Definitions
- the subject of the present invention is a device for occipital fixation of a helmet, in particular a helmet cyclist, as well as the helmet fitted with a device.
- the helmet is held in a known manner by side straps but the helmet under the repeated trepidation due to ground movements in particular undergoes displacements by pivoting of front to back but also from back to front, which can be detrimental for safety and the wearer does not necessarily have the ability to correct immediately positioning offering the maximum of security.
- the helmet to be effective must have a very positioning precise with respect to the user's skull, otherwise the lesions can be very serious when the head carries on the ground.
- the lateral straps generally each form a V, one of the branches of this V being disposed upstream of the front / rear tilting point of the helmet and the other being disposed downstream so as to reduce this tilting effect.
- the helmet must remain on the wearer's head without being torn off by the first shock or immediately before the first shock and we realized that in many cases, the helmet tends to be torn off under the effect of the first shock and the wearer is no longer protected during possible subsequent shocks.
- a light helmet described in the Patent application EP-A-302 211 which presents a helmet non-enveloping, substantially hemispherical in shape, like a cap, which includes two straps one of which, fixed on the front, includes a chin strap, and the other is attached to the base of the helmet at a rear point in its middle area and the two free ends are connected on each side to the first strap.
- the subjection to the head is limited because the strap is well fixed on the back helmet but it can fit the shape of the part occipital of the skull and slide on either side of this occipital part.
- Document US-A-3 852 821 describes a device adjustable occipital fixation of a helmet.
- the subject of the present invention is a device occipital fixation that limits movement front / back of the helmet, which is simple, which allows a very quick change of the occipital support pad for better adaptation to the profile of the skull and its size for the same shell, which is comfortable, which is oriented automatically and effortlessly, which is adaptable for the different areas of cycling: track, mountain bike, road, cyclo-cross, cyclo-tourism.
- the invention provides a fixing device defined in claim 1.
- a housing designed to receive the articulated plate, comprising a first piece secured to the helmet, a second part articulated with respect to the first with means for connecting an occipital support pad and the minus one occipital strap secured to the second room.
- the first part is an axis mounted transversely to to the longitudinal axis of the helmet and the second piece is an oblong plate provided at one of its ends a hole with a diameter identical to that of the axis, the other end of the connection means of the support shoe occipital and in the intermediate position of a passage slot strap.
- the axis includes a median groove intended to receive the peripheral edge from the plate hole.
- the means of linking the occipital support pad on the second part include an overmolding of polymer material.
- the peripheral edge of the hole includes a thinned lip circular whose inside diameter is included between the nominal diameter of the axis and the diameter of the axis at the bottom of the groove so that the plate locks in translation in the groove of the axis.
- the occipital support pad includes strap passage slots to provide good lateral positioning of the occipital strap on either side of the second room.
- the skate occipital support is flexible and includes a covering of comfort provided to cooperate with the occipital part of the user's skull.
- the plate includes a short strap, secured to the helmet by one of its ends, the other end carrying a loop designed to receive the occipital strap and a free occipital support pad sliding on said occipital strap, on either side of the loop of the short strap.
- the occipital strap is tied to the side straps and by means of a removable connection to quick coupling and unhooking.
- the helmet is referenced 10, and 12 the shell, generally made of polystyrene.
- This shell is of non-enveloping type of so that the internal shape of this shell sticks at most close to the shape of the wearer's skull and that it can easily be put in and out.
- This shell also comprises, in a known manner, a side strap 14, which pass through the thickness of the hull and whose free ends are equipped with a removable connection means 16 for hooking and unhooking fast.
- a housing in this shell 12, a housing has been provided 18 in which is mounted a plate 20 which comprises a first part 22 integral with this shell and a second moving part 24.
- connecting means 26 an occipital support pad 28 with an occipital strap 30.
- the first part 22 is a cylinder forming a pin 32 mounted on a hole 34 formed in the shell.
- the cylinder 32 shown isolated in FIG. 2, includes a groove 36 in its middle part.
- the second part 24 is an oblong plate 38 with an overmolding of constituent polymer material a layer 40, see FIG. 3.
- a hole 42 is provided in this plate, the diameter of this hole being identical to that of axis 32 to the nearest play.
- Layer 40 extends inside the hole 42 to form a tapered lip 44 at the edge of the hole, the inner diameter of the circular lip being equal to diameter of the axis 32 measured at the bottom of the groove 36.
- the occipital support pad properly said 28 also includes slots 48 of passage of the occipital strap 30.
- This occipital support pad is semi-rigid and includes a comfort covering, not shown, but generally and in particular in the illustrated case, same as the inside of the helmet.
- the shape of the second piece and the skate occipital support is studied to avoid disturbances aerodynamic and to present an anatomical profile.
- overmolding allows an effective connection of the occipital support pad 28 with the second room 24, while leading to a set monolithic.
- the mounting of the device according to the invention is very simple. It is enough to have the second part 24 in the housing 18 and then introduce the axis 32 in the hole 34.
- the shaft enters hole 34 in the shell and then in the hole 42 of the plate 38 forming the second room.
- Lip 44 of very small width slides along the axis. As soon as this lip meets the groove 36 of the axis 32, its stiffness allows it to block in this gorge, which prevents displacement mutuals in translation of the axis and the second part, after mounting.
- the strap 30 passes through the ends of the occipital pad and it is integral with the second part by passage through slot 46, with a possibility sliding adjustment.
- skate occipital support is first moved back by pivoting downstream, which facilitates the introduction of the helmet then during the detachable connection means 16, the rear strap provides traction on the pad occipital which is pressed against the occipital part low under the occiput without any possibility of withdrawal.
- Simultaneous traction on the front strap and the blocking under the chin ensures excellent securing helmet on the skull by prohibiting not only all removal but also by limiting very noticeably the rocking movements of this helmet.
- the dimensions of the occipital support pad can vary, or simply the positions of the slots 46 and 48 for guiding the strap as well as the connection with the side straps 14 which allows a precise adjustment of traction directions.
- an occipital pad guides the rear strap, which prevents to this strap to spread to the point of sliding along side walls of the skull, as dangerous way the art embodiments prior.
- FIG. 4 a variant has been represented. who can find a more specific application for road cycling.
- the occipital support pad 280 includes an additional shock absorbing material 281.
- the helmet equipped with the device according to the invention has lateral stability interesting for the wearer.
- the occipital support pad can also be semi-rigid or rigid depending on the applications.
- the operation overmolding of the second part can be removed in favor of manufacturing in a single operation of this second piece and of the skate.
- FIG. 5 also shows a another simplified variant with all the qualities but whose layout is less sophisticated doesn't necessarily provide the same comfort, especially in the speed of the settings for example.
- the first and second parts 220, 240 of the plate 20 are simplified in that the rear strap 30 is equipped a sliding shoe 380 and that it is itself mounted sliding in the loop 210 of a short strap 240 secured to the lower rear edge of the helmet, this short strap forming the second piece.
- the first part 220 can be deleted because in this case the short strap 240 is likely to be fixed to the helmet shell and its flexibility allows same possibilities as a part articulation rigid.
