Definitions

  • the present invention relates to this second category.
  • Examples include folding containers sold in post offices. They are delivered flat to the user and the user must straighten walls or shutters (which is equivalent), maintain them and simultaneously set up the objects to be packed because the container only becomes stable by its final closure.
  • patent US-A-4 750 609 which describes a container exclusively intended for works of art, graphics and other substantially flat objects, that is to say having a large surface. in relation to their thickness. In any case, they can only be articles in one piece, or "unitary”, and in proportions comparable to the length and width of the base on which they are placed (bottom panel 12). Dimensions are also given as an indication which corroborate this view that it is a structural parameter and not a simple choice left to the discretion of a user.
  • This packaging therefore concerns many flat and unitary objects and is done by placing them first on the bottom panel 12, then finishing the container around these objects. This method which is described in column 4, lines 23 to 55.
  • the marginal flaps 14 and 15 are folded so that their part located beyond the fold line F 3 -F 5 is found directly below the bottom panel 12, as said column 4, lines 30 - 32, from which it follows that one cannot place the objects after erection of the container because "in this position, the works of art or graphics are confined between the formed side or marginal flaps 14 and 15 "(column 4, lines 32 - 34).
  • the invention is completely different from this structure and, more generally, remedies to the disadvantages mentioned, by making it possible to provide users, individuals or professionals, a container that incorporates everything necessary for its use practical, which makes any accessory useless, so that it is stable and fixed before the objects to be packed must be put in place.
  • the invention relates to a blank of cardboard or similar material, which is made from at least one flat blank which has all the means of constituting and closing a container, namely on the one hand a base polygonal plane and walls adjacent to the base to be later straightened relative to said base in order to constitute a container body by volume and other share a so-called "closing" panel to close said container body over packaging items of all kinds placed on the base, characterized in that the blank has at least one element which is distinct from the base, the walls and the closure panel, said "separate element", and which is intended to be placed in the final active position during the volume of the body and before disposing of the objects to be packaged on the base, active position in which, on the one hand, the base is completely free and accessible to the objects to be placed on it, and on the other hand it gathers and keeps out of their plan original at least two walls of said blank adjacent to the base other than the panel closure, separate element which must be applied directly against at least one of the walls adjacent to the base, long-acting
  • adheresive is used here when it is a substance which retains its properties for a relatively long time, especially when protected by a ribbon.
  • Such an adhesive is known per se and is sometimes defined by calling it an adhesive "in time permanent grip ", which provides a” self-adhesive surface ".
  • glue should not be confused with the word “adhesive” which relates to a substance which can only be used within a very short time, immediately after putting it on in place, for final fixation, before it has hardened by drying, polymerization, evaporation of solvents and / or cooling.
  • glue When glue is used for the manufacture of containers, it definitively assembles two parts of the blank from which the container is placed in volume by the user, the latter therefore not having no access to the glue, which is an irreversible means of fixing.
  • the adhesive can be of any known type, in particular of the double-sided tape type, often designated by the expression "adhesive transfer tape" or, for example, according to provisions of European patent 431,144 in the name of the applicant.
  • the invention relates the packaging of objects in containers which are manufactured and then delivered in the form of a flat blank, having one or more thicknesses depending on the case, setting up the blank for making it a container being made by the user (and not by the manufacturer).
  • the invention allows its application to containers which have lateral edges which is very useful because they provide excellent protection for the container itself and wrapped objects, against bumps, falls and other accidental efforts violent that any container inevitably undergoes during its handling and transport.
  • a container of this type will be described with reference to FIGS. 1 to 5.
  • the cutting lines are arranged in a two-by-two cross 102, 103 and 104, 105 which determine a base (or bottom) 106, two so-called “transverse” panels 107 and 108 thus as two so-called “side” panels 109 and 110.
  • the precut lines 102, 103, 104 and 105 determine four separate elements 111, 112, 113 and 114, quadrangular in shape and exactly entered in the outline of draft 001 and which, if they were not kept for reasons which will emerge from the description below, would constitute falls to be eliminated in pure loss.
  • pre-folding lines 115, 116, 117 and 118 placed diagonally determine for each separate element two triangular legs 120-121, 122-123, 124-125 and 126-127.
  • this adhesive 130 can be placed by more or less large areas, flat or dotted and, therefore, in continuous lines or discontinuous, straight, curved or broken.
