1 illustrates a device 1 for attaching an insert 2 to a free-standing surface of printed sheets (not shown) transported one after the other along a guide arrangement 3. The side view of the device 1 is perpendicular to the one support plane for the printed sheets lying on a saddle-shaped collecting section of a saddle stitcher. The device 1 has a frame 4 connected to the saddle stitcher, on which a gripper drum 5 is mounted parallel to the support plane of the guide arrangement 3 by means of a motor-driven shaft 6. The gripper drum 5 shown has three gripper devices 7 distributed around its circumference, which are mechanically controlled for opening and closing according to their functions during rotation about the axis of rotation 17 of the gripper drum 5. These control processes are known, so they are no longer described here. The gripper device 7 shown are each provided with two gripper arms 9 fastened to a control shaft, which, when the gripper device 7 is closed, cooperate with its bent end with the surface of the gripper drum 5 or hold an insert 2 until it is transferred.
A magazine 10 for stacking supplements 2 is also fastened to the frame 4, the lowest of which is displaced to the gripper drum 5 by a feed device 11. The back and forth movement takes place with a mechanically or pneumatically driven slide plate 12, which detects the bottom insert 2 of the stack and pushes it in tangential connection to the gripper drum 5 of an open gripper device 7. The gripper arms 9 of an open gripper device 7 have passed the detection point before the insert 2 is located there. The gripper arms 7 jump back through the shaft 8, which is rotatably driven by a spring or control cam, back into the closed position and there grasp the insert 2 in the front edge region on the circumference of the gripper drum 5. where it comes to the bottom of the insert again. A firm connection between slide plate 12 and insert 2 is created by openings 14 in slide plate 12 which on the one hand face the insert 2 and on the other hand are connected to a vacuum source via a control valve (not shown). By means of an applied vacuum, the lowermost insert 2 adheres to the slide plate 12, which is driven in the same direction as its rotary movement in time with the rotating gripper devices 7 and in the transfer position. This process takes place in a continuous process, so that the supplement 2 then assumes a stable position. The subsequent path of the insert 2 leads past an adhesive supply device 15, which applies the adhesive used to the insert 2 as it passes through it. In the exemplary embodiment shown, a spray device is provided for this purpose, which applies the liquid adhesive.
On the further path, the insert 2 leaves the gripper drum 5 and is thereby clamped in a band guide 16 in an area uncoated by adhesive. This tape guide 16 connects the circumference of the gripper drum 5 to the pressure roller 19 rotating about a parallel axis 18, which resiliently abuts the adjacent support plane of the guide arrangement 3, so that printed sheets of different thickness can pass between the guide arrangement 3 and the pressure roller 19. The belt guide 16 or transport path between the gripper drum 5 and the pressure roller 19 is formed by two endless belts 20, 21 which each rotate around several axes and which abut one another back to back in the region of the belt guide 16. Both belts 20, 21 have the same speed and in the sense of a favorable guiding of the inserts 2, they are designed in two versions laterally spaced apart on the width of the drooling drum 5. One of the circumferential pairs of belts 20 lies, on the one hand, approximately on the orbit of the gripper devices 7 on the circumference of the gripper drum 5 and, on the other hand, is redirected again on the pressure roller 19 arranged at a distance. The belts 20 of a pair can be laterally offset, below or outside of the gripper devices 7. To avoid a slippage effect, at least this pair of belts 20 is positively drive-connected to the gripper drum 5, for example by toothed belts. The opposite pair of belts 21 on the section of the belt guide 16 preferably drives synchronously driven around three pairs of deflecting rollers 22, 23, 24, of which the deflecting rollers 22, a seamless connection to the orbit of the inserts 2 on the gripper devices 7 and with the pair of deflecting rollers 23 the belt guide 16 form, wherein the deflection rollers 23 have a relatively small diameter in order to be able to pull the inserts 2 as close as possible into the gap-shaped transfer point between the guide arrangement 3 and the pressure roller 19. The third pair of guide rollers 24 serves to form an economical arrangement and construction of the circulating belts 21.
The direction of rotation of the drooling drum 5 is indicated by arrow F and the arrows D and E apply to the direction of rotation of the belt pairs 20, 21.

Fig. 2 zeigt weiterhin eine auf den Stapel der Beilagen 26 einwirkende Ausgleichsvorrichtung 30, die entgegen der Stapelbildungsrichtung durch Einwirken auf die Kanten der Beilagen 26 einen Ausrichteffekt ausübt, wozu sich beispielsweise umlaufende endlose Bänder eignen.2, the device 1 according to FIG. 1 is in combination united with a feeder 25, known as a sheet feeder is. This construction is not suitable for rigid inserts 2 to be separated from a stack. The solution of the invention In a further development, task allows the possibility your existing infrastructure with an investor 25 to combine for flexible supplements. That is, on the existing Frame 4 is in relation to the orbit of the gripper devices 5 an additional separator 28 arranged for this ensures that the bottom of the stack Supplement 26 is lifted off so that it is one of the circumferential Gripper devices 7 can be detected, the detection process as with the inserted supplement 2 according to the device 1 is done. The separating device 28 consists inter alia. out a suction head 29 attached to a swivel arm, which on a vacuum source (not visible) connected and with the circumferential gripper devices 7 interacting clockwise is controlled. Fig. 2 also shows one on the stack of Supplements 26 acting compensating device 30, the opposite the direction of stack formation by acting on the edges of the Supplements 26 exert an alignment effect, for example continuous endless belts are suitable.

The stack of inserts 26 is on the one hand on a plate 31 and on the other hand on a cyclically activated retainer 32, the shortly before the detection of an insert 26 by the delivered Suction head 29 briefly leaves the support position to the bottom insert 26 for lifting by the suction head 29 indemnify. The inserts 26 processed by the feeder 25 are in the same way by the adhesive supply device 15 sprayed with an adhesive and then onto the printed sheets brought to the guide assembly 3.
