This has the disadvantage that the grinding machines are sprayed, which reduces the grinding efficiency and increases the risk of rupture of the plates. Furthermore, the steps of a ring are offset from the steps of an adjacent ring, that is to say that the steps are not aligned axially. This causes shear forces which increase the speed of wear of the plates on the edges.
