Definitions

  • the invention is based on a method for determining the location of a mobile radio station according to the preamble of independent claim 1 and on a fixed station for transmitting location information according to the preamble of independent claim 6.
  • a method for determining the approximate location of a mobile device is already known from EP 0 290 725 B1

  • the coding thus already represents location information, so that different radiation fields are characterized by different coding. If the mobile radio station 1 moves through the first radiation field 25, it receives radio signals with the first coding. Via its transmitting / receiving antenna 45, the mobile radio station 1 then sends a message to the station 35 as a function of the coding of the received signal.
  • the mobile radio station 1 can do this by coding the received signal Signals the location information about the stay in the first radiation field 25 are derived so that the message sent to the station 35 already contains this location information. However, it is also possible for the mobile radio station 1 to forward the received signal to the station 35 unprocessed, so that the location information in the station 35 must be derived from the coding of this signal.
  • the station 35 is preferably stationary and, in the exemplary embodiment described, is the center of a monitoring system. However, it is also possible to carry out the station 35 in a mobile manner in order to be able to exercise non-stationary control over the mobile radio station 1 in this way. In any case, the location of the mobile station is determined in the station 35 on the basis of the message transmitted by the mobile radio station 1
  • Radio station 1 is determined in one of the two radiation fields 25 and 30. If the message contains signals with the first coding, for example, the first radiation field 25 is determined in the station 35 as the location of the mobile radio station 1. In the event that appropriate location information has already been derived in the mobile radio station 1 from the received signal with the first coding and sent to the station 35 as a message, the station 35 also determines the first radiation field 25 from this location information as the location of the mobile radio station 1 .
  • the mobile radio station 1 Due to the different coding of the radio signals emitted via the first transmission antenna 15 and via the second transmission antenna 20, in addition to the location of the mobile radio station 1 in one of the two radiation fields 25 and 30 of the radiation area 5, it is also possible for the mobile radio station 1 to move in the radiation area 5 of the base station 10 determine when the mobile radio station 1 changes the radiation field. In this case, differently coded signals are received in the mobile radio station 1 within a predetermined period of time. If the mobile radio station 1 moves from the first radiation field 25 into the second radiation field 30, first radio signals with the first coding and then radio signals with the second coding are received. Are therefore both within the predetermined period in the station 35 for the mobile radio station 1
  • Radiation fields 25 and 30 determined as a location the station 35 detects a movement of the mobile radio station 1 in the radiation area 5 of the base station 10 during the predetermined period. In the example shown in the figure, this is a movement from the first
  • Radiation field 25 into the second radiation field 30 If the times of arrival of the differently coded signals in the mobile radio station 1 are also detected and taken into account in the station 35, the direction of movement of the mobile radio station 1 can also be determined
  • station 35 first receives the message from mobile radio station 1 about its presence in first radiation field 25 and then a corresponding message about its presence in second radiation field 30. From this station 35 can then determine the movement of the mobile radio station 1 from the first radiation field 25 into the second Derive radiation field 30. To check the direction of movement of the mobile radio station 1, the determined direction of movement in the station 35 can be compared with a predetermined direction of movement. If the direction of movement of the mobile radio station 1 does not correspond to the specified direction of movement, the station 35 triggers an alarm.
  • the method can thus be used particularly advantageously in surveillance systems in which a guard is equipped with a mobile radio device 1 and, for example, takes a predetermined tour of a building to be guarded.
  • Fixed stations 10 are installed on the doors or passageways to be passed, so that in station 35, which can be located in a security center, in addition to the location on one of the two sides of the corresponding passageway, the direction in which the Security guard passes through the appropriate passage. If this direction does not correspond to the specified direction, an alarm is triggered in station 35. Should one of the two transmitting antennas 15 and 20 fail, there is still a limited possibility for determining the location of the mobile radio station 1 in the radiation field of the still intact transmitting antenna. However, direction of movement can no longer be determined in station 35. This can then be used as an indication that an error has occurred in the monitoring system, so that in this way it is possible to control the functionality of the fixed stations 10 installed in the system. When using several fixed stations 10, for example in the monitoring system described, the differ
  • more than two transmitting antennas can also be provided for the base station 10, which likewise each emit differently coded radio signals in different directions in such a way that the radiation area 5 of the base station 10 is divided into corresponding radiation fields which do not significantly overlap. In this way, the location, movement and direction of movement of the mobile radio station 1 in the radiation area 5 of the base station 10 can be determined even more precisely.