  • the adhesive lines are located substantially halfway up the separate elements and therefore cross the oblique pre-folding lines 117 and 118, which is of great interest, as will be explained below.
  • the blank 001 of FIG. 1 receives glue not only on the triangular legs 120, 122, 125 and 127 but also on two lateral bands 160 and 161 located beyond the lateral edges of the base 106, which widens the blank 002 all the more, both at the base of the walls side 109 and 110 as along the triangular legs 120, 122, 125 and 127.
  • Pre-folding lines 162 and 163 border these bands 160 and 161 and form a separation between the side walls 109-110 and these bands 160-161.
  • Lines 162 and 163 therefore end at diagonal lines 115, 116, 117 and 118.
  • the blank 002 is made ready for use, during manufacture, by folding over the transverse walls 107, 108 and the base 106, on the one hand the wall assembly 109, elements separate 111 and 113 and side strip 160 along the pre-fold line 104, and other share the wall assembly 110, separate elements 112 and 114 and side strip 161 along the pre-folding line 105 ( Figure 2).
  • the side walls 109 and 110 being set back, the transverse walls 107 and 108 extend to the outer limit of edges 165 and 166, thanks to their widening by bands 160 and 161.
  • the side walls 109 and 110 are thus protected on three sides.
  • closure panel 140 is widened by two strips 167 and 168 which are glued against it during the folding of the blank of FIG. 1 to obtain the blank of figure 2.
  • the legs 144 and 145 are connected to these edges 169 and 170 by pre-folding lines 171 and 172.
  • the strips 167 and 168, as well as the reinforcements 173 to 176 can of course be fixed irreversibly to panel 140 other than by adhesive arranged according to the drawing of Figure 1 (including staples in particular), or else the glue can be placed other than on flat surfaces (solid and continuous surfaces), for example: points, pads, lines, etc.
  • the locking tabs 144 and 145 must not be fixed irreversibly since they have to be straightened out of their plan.
  • the blank 001 after manufacturing, is determined by its outer contour cut from a plate and by the pre-folding lines 102, 103, 104, 105 and 115, 116, 117 and 118.
  • the blank 002 of FIG. 2 is therefore ready to be marketed and, to this end, the manufacture is followed by a grouping of several blanks 002, a possible packaging, a storage and delivery to customers, i.e. users.
  • the user receives one or more blanks 002, possibly stores them and then takes them one by one to constitute as many containers.
  • the user After having straightened the locking tabs 144 and 145, the user removes the tape from protection 131 corresponding to the triangular legs 124-125 and 126-127, notes the side walls 109 and 110 according to arrows F4 then the transverse wall 108 according to the arrow F2.
  • the separate elements 113 and 114 being integral with both a wall lateral and transverse wall 108, the straightening of walls 109 and 110 initiates the straightening of the transverse wall 108, so that the user only completes the straightening of this wall 108 by gripping and tightening the wall 108 and the triangular legs 124 and 126.
  • the adhesive 130 is broken down into two segments for each of the separate elements 113 and 114: a segment is on the triangular leg 124-126 and the other on the triangular leg 125-127.
  • tab 124-126 applies vertically (i.e. perpendicular to the pre-folding line 103) against the triangular tab located opposite 125-127, while the segment of this leg 125-127 applies horizontally (i.e. in parallel at the pre-folding line 103) against the triangular tab located opposite 124-126 (see figure 3).
  • the user completes the assembly by pinching the wall 108 and the legs between two fingers triangular 124 and 126.
  • the user has formed only part of the complete container: the base 106, a transverse wall 108 and two side walls 109 and 110. And yet this only part is already stable in itself when it is laid flat, by the base (or bottom) 106, on any flat support such as a table.
  • the user can then use his two hands to place on the base 106 the objects to be pack, the container body thus formed being perfectly stable without the user need to hold it ..
  • legs 144 and 145 removes, between the top of the side walls 109-110 and the closure panel 140, any space through which could, voluntarily or accidentally pass a thin object such as an envelope, a postcard, a sheet or the like, both from the inside to the outside and vice versa outside to inside.
  • the closed box is inviolable, even by fraudulent practices, because when the adhesive 130 of the fixing flap 142 was unmasked and then applied against the wall 108, it is impossible to open the box and access the content other than by destroying an external part, which immediately reveals the fraud and prevents it from being able to to be practiced secretly.
  • the locking tabs 144 and 145 can be given the same width as the walls 109 and 110, without wasting cardboard, as indicated by the lines x and y in mixed line.
