  1. Espagnolette or espagnolette lock comprising a casing (9) designed capable of being positioned in a cut-out (7) provided for this purpose in the rabbet of a leaf (2) of a door, window or similar, said casing (9) containing a control mechanism (10) comprising at least one tumbler (13) capable of being driven in rotation by means of an operating handle, on this tumbler (13), provided with an appropriate toothing (16), meshing a rack (17), on the one hand, equipping an operating rod (11, 11A) or a trestle (18) connected with the latter, and, on the other hand, inserted, substantially, between said tumbler (13) and a faceplate (12) at the back of which extends, above and/or below the casing (9), the operating rod or rods (11, 11A), in the bottom (22) of the casing (9) being installed a semicircular case (23) coaxial to the tumbler (13) for receiving and guiding the latter, characterised in that the semicircular case (23) includes a semi-cylindrical wall (24) provided with an opening (25), in the periphery of the hub (15) of the tumbler (13) extending a circular or semicircular edge (26) designed to be inserted in the thickness (28) of said semi-cylindrical wall (24), at the level of said opening (25) without emerging through the latter.
  2. Espagnolette or espagnolette lock according to claim 1, characterised in that in the faceplate (12) is provided for an opening (33) for receiving, at least partially and slidingly in its thickness (34), the rack (17) meshing on the tumbler (13).
  3. Espagnolette or espagnolette lock according to claim 2, characterised in that on the internal side at the level of the lateral walls (41, 42) of the casing (9) are provided for guiding grooves (50), ending in the front portion of said casing (9) and in which is also inserted the rack (17), at the level of its longitudinal sides (51, 52).
  4. Espagnolette or espagnolette lock according to any of the preceding claims, characterised in that the tumbler (13) includes a locking bolt (35) capable of tilting in locked position outside the box (9) through an elongate aperture (36) provided for this purpose in the rack (17).
  5. Espagnolette or espagnolette lock according to claim 4, characterised in that the rack (17) is defined by two parallel legs (37, 38) provided, each, with a toothing (39) capable of co-operating with toothings (16) assuming a symmetrical arrangement on both sides of the locking bolt (35) at the level of the tumbler (13).
  6. Espagnolette or espagnolette lock according to any of the preceding claims, characterised in that on the internal side of the casing (9) the side walls (41, 43) of the latter are provided with recesses (43) in the form of cradles ending at the level of the front edge of these lateral walls (41, 42), these recesses (43) being adapted for receiving circular bosses (44) equipping on both sides the hub (15) of the tumbler (13).

Espagnolette or espagnolette lock according to any of the preceding claims, characterised in that the casing (9) is of the monoblock type, the side walls (41, 42) and the peripheral wall (45), in particular, the bottom (22) of this casing (9) forming one single aggregate in which can be positioned the components of the control mechanism (10) by insertion through the aperture (46) in the front of said casing (9).
  8. Espagnolette or espagnolette lock according to any of the preceding claims, characterised in that it includes operating rods (11, 11A) functioning in opposite direction, one of the latter (11A) being actuated by the trestle (18) through a reversing gearwheel (19) mounted in the casing (9).
  9. Espagnolette or espagnolette lock according to claim 8, characterised in that the reversing gearwheel (19) is mounted in the casing (9) pivotally about an axis (48) parallel to the faceplate (12), the side walls (41, 42) of said casing (9) including, internally with respect to the latter, recesses in the form of cradles (47) for receiving axle ends (48) on which is mounted said reversing gearwheel (19).
