  2. A device according to claim 1 characterised in that the retaining device (10) comprises a flat profile member with a substantially horizontal longitudinal axis, which can be screwed adjustably in respect of height to the base plate (2).
  3. A device according to claim 2 characterised in that at least one of the clips (6) of each facade panel has in the transverse leg of its U-shaped profile member a screwthreaded bore in which is received an adjusting screw (11) whose free shank end bears against the upper edge of the lower leg (4a, 4b) of the base plate (2).
  4. A device according to claim 3 characterised in that at its one end the retaining device (10) has two mutually spaced transverse ribs (10b) which project in the direction of the facade panel (a, b, c) and between which the head of the adjusting screw (11) comes to lie, and that the other end (10c) of the retaining device is angled transversely with respect to its longitudinal axis approximately at 45° towards the facade panel.
  5. A device according to one of claims 1 to 4 characterised in that the retaining device (10) is connected to the base plate (2) by way of a screwthreaded bolt (9) which is non-rotatably fixed to the base plate and which engages through a hole (10a) in the retaining device (10) and a nut (12) which is screwed on to the screwthreaded bolt (9).
  6. A device according to claim 5 characterised in that the screwthreaded bolt (9) is arranged in the base plate displaceably but non-rotatably in a slot (8c) with a vertical axis.
  7. A device according to claim 5 or claim 6 characterised in that the hole in the retaining device is a slot with a horizontal axis.
  8. A device according to one of claims 1 to 7 characterised in that the upper suspension leg (3) of the base plate (2) is divided by a central opening into two leg portions.
  9. A device according to one of claims 1 to 8 characterised in that the lower suspension leg of the base plate (2) is divided by a central opening into two leg portions (4a, 4b).
