Definitions
- the present invention relates to a sheathing tool according to the preamble of the claim 1.
- Document DE-A-1 011 026 describes a sheathing tool corresponding to the preamble of claim 1.
- electrical wiring generally consists of preparing one or more several bundles of wires on a mounting device, to bring the wires together means of adhesive ties or split plastic rings, and to be covered the whole of a corrugated split plastic sheath or of a wrapping an adhesive strip.
- This sheathing or wrapping which is generally called sheathing has essential function of giving the beam a certain cohesion so as to be able to install it easily on a vehicle structural element. In addition, it forms a flexible coating which absorbs vibrations and absorbs shocks between the beam and structural element to avoid noise.
- the cladding of small and medium diameter beams, such as those intended for motor vehicles, is most often achieved by helical wrapping performed manually using flexible adhesive tape, for example PVC. This operation turns out to be particularly long and of uncertain quality.
- Another cladding method consists in wrapping the bundle in a ribbon in wrapping this ribbon transversely to itself around the bundle and joining the two side edges of this ribbon.
- the ribbons currently used are made up polyurethane foam or adhesive felt and are thicker than those used for helical winding of small diameter bundles.
- the implementation work of this process is extremely delicate manually.
- the objective of the invention is to design a sheathing tool for a bundle of wires using a ribbon wrapped transversely to itself around the bundle.
- a sheathing tool according to the invention is defined in claim 1.
- a sheathing tool for a bundle of wires by wrapping this bundle in a flexible adhesive tape wound transversely to itself around the beam and whose edges longitudinal are joined by gluing comprising a chassis fitted with a wrapping head comprising a ribbon forming device, which is fixedly mounted on the chassis and which has a V-shaped return edge arranged to initiate a longitudinal folding of the ribbon, and at minus a first pair of jaws mounted on the chassis, movable between an open position and a closed position in which they are placed to each other by return means to ensure the gluing the longitudinal edges of the ribbon against each other the other and define between them an orifice for passage of the sheathed beam.
- the shaping member initiates the winding transverse of the ribbon around the beam which is placed in the bottom of the V-shaped profile formed by the ribbon on this organ.
- the V shape of the edge of the setting member shape allows to follow the different longitudinal strands tape a trajectory of the same length so avoid lengthening of the extreme lateral strands which may cause, upon subsequent retraction of these strands, bends or even local detachments ribbon.
- the beam and the ribbon, before being united extend in directions different, so it is necessary to change the direction of incidence of at least one of them. As the beam is usually mounted stationary on a table mounting, it is easier to change the direction of incidence tape by forcing a change of direction (around 90 °) at the place of its meeting with the beam.
- the passing beam in the bottom of the V formed by this organ is thus suitably plated and glued to the central part of the ribbon which corresponds to the bottom of the V-shaped profile formed by this ribbon.
- the first pair of jaws folds down the longitudinal edges tape so as to stick these edges together the other by their adhesive faces.
- the beam and the part of the ribbon which surrounds it are engaged in the orifice of passage delimited by these jaws.
- the wrapping head comprises a second pair of jaws mounted on the chassis between the first pair of jaws and the shaping member, mobile between an open position and a closed position to which they are recalled by means of reminder and in which they define a ribbon pre-winding die around the bundle.
- the central part of the ribbon is thus correctly wound around the beam which is itself properly wedged in the bottom of the V-shaped profile formed by the ribbon.
- the longitudinal edges of the ribbon are folded towards each other, which makes it easier the next operation of gluing these edges which is made by the first pair of jaws.
- the tape is adhesive, the central part of it, which is wrapped and pressed around the beam, is therefore stuck to it.
- the sheathing tool comprises at least one guide beam alignment arranged on the chassis upstream of the wrapping head to align the beam with the opening for the first pair of jaws and the top of the V-shaped edge of the setting member form.
- the beam is thus properly aligned with the bottom of the V-shaped profile formed by the ribbon.
- the sheathing tool includes a second alignment guide for the bundle disposed downstream of the wrapping head.
- the two alignment guides of the beam are constituted by two pulleys arranged on either side of the wrapping head.
- the sheathing tool comprises a additional guide located upstream of the wrap head on one side of the beam opposite the alignment guide corresponding, this complementary guide being made up of two parts mounted on the chassis to be mobile, one relative to each other between a closed position in which they are joined and an open position in which they are separated from each other for allow the passage of the beam.
- the V-shaped surface of the shaping has two end edges turned one towards each other so as to form holding stops for the longitudinal edges of the ribbon.
- Figure 1 schematically illustrates the principle sheathing of a bundle 1 of wires 2 such as cables electric.
- This sheathing is carried out by means of a tape 3 having a flattened initial configuration represented in mixed lines.
- the sheathing is carried out by winding the ribbon 3 transversely to itself around bundle 1 so to wrap this one.
