Beschädigungen der vorbereiteten Rolle werden somit vermieden und Störungen beim Rollenwechsel minimiert. Vorteilhaft ist, daß eine Mehrzahl von mit Klebemitteln versehene Rollen in einem Zwischenlager gespeichert ist, wodurch eine Vorbereitungsstation einer Mehrzahl von Rollenwechslern zugeordnet werden kann.
In diesem Lager können verschiedenartige, vorbereitete Rollen (z. B. Rollenbreite, Grammatur usw.) auf ihnen zugeordneten , getrennten Gleisen gelagert sein, die dann wählbar entnommen werden können.
Die Flexibilität des Rollenwechslers wird somit bei gleichzeitiger Reduzierung der Anzahl der Vorbereitungsstationen erhöht.

Eine Anlage zum automatischen Transport von Rollen 1 aus einem Lager zu Rollenwechsler 2 einer Rotationsdruckmaschine ist folgendermaßen aufgebaut:
Aus einem Monatslager 3 werden die stehenden Rollen 1 von einem Klammerstapler 4 zu einer nichtdargestellten Rollfläche transportiert und auf diese liegend (d.h. mit einer Längsachse der Rolle 7 annähernd horizontal) abgelegt. Die Umladestation 13 stößt die Rollen 11 auf einen Transportwagen 16. Solche an sich bekannte Transportwagen 16 sind beispielsweise schienengefuhrt. Dabei weist der Transportwagen 16 vier Laufrollen 18 auf die auf einem Paar Schienen 17 rollen. Anstelle einem aus einem Paar Schienen 17 kann auch eine einzige Schiene vorgesehen sein. Der im folgenden, verwendete Ausdruck "Gleis" umfaßt sowohl eine einzige Schiene als auch mehrere, parallel verlaufende Schienen. Zum Antrieb dieses Transportwagens 16 ist beispielsweise ein unterflur verlaufender Schleppförderer vorgesehen, der im vorliegenden Ausführungsbeispiel als umlaufende Kette ausgebildet ist. Mit dieser Kette ist der Transportwagen 16 zumindest zeitweise verbunden. An einem Gestell 19 des Transportwagens 16 ist z. B. eine muldenartige Schale zur Aufnahme der Rolle 11 angebracht. Diese als Schale ausgebildete Aufnahme 21 ragt aus einem Boden 22 des Lagerraumes heraus, während der Transportwagen 16 im Boden 22 des Lagerraumes weitgehend versenkt verläuft.

Im dargestellten Ausführungsbeispiel ist die Länge eines Gleises des Zwischenlagers 39 so ausgelegt, daß beispielsweise drei mit jeweils einer Rolle 24 beladene Transportwagen 16 in einem ausgewählten Gleis 31; 32; 33; 34; 36; 37; 38 geparkt werden. Method of transporting reels (1; 7; 11; 24; 44) to a reel changer (2) by means of transport carriages (16), the reels (1; 7; 11; 24; 44) being provided with adhesives in a preparation station (26), then in each case being loaded directly onto a transport carriage (16) and the respective prepared reels [sic] (24) being transported on its associated transport carriage (16) as far as the reel changer (2), in which the prepared reel (24) is mounted from this transport carriage (16) directly onto a shaft in the reel changer (2), with a plurality of these transport carriages (16) each loaded with a prepared reel (24) being stored in an intermediate store (39) interposed between the preparation station (26) and the reel changer (2), the transport carriages (16) loaded with the prepared reels (24) being intermediately stored on a plurality of selectable tracks (31; 32; 33; 34; 36; 37; 38; 63; 64; 66), characterized in that a transport carriage (16) loaded with a run-off or partially run-off residual reel (44) is mounted on a selected track (63; 64; 66) of the intermediate store (39).

Method of transporting reels (1; 7; 11; 24; 44) to a reel changer (2) by means of transport carriages (16), the reels (1; 7; 11; 44) being provided with adhesives in a preparation station (26), then in each case being loaded directly onto a transport carriage (16) and the respective prepared reels [sic] (24) being transported on its associated transport carriage (16) as far as the reel changer (2), in which the prepared reel (24) is mounted from this transport carriage (16) directly onto a shaft in the reel changer (2), with a plurality of these transport carriages (16) each loaded with a prepared reel (24) being stored in an intermediate store (39) interposed between the preparation station (26) and the reel changer (2), the transport carriages (16) loaded with the prepared reels (24) being intermediately stored on a plurality of selectable tracks (31; 32; 33; 34; 36; 37; 38; 63; 64; 66), characterized in that a feeding transport carriage (27) travelling to a selected track (31) of the intermediate store (39) and a removing transport carriage (41) positioned before one end of a selected track (31; 32; 33; 34; 36; 37, 38) of the intermediate store (39) are in each case moved at right angles to the tracks (31; 32; 33; 34; 36; 37; 38; 63; 64; 66) of the intermediate store (39) and in each case are loaded with a transport carriage (16) loaded with a prepared reel (24).