  • the legs 144 and 145 therefore extend over the entire height of the side walls 109 and 110 and bear on the base 106.
  • the height H of the legs 144 and 145 is indeed equal to the height H of the walls 109 and 110 and therefore constitute effective reinforcements, increasing the resistance to crushing of the finished box.
  • legs 144 and 145 on the base 106 For the support of the legs 144 and 145 on the base 106 to be effective, their free ends 144 a and 145 has legs 144 and 145 do not necessarily appear in the middle of the length of the slots 158 and 159.
  • the longitudinal axis of the legs 144 and 145 is parallel to the vertical edges of the walls and perpendicular to the plane of the base 106, their free ends 144 a and 145 a resting on the base 106.
  • the folding down of the panel 140 is done not on a straight line but on a curve which is the result of the pivoting of the wall 107 around the pre-folding line 102 and the pivoting of the panel 140 around the pre-folding line 141.
  • the simple action of folding the panel 140 over the packaged objects automatically causes the wall 107 to pivot. and the folding of the triangular legs 121 and 123 since the edges 144 b and 145 b push on the ends 158 b and 159 b because the legs 144 and 145 cannot be lowered without simultaneously forcing any point whatsoever of their edges 144 b and 145 b to remain in contact with the ends 158 b and 159 b .
  • edges before 144 e and 145 e are advantageously curved, to penetrate without gene near the front ends 158 a and 159 a .
  • edges 165 and 166 has the consequence that the triangular legs 120-122 and 125-127 have an exposed part which vertically extends the ledge 165-166 which is very advantageous.
  • the triangular tabs 125 and 127 receive long-lasting adhesive 130 on their entire width, so that if we had this adhesive 130 on the separate elements 113 and 114 as described, removing the protective tape 131 there, would leave adhesive 130 exposed, accessible to all dust and impurities and presenting the danger of retaining objects located near the closed box, without even mentioning the inconvenience for the user to involuntarily put his fingers on this adhesive.
  • this ribbon 131 is cut to the right of the vertical edges 104 and 105 which separate the partition 108 and the triangular legs 125 and 127, this cut being very easily obtained by a simple cutting blade, after fitting this strip 131.
  • the user takes one or the other of the two tabs 196 and 197 and makes the gesture of tearing it off, which has the effect of exerting a strong pull on the link 195 which being too strong to break, follows the tab to which it is securely fixed and cut in a straight line the sheet of cardboard constituting the shutter 142.
  • the adhesive 130 always joins (since it is an irreversible bond) the shutter of fixing 142 and the transverse wall 108 but as the flap 142 is cut by the link opening 195, this amounts to removing the fixing of the flap 142 and the user can easily disunite the box.
  • Figure 6 shows a blank on which we always find the same elements making it possible first to form a stable part of the container: the bottom 106, two transverse walls 107 and 108 and two side walls 109 and 110, as well as the distinct elements 113 and 114 which will not be re-described.
  • the closure panel 140 is integral with two lateral tabs 201 and 202 whose dimensions are substantially the same as those of the side walls 109 and 110, and the fixing flap 142 has substantially the same dimensions as those of the transverse wall 108.
  • This flap 142 is integral with two lateral legs 203 and 204 determined by lines 205 and 206, and also has two 45 ° oblique fold lines, 207 and 208.
  • the lateral tabs 203 and 204 are glued to the upper part 201 a -202 to the tabs 201 and 202, and on the other hand the triangular tabs 125 and 127 to the transverse wall 108.
  • the protective tapes 131 are removed from the two separate elements 113 and 114, then the transverse wall 108 is straightened towards the center according to arrow F2, while straightening them apart by the arrows F4 the two side walls 109 and 110, which automatically brings the triangular legs 124 and 126 against the triangular legs 125 and 127 glued to the wall 108, to which they attach to by means of the unmasked adhesive 130, which is reinforced by squeezing between the fingers the legs 124-126 and wall 108.
  • This wall 107 is straightened and the lateral tabs 201 and 202 are kept apart for lead them outside the side walls 109 and 110, and finally we pass the shutter 142 in front of the wall 108 until the covering cover covers this wall 108 and the side walls 109 and 110 ( Figure 10).
  • the outside face of the flap 142 is pressed to apply its inside face 142 b to the adhesive 130.
