Definitions

  • the handling of cigarettes after their manufacture and before packaging causes special problems when packaging cigarettes.
  • the cigarette manufacturing machines (maker) produce cigarettes with high performance, e.g. sixteen thousand cigarettes a minute.
  • the relatively large number of cigarettes must be fed to the packaging machine in a reasonable manner.
  • Production-related fluctuations in performance of the cigarette manufacturing machine and the subsequent packaging machine must be taken into account. It is therefore customary to place storage devices for cigarettes in the area between these two units. Depending on the fluctuations in performance, cigarettes are fed into or released from this store.
  • So-called trays are known for the storage and transportation of cigarettes, which can be filled from their top or bottom.
  • the top of the trays is first closed by a sword, the trays are tilted by about 180 ° via an emptying station and then the tray is emptied into the emptying station. Due to this complicated handling of the trays, the size of a storage unit, to which several containers are combined, is limited.
  • FR-A-2 414 459 shows a device for storing and transporting cigarettes with a storage unit in which containers for holding the cigarettes can be filled or emptied through an opening in a substantially horizontal bottom wall.
  • the handling of such a device, in particular the emptying of the cuboid containers, is cumbersome and reduces performance.
  • the invention is based on the object of proposing a device for transporting and storing cigarettes which enables easier handling in the distribution of the stored cigarettes by using containers for holding a cigarette store.
  • the device according to the invention is characterized in that the bottom wall is pivotally mounted in the region of the opening and can be pivoted from an essentially horizontal normal position into an inclined position falling towards the opening with at least one leg falling towards the opening.
  • the pivotable arrangement of the bottom wall according to the invention in the region of the opening in particular facilitates the emptying of the containers. Due to the pivotable bottom wall, the container itself becomes a funnel, so that the cigarettes can be fed to the opening.
  • the bottom wall is initially in an inclined position that slopes towards the opening.
  • the bottom wall is pivoted from the sloping position towards the opening into the normal position. In this position results in a cuboid container. Dead spaces that cannot be used to store cigarettes are avoided.
  • the opening is preferably arranged in a central region of the bottom wall.
  • the bottom wall is divided into two pivotable legs which extend on both sides of the opening. In this way, even with a low height of the container in comparison to its longitudinal extent, a sufficient angle of inclination of the bottom wall can be realized in the sloping position that slopes toward the opening.
  • the two legs of the bottom wall can be pivoted in a particularly simple manner by means of an actuating member, in particular a pressure medium cylinder.
  • the side walls are pivotably attached to the bottom wall and, together with the latter, can be pivoted into the sloping position falling towards the opening.
  • the pivoting movement of the bottom wall and the side walls is controlled by sensors that detect the degree of filling of the container.
  • Another special feature of the invention relates to a cigarette conveyor for transporting the cigarettes from a manufacturing machine to the filling station and from the filling station to a packaging machine.
  • two separate delivery channels are used for this.
  • One conveying channel is only used to feed the cigarettes to the filling station, while a second conveying channel is only used to convey the cigarettes away from the filling station. This ensures a better, trouble-free transport of the cigarettes in the upward or downward direction without the risk of damage to the cigarettes.
  • the exemplary embodiments shown in the drawings deal with the handling of cigarettes or other elongated, rod-shaped objects. It is about storing a large number of cigarettes and transporting them in the area between a cigarette manufacturing machine and a packaging machine (neither of which is shown).
  • a storage device 10 is shown, which is connected to a cigarette conveyor 11.
  • the cigarette conveyor 11 has a first section 12 which is connected to a cigarette manufacturing machine. Furthermore, the cigarette conveyor has a secondary storage 13 and a second section 14, which is connected to a packaging machine.

  • the cigarette conveyor 16 has a filling station 18.
  • the endless belts 17 are directed vertically.
  • a sensor 19 is arranged in the area of the filling station 18. This sensor 19 detects whether there are 17 cigarettes in the area of the filling station.

  • the storage unit 20 can be moved on wheels 22. In the area between the wheels 22, a rack 23 is arranged, which interacts with a drive system 24.
  • the storage unit 20 can hereby be moved in such a way that each of the containers 21 can be moved into the filling station 18 of the cigarette conveyor 16.
  • An opening 25 is assigned to each container 21.
  • Each opening 25 can be closed by a slide 26 which is held in the closed position by a spring 46.
  • An actuating member 27 is arranged in the area of the filling station 18, e.g. a pressure medium cylinder or an electromagnet. The slide member 26 of a container 21, which is located in the area of the filling station 18, is opened by the actuating member 27.
  • Each container 21 has a large front wall 47, a large rear wall 48, a bottom wall 28 and two narrow side walls 31, 32. These walls delimit an interior space 49 open at the top for receiving the cigarettes.
  • the width of the bottom wall 28 and the side walls 31, 32 corresponds approximately to the length of the cigarettes.
  • the bottom wall 28 of the container 21 is pivotable.
  • the bottom wall 28 consists of two legs 29, 30 which are pivotally mounted in the region of the opening 25.
  • the side walls 31, 32 are pivotally attached to the legs 29, 30 of the bottom wall 28. At their upper end, the side walls 31, 32 are each between two guide rails 33 slidably and pivotably mounted. The side walls 31, 32 are thus pivoted together with the bottom wall 28 from the normal position into the V-shaped position. Actuators for pivoting the bottom wall 28 and the side walls 31, 32 are arranged below the container 21. In the present case, pressure medium cylinders 34 serve as actuators. The bottom wall 28 and the side walls 31, 32 can thereby be pivoted from the normal position (solid line) into a V-shaped position (shown in dashed lines). This makes emptying the container 21 easier.

  • the remaining sensors 36, 37 serve to detect the degree of filling of the container 21.
  • the sensor 36 emits a signal when the container is partially filled to a predetermined degree and the sensor 37 emits a signal when the container 21 is completely filled.
  • Additional sensors 38, 39 are assigned to one of the pressure medium cylinders 34.
  • the lower sensor 38 is also triggered when the bottom wall 28 and the side walls 31, 32 are in the normal position. This thus confirms the signal from the sensor 35.
  • the upper sensor 39 is triggered when the bottom wall together with the side walls 31, 32 is in the V-shaped position.
  • the device described in this way works as follows: If the production machine produces more cigarettes than can be removed from the packaging machine, some of the cigarettes are conveyed away by the cigarette conveyor 16 and fed to the filling station 18. An empty or not yet completely filled container 21 is moved into the filling station 18 and the slide 26 is opened. The position of the bottom wall 28 and the side walls 31, 32 is controlled by the sensor 36. If a predetermined degree of filling of the container 21 is reached, so that the sensor 36 is triggered, the pressure medium cylinders 34 are retracted and the base wall 28 and the side walls 31, 32 are thereby pivoted into the normal position. Abstract
