two metals of the connected parts due to welding heat the resulting fusion can be seamlessly connected.
- the support sleeve 13 through the transition between the stripped area of the aluminum cable 1 and the insulation 3, enclosing part of the insulation 3, is sufficient.
- the support sleeve 13 therefore not only serves to compress the wires 2 and Formation of the already mentioned full cylinder, which is the welding on the end face 12 and thus the welding of the individual Wires 10 or strands of the aluminum cable 1 with the connecting part made of copper or a copper alloy or brass and with each other favored, but at the same time as a seal over the insulation 3.
- the support sleeve compressing the end of the aluminum cable 1 13 a metal sleeve and in particular an aluminum sleeve, if appropriate but also a copper or brass sleeve the welding process and the formation of the weld seam 14 part and at the same time improves the mutual connection of the parts, because not only the flat, flat end face 12 is connected to the connecting part 4, but also the end 13a the support sleeve 13, which on the other hand extends over the insulation 3 and any dynamic tensile or transverse forces that occur distributed.
- the support sleeve 13 has two sections different in its interior Internal cross sections or inner diameters. Section 13b the larger inside diameter encompasses the end of the insulation 3 of the aluminum cable 1 and section 13c of a smaller internal cross section encompasses the stripped area of the aluminum cable 1.
- the difference in the inner diameter of these two sections 13b and 13c of the support sleeve 13 corresponds to twice the thickness of the Insulation 3 of the aluminum cable 1, that is, the difference in Inner radii of the two sections 13b and 13c of the support sleeve 13 correspond approximately to the thickness of the insulation 3, so that despite the gradation between the insulated and stripped area of the aluminum cable 1 the outside of the support sleeve 13 is essentially smooth and can run without paragraph or change in diameter.
- connection V the aluminum cable 1 first stripped at the connection end by either the Insulation 3 removed to a certain length or from the outset is omitted.
- the support sleeve is placed on the stripped area 13 attached. Then the support sleeve 13 is pressed or shrunk, causing the wires 2 or strands of the aluminum cable 1 be compressed so that on the front side 12 despite the formation of these individual wires 2 practically a full cross section results in that for welding to the connector 4 Available.
- the to be connected with the aluminum cable 1 and blunt welding connecting part 4 is shown in not shown Rotated way and rotating at high speed of for example 1500 rev / min. against the end face 12 of the Aluminum cable 1 and the end 13a of the now pressed Support sleeve 13 pressed and by the resulting frictional heat after braking and stopping the rotation fused and welded, the metals then in the area of the connection V. of the connected parts are also alloyed with one another.
- the wires 2 or strands of aluminum cable 1 are before and during of the welding process at least in the area of the front Junction V compressed to the already mentioned To form a full cross-section with a flat, flat end face 12.
- the support sleeve 13 is flat on the outside, in particular one Polygon, for example to a hexagon, pressed so that one largely uniform compression of the wires 2 in the area the connection V takes place and the support sleeve 13 later on the outside can also be grasped with tools during assembly.
- a battery terminal 5 can be used with the aluminum cable 1 can be connected with connecting bolts 5a as connecting part 4.
- connection part 4 shows the connection of an aluminum cable 2 with a Connection part 4, which as a cable lug 6 with a bolt-shaped Connection part 6a is formed.
- connection adapter 7 for integral electrical connections shown for example via connector pins 8, the Connection adapter 7 itself the corresponding cross-sectional shape and surface for butt welding with the aluminum cable 1.
- Fig. 7 and 8 finally shows the possibility of an aluminum cable 1 with a piece of cable 9 in particular made of copper or To connect copper alloy as a connector 4, this as Connector 4 serving cable piece 9 made of wires 10 made of copper or a copper alloy on the outside also with a Support sleeve 13 in particular made of copper, a copper alloy or Brass or aluminum, in any case made of metal, pressed and butt welded to the end face 12 of the aluminum cable 1 becomes.
- This support sleeve 13 is made of copper or the like arranged flush with the cable piece 9 at the end, so that the connection V both on the respective wires 2 and 10 and the support sleeves 13, ie with a correspondingly enlarged cross section appropriate stability.
- An apparatus for performing such a method is not shown in detail and expediently comprises an openable Clamping device for the one provided with the support sleeve 13 Aluminum cable 1 and a detachable and aligned with it Drivable holder for the connecting part 4.
- the clamping device and the bracket are then in relative to each other Longitudinal direction of extension of the aluminum cable 1 and thus at least when the connecting part is in alignment 4 movable or slidable so that the rotating against the fixed part pressed and thereby the necessary friction heat can be generated for the friction welding process.
- the rotating holder can be moved since it the overall shorter or smaller connector 4 accommodates. To braking of the rotary drive takes place under the resulting Frictional heat the mutual fusion and welding practically over the entire cross-section, so not just one fixed, but also a tight connection V results.
- connection V of the electrical aluminum cable 1 with a Connector 4 made of other metal, in particular copper or one Copper alloy, is made by squeezing the aluminum cable 1 forming wires 2 in the end area and welding to the Connection part 4, in particular by a friction welding process.
- the frictional heat between the materials is used to both Melt materials and without additional welding material with each other connect to.
- the aluminum cable 1 is one with it pressed support sleeve 13, which the individual wires 2 to makes the junction practically a full area and is also welded to the connecting part 4. So you can Connection parts made of copper are tight and electrically conductive with the Aluminum cable 1 can be connected without the connection area a risk of corrosion due to different noble or less noble Metals.