  • FIG. 11 shows that here this phenomenon is all the more clear as the folds 205-206 and 20è-208 tend to deform the flap 142 in the direction of its swelling, that is to say that the "nerve” and the elasticity of the folded cardboard urge the flap 142 towards its spacing from the outer face 148 a .
  • two slots (at least) 211 and 212 are provided which pass through the thickness of the flap 142 at the level which corresponds to that of the adhesive 130 deposited on the outer face 148 a .
  • the container is particularly solid and rigid.
  • This closure can be obtained in two different ways, depending on whether one wishes still use adhesive 130 or not.
  • the protective tapes 131 are removed from the shutter 142 and apply this flap to the outer face of the transverse wall 108.
  • the attachment to the transverse wall 108 is therefore done in the same way as if the segments 130-131 were across.
  • the fixing of the flap 142 can be provided with the two only segments of adhesive 130 and protective tape 131 situated in the extension of the two longitudinal segments, but it can also be supplemented by at least one other segment, such as the one visible in Figures 16 and 17, substantially in the axis of the container.
  • the second way is to provide a closing tab 220, of known type, secured to the free edge of the fixing flap 142 and to be inserted into a slot 221 formed in the transverse wall 108.
  • the closure is carried out as described above with reference to the tongue 142 a and the slot 108 a , the latter being equivalent to the slot 221.
  • the tongue 220 is therefore advantageously provided with two opposite teeth 222 and 223 that is folded flat on the tongue 220 before introducing everything into the slot 221, the loosening the bending of teeth 222 and 223, causing them to return to their original position but after having crossed the cardboard through the slot 221, against the face inside of wall 108.
  • the blank comprises two parallel strips 401 and 402 joined together by a pre-folding line 403 of a tab 404 determined in the strip 401 by this line 404, a second pre-folding line 405 and two cutting lines 406 and 407, the latter being oriented at 45 ° relative to the axis of the band 401.
  • This band 401 is, here, longer than the band 402, but in practice, according to the proportions that one wishes to give to the blank in order to make it compatible with a certain maximum length of the objects to be packaged, the bands 401 and 402 can be equal or unequal, whichever is longer.
  • the carton of the 401 tape is longer than what is only necessary to form side flaps, the separate element 400 being constituted, with embodiment, by this extra length, so that we can not only apply long-lasting adhesive 130 and its protective tape 131, but only the more the two ends of the strip 401 can overlap, as will be seen little further.
  • the strip 401 is marked with two pre-folding lines 408 and 409 which determine between they are a central destination for objects.
  • the rule to follow in determining the length of strip 401 is that it should be twice the distance between the two lines 408 and 409, plus a greater or lesser length which is that provided to constitute the separate element 400 ensuring the fixing between them of the two ends strip 401 over the objects to be packaged.
  • the strip 402 is also marked with two pre-folding lines 410 and 411, but offset from lines 408 and 409, which are only useful if the blank is made corrugated cardboard, the grooves of the latter are longitudinal with reference to the strip 402.
  • the two strips 401 and 402 receive adhesive 130 along two lines located in the extension of one another. In fact, they are one and the same line arranged in one go and cut transversely at the same time as you create the cutting lines 412 and 413, on either side of the pre-folding line 403, which determine the two bands 401 and 402.
  • the pre-folding lines 408 and 409 determine between them a base 414 for receiving objects to be packed.
  • the pre-fold lines 408 and 409 determine between them and the transverse edges 415 and 416 two parts 417 and 418.
  • the very simple blank of figure 19 is delivered either in the position of this figure, or after overlapping the bands 401 and 402 by direct folding along line 403, so that this draft constitutes the finished blank, ready for use.
  • the two bands 401 and 402 are then equivalent to a blank ready to constitute a height-adjustable container formed by a band and side flaps.
  • the separate element 400 is constituted by the flaps 417 and 418 together because the important thing is that they attach to each other.
  • the determination of the separate element 400 ultimately depends on the dimensions respectively of flaps 417 and 418 because they must be joined together whatever the length and height of the objects to be packed.
  • the longest flap 417 must not be longer than the width of the strip 402 in order to be able to be applied to an object to be packaged of low height, or even almost zero, but it must be long enough, as well as the flap 418, so that these two flaps can be fixed to each other by the adhesive 130, even if the objects to be are thick (Figure 25).
  • the container is finished when the user firmly applies the end of the strip 402 so that the adhesive 130 is fixed on the other end of the same strip 402 (figures 27 and 28).
