Definitions
- the present invention relates to self-adhesive devices intended for the interior decoration of the house, in particular the decoration of walls, wall tiles and in general for decorating surfaces generally smooth.
- the present invention aims to provide self-adhesive devices to obtain relief decorations on a support generally flat, especially on a wall tile.
- the pressure-sensitive self-adhesive device for decorating a flat vitrified surface in particular a earthenware
- the pressure-sensitive self-adhesive device for decorating a flat vitrified surface, in particular a earthenware
- it comprises at least one support under form of film with one side covered with an adhesive sensitive to pressure and the other side is covered at least in part by a pattern decorative, and a relatively thick and flexible layer of material transparent covering at least said decorative pattern, said layer having rounded upper edges of decreasing thickness free of any angular roughness, said device making it possible to transform, reversibly, a simple and flat earthenware tile into a decorated tile in relief.
- the device also comprises a sheet of adhesive protection placed on the adhesive side of the support, in order to protect said adhesive side until the time of use.
- the device may also include an adhesive sheet easily removable on the outside of the transparent layer.
- the function of this sheet is to protect the front transparent layer and during the application of the device on the receiving surface to be decorated. She also allows, in the case where the decoration consists of several decorative elements, glued separately, to maintain a positioning relative precision of these different decorative elements.
- the adhesive sheet plays here a role of both protector and applicator.
- the invention also relates to the method for producing a earthenware tile decorated in relief by the use of one or more devices described above for reversibly transforming a tile simple and flat earthenware in a decorated and raised tile as well as the tile coated with at least one decorative device.
- the invention proposes a device or complex multi-layer self-adhesive comprising a layer of adhesive sensitive to pressure, a printed thin film and a thick, flexible layer, transparent.
- the adhesive mass covering one face of the support is, preferably a pressure sensitive adhesive mass with strong adhesive power and not sensitive to humidity.
- a pressure sensitive adhesive mass with strong adhesive power and not sensitive to humidity.
- the adhesive power of the mass is such that a stable fixing is obtained, durable under high relative humidity conditions, but removable by tearing when the device is fixed on a support vitrified such as an earthenware tile.
- the adhesive mass is deposited on the entire surface of the support film, at a rate of approximately 30 to 80 g per m 2 and protected by a peelable film or paper (generally a silicone paper).
- the support film is flexible, very little stretch and low thickness.
- Synthetic material films can be transparent, tinted or chromed. Films are preferably used in polyester thickness 20 to 50 ⁇ m or PVC films from 40 to 90 ⁇ m.
- the side of the film receiving the adhesive mass layer can be treated particular, for example a CORONA treatment, in order to promote the adhesion of the adhesive layer on this face of the film.
- the other side of the film receives an ink print, preferably in several colors, according to decorative patterns.
- an ink print preferably in several colors, according to decorative patterns.
- the printed side of the support film is covered by a layer thick flexible and perfectly transparent synthetic material.
- thick layer we understand a thickness between 1 and 6 mm, the layer which can be all the thicker as the device has a larger surface.
- a decorative device one of the dimensions will be less than 1 cm, the thickness of the layer will be 1 to 2 mm whereas for a pattern where none of the dimensions is less than 2.5 to 3 cm, the thickness at the center of the device can reach 3 to 4 mm.
- the material used to form this thick layer is essentially chosen among fluid synthetic resins, mono or two-component, polymerizable or crosslinkable to form a flexible layer and present a perfectly smooth and transparent surface.
- this thick layer which treats each device individually, is such that all of the top edges of the layer are rounded, forming a curved surface continues up to the limit of the support film.
- This particular feature of the device configuration gives an appearance embossed with the printed pattern and makes it possible to obtain, after fixing on a tile flat earthenware, a 3-dimensional structure with a surface without roughness.
- a half-flesh cut of the complex is carried out by cutting the support film (without cutting the protective paper) around each of the decorative elements that one wishes to keep and we part the supporting film separating the different elements.
- a strip of non-stick paper generally a silicone paper
- the shape of each of the elements can be variable and depends essentially on the artistic representation.
- the strip thus obtained is deposited on a perfectly horizontal surface, the printed face being in the upper part.
- a necessary and sufficient volume of semi-liquid transparent resin is then deposited on each of the printed elements; the volume is calculated precisely as a function of the surface to obtain a layer whose thickness can be between 1 and 5 mm.
- a layer whose thickness can be between 1 and 5 mm For example, to cover a decorative element whose surface is 8 cm 2 , we will use about 1.8 to 2 cm 3 of resin to obtain a final thickness of 2.5 mm.
- the printed element being arranged perfectly horizontally, the transparent resin is distributed over the entire surface of the element under the effect of gravity. If we limit our to a thickness of less than approximately 5 mm (for an element of at least 5 cm 2 ) the resin deposited in the center of the decorated element spreads to the edge and does not flow to the beyond the cutting.
- a thick layer is thus obtained, the edges of which go in decreasing thickness with a rounded shape free from any angular roughness, due to the surface tensions of the resin.
- the regularly spread resin is then hardened, for example by crosslinking under the effect of heat or radiation.
- a thin layer of transparent varnish can optionally be applied by spraying in order to improve the mechanical resistance of the thick layer against external aggressions.
- Adhesive decoration devices are thus obtained regularly arranged on the non-stick paper strip. We then cover these devices on the free face of the thick layer of a translucent strip of paper covered with pressure-sensitive adhesive (applicator paper).
- the complex thus obtained is then cut to obtain either elements individual, or groups of several decorative elements. Of preferably, especially in the case of grouped elements, cutting is done so as to obtain shapes and dimensions corresponding to the surface of common earthenware tiles, for example 10 x 10 cm or 5 x 20 cm.
- the device or complex 10 comprises a relatively thin support film 1, covered on the underside 7 of a layer of adhesive mass 2; the upper side 8 is printed in a decorative pattern with ink 3; a thick layer 5 a transparent polymer covers at least the printing with ink 3 and, preferably the entire upper face 8 of the support film 1, said layer with rounded edges.
- the entire complex 10 is protected on its adhesive underside with a non-stick sheet 4, for example a siliconized paper and on its upper side by an adhesive applicator paper translucent 6.
- Each of the patterns 3 has a curved shape and occupies an area of the order of 2 to 5 cm 2 , shown in FIG. 2.
- the PVC film is cut around each of the printed patterns 3, without cutting the protective sheet of silicone paper (cut to half-flesh), and the unprinted parts 9 are ribbed so as to leave on the strip of protective sheet only the printed fragments 3.
- the strip is then placed horizontally on a support and it is poured gently on each of the printed elements 3 a quantity of semi-liquid resin of the order of 0.15 cm 3 / cm 2 .
- a two-component polyurethane resin crosslinkable by temperature is used.
- the resin spreads regularly over the surface of each of the elements 3 to form a regular layer of approximately 1.5 to 2 mm thick but without going beyond the outline of the receiving pattern, this due to the surface tension.
- Crosslinking is then carried out under a radiating vault and then the adhesive devices are allowed to cool.
- the upper face is covered with a strip of adhesive paper 6 with low adhesive power (applicator) which protects the surface of the resin.
- the complex strip obtained is then cut into square fragments of dimension 10 x 10 cm, along lines 11, so that keep the positioning of the decorative elements.