- the ribbon 3 then presents longitudinally a part 4 wound around the bundle 1 and forming a sheath, and longitudinal edges 5 which are folded against each other.
- Ribbon 3 has one side adhesive against which beam 1 is placed, the longitudinal edges 5 being glued to each other by this adhesive side.
- Ribbon 3 can be made of any material flexible, that is to say not only of polyurethane foam, felt or the like usually used for cladding by manual transverse winding of the beams medium and large diameters, but also of any other finer material (PVC, woven or non-woven fibers, etc.) usually used for helical cladding bundles of small diameters.
- PVC polyurethane foam, felt or the like usually used for cladding by manual transverse winding of the beams medium and large diameters
- any other finer material PVC, woven or non-woven fibers, etc.
- FIGS 2 to 12 illustrate a first mode of production of the sheathing tool according to the invention.
- This tool comprises a chassis 6 mainly formed of two flanges 7, 8.
- This chassis is equipped with a main handle 9 and two secondary handles 10, 11 allowing indifferently use by a right-handed person or left-handed.
- the handle 9 extends parallel to the flanges 7 and 8 and is substantially parallel to the beam 1 to be sheathed and plumb with the latter while the handles 10, 11 extend along a common axis 13 perpendicular to the flanges 7 and 8.
- a cylindrical support 14 is mounted between the handles 10, 11 on the inside of the flange 7.
- This support 14 receives in rotation a roller 15 schematically in dashed lines which delivers an adhesive tape flexible 3 also shown in dashed lines.
- This ribbon has an adhesive side 3.1 and a non-adhesive side 3.2.
- a block of support 19 is mounted fixed between the flanges 7 and 8. This block 19 carries a wrapping head 20 which ensures wrapping the bundle 1 by the ribbon 3.
- Guiding the path of the ribbon 3 towards the head wrapping 20 is provided by two guide rollers 17, 18 mounted between the flanges 7 and 8 perpendicularly to these.
- this wrapping head 20 comprises two guidance and shaping 21 and 40 fixed on the block 19 and having V-shaped surfaces 22, 41 located in the extension of one another.
- These organs guiding and shaping have as main function initiate a transverse folding of the ribbon 3 so that it print a shape of gutter.
- the organ 40 is presented under the shape of a block forming on the one hand a re-entering dihedral 41 and on the other hand an outgoing dihedral 42 having respective edges 43, 44 which are perpendicular to each other.
- the edge 43 of the re-entrant dihedral 41 is substantially parallel to bundle 1 and is aligned with the bottom 22.1 of the surface 22 with a V-profile of the member 21.
- the angles of the dihedrons 41 and 42 are substantially equal.
- the member 40 also presents, at the intersection dihedrons 41, 42, a V-shaped return edge 40.1 which ensures a reversal and a longitudinal folding of the ribbon (3), as will be better explained later.
- the surface 22 with a V-profile of the member 21 has two end edges 23 turned one towards each other so as to form stops for maintaining the longitudinal edges 5 of the ribbon 3.
- the wrapping head 20 also includes a first pair of jaws 24 mounted on a block 19 for pivot around two axes 25 parallel to the edges of bottom 22.1 and 43 of surfaces 22 and 21 with a V-profile. Jaws 24 rotate in opposing movements between an open position and a closed position to which they are recalled by a recall body elastic 26.
- This return member is here produced under the shape of a helical spring coupled by each of its two ends to nipples 27 integral with the jaws 24.
- the pins 27 are arranged so that, when the opening of the jaws 24, the spring 27 passes from the other side of the plane defined by axes 25 so that cross a "hard point" beyond which this spring 26 maintains the jaws 24 in their open position.
- the jaws 24 In their closed position, the jaws 24 have two facing faces 28 pressed one against the other and define between them a passage orifice 29 larger in diameter than the sheathed and arranged beam substantially in the extension of the bottom 22.1 of the surface 22 with a V-profile of the guide and setting member in shape 21.
- the face 28 On either side of the orifice 29, the face 28 has a flat contact surface.
- the face 28 is provided with an elongated relief 30 of rounded section extending in a direction substantially inclined with respect to the axis of the passage opening 29, i.e. with respect to the longitudinal direction of beam 1.
- the jaws 24 are associated with a means of synchronization of their antagonistic pivoting.
- This means of synchronization here has two gear wheels 31 mounted on the pivot axes 25 of the jaws 24 so as to mesh with each other.
- One of these wheels is integral in rotation with one of the jaws 24 while the other wheel is integral in rotation with the other jaw.
- the attachment of the wheels 31 and the jaws 24 is ensured by means of a shaft 32 extending along the axis 25 and passing through the block 19, the wheels 31 being arranged on the opposite side of block 19 with respect to jaws 24.
