Definitions

  • This invention relates to a hand-operated binder with punch mechanism especially suitable for effecting not only stable punching but also simple and tight binding of documents, papers, and reports.
  • Punches typically includes a base receiving the document to be puched and provided normally in the shape of plate, and a punching portion operated by a human power exerted thereon.
  • Punches further includes a positioner to determine the position to be punched in such that the holes for filing are not biased on one side.
  • the positioner is commonly of a shape of a thin and narrow bar with scales carved therein and arranged to travel across the base of the punch. The center of the document to be punched is defined by adjustment of the positioner.
  • the positions to be punched are decided on the basis of the scales engraved in the positioner, the position of the documents must be varied with see of the doucuments, and so, punching is often executed by the eye. As a consequence, another discord in filing the documents occurs.
  • the conventional positioners serve only as positioning means for documents, the lower portion of the document is disarranged at the time of punching and result in inconsistent punch holes.
  • the conventional punches can receive a relatively small volume of papers at one time, and punching and binding of papers are separately performed employing different devices.
  • paper fastensers available are fixed in their sizes, for example, by 70 or 80 mm in length, and thus, punches should be used according to the see off asteners. Therefore, the filing between the documents each having different punch holes with the see offasteners is not desirable and hard to match with each other.
  • Another object of the present invention is to provide a hollow tubular fastener for use in a binder with a punch mechanism according to the present invention in which a very large volume of records are filed firmly, the preservation and maintenance of records are effective, and in particular, the second filing of records based on the previously filed records is attained.
  • Still another object of the present invention is to provide a plate fastener for use in a binder with a punch mechanism according to the present invention to enhance the protection and appearance of records together with stable binding.
  • the present invention resides in providing a binder with a punch mechanism wherein a jig table moves freely along a longitudinal direction of a base and loading and unloading of the papers to be filed are made thereon.
  • the papers are fixed on the jig table by a clamp and a position aligning means, and then punched by a force exerted on a handle.
  • the fasteners are inserted into holes formed through the above punching process, and pressed around the holes by a pair of hammers provided with the handle.
  • the fastener employed in the binder with the punch mechanism of the present invention is a hollow tubular shape having a head and a body with incised end portion.
  • the binder includes a base 100 on which various elements consisting of the binder with a punch mechanism are installed.
  • the base 10 has a retangular shape and a punch mechanism 200 disposed on one end portion of the base 100.
  • the base 100 has also rubber lug 101 each disposed on the corners of the bottom surface of the base 100 to prevent the binder from being slip when using and to maintain levelling of the binder.
  • the punch mechanism 200 is provided with a handle 300 including a pair of parallel, spaced bars, and the handle 300 is pivotally mounted on the punch mechanism 200 using an axial pin 601.
  • a jig table 400 having an essentially C-shaped cross section is mounted on the base 100 and moves freely along a longitudinal direction of the base 100 so as to provide an area for accommodating papers to be filed.
  • the jig table 400 has a clamp 410 for holding the paper to be filed not littered, and a position aligning means 420 to allow the papers to be disposed at the center there of without biasing on one side.
  • the handle 300 is provided with a pair of hammers 500 which keep a predetermined distance from a rotational axis of the handle 300 and carry out pressing of fastener.
  • the hammers 500 contact snaps as described in further detail later.
  • the jig table 400 is slidably mounted on the base 100 in such a manner that a stopper 401 having threaded openings (not shown) therein, the stopper 401 extending from the back surface of the jig table 400 through a slot 110 to a plane parallel to the back surface of the bottom of the base 100 and placed about the center position of the jig table 400, is threadedly engaged by screws 401A with the support plate, which is across the slot 110 and contacts with the back surface of the bottom of the base 100 at both ends thereof.
  • the slot is formed by a space between a stepped portion 100A of the base 100 and the upper planar portion of the jig table 400, and has a given width and length (FIG. 3). Accordingly, the jig table 400 travels within the slot 110 in sliding contact between the support plate 402 and the back surface of the bottom of the base 100. Namely; when the stopper 401 travels to the leftmost end of the slot 110, the papers are placed ata position in which punching operation is performed, while when the stopper 402 travels to the rightmost end of the slot 110 the papers are positioned placed at a position in which not only pressing of a fastener to bind the papers, but also loading and unloading of the papers are made.
