Ce système comprend: un ordinateur (9) muni d'une mémoire de données pour stocker des données sur des produits et des prix, en relation avec l'adresse de l'étiquette d'affichage (3) associée au produit; au moins une unité d'entrée permettant d'introduire des données sur les produits et les prix; plusieurs étiquettes d'affichage (3) à surface d'affichage à commande électronique, une unité d'émission/réception pour transmettre les données et des cellules solaires pour assurer l'alimentation en énergie; une unité de transmission (5) qui transmet les données concernant les produits et les prix, de l'ordinateur (9) central aux unités d'émission/réception des étiquettes d'affichage (3) et qui reçoit des signaux d'accusé réception pour établir un protocole de la transmission des données; et au moins une unité de sortie des prix, notamment une caisse enregistreuse (10) électronique. Afin de paralléliser et de segmenter la communication des données, le système comprend d'autres unités de transmission (5) supplémentaires qui comportent chacune un ordinateur local et une mémoire de données locale.