- the opening of the jaws 24 is controlled by a lever 33 which is mounted on the chassis 6 to pivot around an axis perpendicular to the flanges 7 and 8 and which is connected via two tie rods 34 to jaws 24.
- the wrapping head 20 also includes a second pair of jaws 35 mounted on block 19 between the first pair of jaws 24 and the member 21. These jaws 35 can pivot around the axes 25 according to antagonistic movements between an open position and a closed position towards which they are recalled by an associated elastic return member 36 here produced in the form of a spring rod curved in shape of U. In their closed position, the jaws 35 define between them an orifice 37 forming a die pre-winding of the ribbon 3 on the bundle 1. This orifice is located substantially in the extension of the bottom 22.1 of the V-shaped surface 22 of the guide member and shaping 21. In the example illustrated, the sector 37 is flared at its axial end close to the guidance and shaping 21, as can be seen in the Figure 6; it is generally in the form of a funnel.
- each of the jaws 24 is fitted with a stop member 38 which projects below the jaws 35 to drive it in rotation during pivoting of the jaws 24 to their open position.
- the tool is also equipped with alignment members, here made in the form of two grooved pulleys 45, 46 arranged on either side of the wrapping head 20 to cooperate with the beam 1.
- These pulleys ensure the relative alignment of this beam with the holes 29 and 37 of the first and second pairs of jaws 24, 35 and with the bottom 22.1 of the member 21 and the edge 43 of the reference member 40.
- the details of realization of these two pulleys 45, 46 is shown in the Figure 2 and Figures 4 and 5.
- the pulley 45 is fixedly mounted on the chassis 6, while the pulley 46 is mounted on the chassis 6 to pivot around an axis 47 perpendicular to the flanges 7, 8.
- the pulley 46 can thus be raised so as to facilitate the installation of the ribbon 3 on the wrapping head 20.
- Cladding of bundle 1 with the tool according to the invention which has just been described operates in the manner next.
- the roller 15 is placed beforehand on the support 14, then the ribbon 3 is engaged on the guides 17, 18, the return member 40 and the wrapping head 20.
- the ribbon 3 follows the shape of the outgoing dihedral 42 of the reference 40, its adhesive face 3.1 then also forming a outgoing dihedral. Downstream of the dihedral 42, the ribbon 3 is plated against the re-entrant dihedral 41, so that the adhesive face 3.1 of the ribbon 3 forms a re-entrant dihedral.
- the shape of the ribbon 3 is that of a V-shaped section profile.
- guide and shaping 21 guides and maintains the ribbon 3 in its profile shape. We will note here the role played by the end ledges 23, 22 which is to ensure maintaining the free end of the ribbon 3 against the surface 22, that is to say in the waiting position.
- the two pairs of jaws 24 and 35 are open and the ribbon 3 is introduced into the delimited space by them.
- Beam 1 is pressed into the bottom of the profile formed by the ribbon 3 and the jaws 24 and 35 are closed by lowering lever 33, under the effect of elastic return members 26 and 36.
- the beam and the cladding part 4 which surrounds it are received in the ports 29 and 37.
- the alignment pulleys 45, 46 are engaged on beam 1 and the tool is advanced along this beam.
- the ribbon 3 is delivered by the roller 15 and is gradually closed on beam 1 by the return 40 and the wrapping head 20.
- the guide and shaping member 21 ensures a primer for folding the ribbon 3 as well as its centering by relation to beam 1.
- FIGS. 10a, 11a, 12a show views in section corresponding to the various constituent organs of the wrapping head for a small diameter beam comprising a single wire. While in Figures 10b, 11b, 12b the same views have been shown for one more beam large diameter with four wires.
- variable opening of the second pair of jaws with elastic return allows large variations in diameter to be tolerated without affect the quality of the sheathing performed.
- the bundle may include more than four sons.
- the jaws 24 ensure complete closure and bonding of edges side 5 of the ribbon 3.
- the linear reliefs 30 formed on the facing faces 28 of the jaws $ 24 ensure bonding regular maximum quality by hunting as you go the tape running the air contained between the edges sides of this ribbon.
- Port 29 defined by the jaws 24 is slightly larger in diameter than the diameter of the sheathed bundle 1, so that this orifice is not in support against the sheathed beam and does not prevent closing jaws so that the reliefs 30 of the faces 28 exert a pressure of plating of the lateral edges 5 of the ribbon 3 against each other.
- the tool is fitted with a blade 48 mounted on a support arm 49 itself rotatably mounted on chassis 6 to pivot around an axis 49.1 perpendicular to the flanges 7, 8 and integral an actuating handle 49.2.
- the support arm 49 can pivot between a retracted position between the flanges 7, 8 and an extended position shown in lines mixed, in which the blade 48 extends beyond the ribbon 3, arm 49 being biased towards its retracted position by a spring 49.3. So it is enough actuate lever 49.2 to rotate arm 49 by direction of the ribbon 3 so as to cut the latter with blade 48. This cutting function is used at the end of sheathing.
- FIG. 13 a variant of realization of the tool described above. This tool is not differs from that previously described only by the fact than the handles previously referenced in 9, 10 and 11 have been deleted, handle 9 having been replaced by a vice 50 for fixing to a table 51. The cladding is then fixed and the beam 1 is scrolled on the wrapping head 20 and the alignment pulleys 46.
- FIGS 14 to 16 show a tool for cladding according to a second embodiment of the invention.
- This tool comprises, as in the first embodiment, a chassis 60 formed of two flanges 61, 62 and equipped a handle 63 parallel to the sheathed beam housed in the wrapping head and overhanging the latter and a support 64 for the roll 15 of adhesive tape 3 previously described.
- This tool is intended to be pulled out the beam unlike the first embodiment where it is pushed onto the beam.
- the tool In the lower part of chassis 60, the tool includes a wrapping head 65 which ensures the setting in place and close the ribbon 3 on the harness 1.
- the wrapping head 65 here comprises a member guide and shaping 68 of the ribbon 3, integral with the chassis 60.
- This member is here made in one piece V-shaped profile. It has an inner surface 69 with a V-profile and a V-shaped return edge 70, located in a plane whose normal is inclined (approximately at 45 °) relative to the longitudinal direction of the beam 1.
- the edge 70 therefore has a configuration similar to that of the edge 40.1 of the first embodiment and like the latter, ensures the inversion and folding longitudinal of the ribbon 3 so as to give it a shape gutter.
- the guiding and shaping member 68 furthermore has two lateral end flanges 71 turned towards each other so as to form stops for maintaining the longitudinal edges of the ribbon 3.
- the wrapping head 65 also includes a first pair of jaws 72 mounted on the chassis 60 to pivot around two axes 73 parallel to the edge of bottom of surface 69 in V-profile. Jaws 72 rotate in antagonistic movements between a open position and a closed position. The pivoting of the jaws 72 is controlled by two tie rods 74 connected to a lever 75 mounted on the chassis 60 for pivot around an axis 76 perpendicular to the flanges 61, 62 of chassis 60. This lever 75 is returned by a spring compression 77 in the closed position of the jaws 72.
- the jaws 72 have two rollers 78 freely rotatable to form, in position closure, drums for plating and bonding longitudinal edges 5 of the ribbon 3, as is better visible in Figure 15.
- the jaws 72 delimit between them a passage orifice 79 whose transverse dimensions are greater than the diameter of the sheathed beam.
- This passage opening is adjacent to the rollers 78 and is arranged substantially in the extension of the bottom edge of the surface 69 with a V-profile of the guiding and shaping member 68.
- the wrapping head 65 also includes a second pair of jaws 80 mounted on the chassis 60 between the first pair of jaws 72 and the guiding and shaping 68. These jaws 80 can rotate around axes 73 in antagonistic movements between an open position and a closure to which they are recalled by an organ associated elastic return 95. In their position closure, the jaws 80 define between them a orifice 81 forming a pre-winding die for the ribbon 3 on harness 1.
- the opening of the second pair of jaws 80 is controlled by opening the first pair of jaws 72.
- Each of the jaws 72 is indeed equipped of a drive lug 82 which extends projecting between the jaws 80 to drive them during pivoting jaws 72 to their open position.
- the tool is equipped with organs alignment produced in the form of grooved pulleys 85, 86, arranged on either side of the wrapping head 65 to cooperate with the beam 1, respectively in upstream and downstream of the wrapping head 65 by reference in the direction of travel of the beam 1.
- These pulleys ensure the relative alignment of the beam 1 with the holes 79 and 81 of the first and second pairs of jaws 72 and 80 and with the bottom of the profile surface in V 69 of organ 68.
- the tool includes an additional guide 87 constituted by two half-rollers 88 forming between them a groove 89 intended to receive the beam 1.
- the two half-rollers 88 are carried by two arms 90 mounted on the frame 60 for pivoting between a closed position in which the two half-rollers 88 are joined and form the guide groove 89 of the beam 1 and a open position in which the two half rollers 88 are separated from each other to allow passage of beam 1.
- the jaws 90 pivot around axes 73. Their opening and closing are controlled by two tie rods 91 coupled to a common lever 92 which is mounted on the chassis 60 to pivot around a axis 93 perpendicular to the flanges 61, 62 of this chassis.
- the lever 92 is returned to the closed position of the jaws 90 by a compression spring 94.
- the opening of the additional guide 87 can therefore be ordered by the lever 92 independently of the jaws 72 and 80. This functionality is particularly useful for crossing beam diversions because it allows cross the bypass without opening the jaws 72 and 80 of the wrapping head, i.e. without interrupting cladding.
