Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a safety relay according to the preamble of claim 1, as known from EP-A-0 168 058.
  • a forced operation of this contact set means in a manner known per se that the actuator detects all switching springs and either brings them into one position or the other.
  • Such a safety relay has proven itself on a large scale, but it is desirable that the drive is assigned a smaller power consumption and that the known relay is miniaturized overall.
  • the invention is therefore based on the object of developing a safety relay of the type mentioned at the outset so that the entire relay is miniaturized with lower power consumption.
  • the invention is characterized by the technical teaching of claim 1.
  • An essential feature of the invention is that the drive system known per se with a hinged armature is replaced according to the invention by a drive system with an asymmetrically acting H-armature, and that this H-armature with its longitudinal axis is approximately parallel to the longitudinal axis of the drive coil is arranged and that the axis of rotation of this H-armature is arranged perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the drive coil, and that furthermore the H-armature is magnetically asymmetrical.
  • An H-armature allows a large stroke, which - if the H-armature is magnetically symmetrical - acts symmetrically.
  • a monostable behavior of the relay can be achieved with a magnetically asymmetrical H-armature.
  • a non-polarized relay with a hinged armature does not have this characteristic, because with a hinged armature the initial force is reduced with increasing stroke, i.e. the initial force depends on the stroke, whereas this is not the case with an H anchor.
  • the initial force is the force that is required to bring the contacts of the contact set out of their rest position.
  • the entire components of this relay are first of all built smaller, which, however, with the
  • the disadvantage is that the contact distances between the individual springs also become relatively small, as a result of which the prescribed minimum distances between the contact springs are undershot.
  • Symmetrical H-anchors offer the possibility of achieving long travel distances, but at the same time they cause the drive to behave in a bistable manner. In order to achieve a monostable behavior, the magnetic effect of the H-armature is therefore shifted towards mechanical symmetry. The final forces of the drive become asymmetrical, which results in monostable behavior.
  • Definition of a monostable behavior is that after the drive excitation is omitted, the contact set moves automatically from its working position to its rest position.
  • the essence of the invention is therefore that, with a smaller volume of a safety relay of the type mentioned at the outset, the same contact distances are achieved as are present with a much larger safety relay.
  • the necessary increase in stroke is made possible by using an H-anchor.
  • the relay has a hood 1, which engages over a contact set carrier 2, which accommodates a number of components of the relay as a plastic part made of one piece of material.
  • the complete drive of the relay is latched as a latching part, the drive coil 3 with the yoke legs 4, 5 and the H armature 6 as assembled part can be snapped into the contact set carrier.
  • the yoke legs 4, 5 engage with lateral projections in assigned recesses 13 on the contact set carrier 2 and are locked there.
  • the H-armature has in its axis of rotation 11 a bearing journal, not shown, which also engages in an associated recess in the contact set carrier.
  • part of the contact set carrier 2 is an approximately U-shaped free bearing piece 10, which defines a central recess through which the bearing pin of the H-armature passes and is rotatably supported there.
  • the two yoke legs 4, 5 are bent approximately in a U-shape and lie against one another in the region of the inner coil tube 30, the two end sides of each yoke leg 4, 5 protruding on opposite sides of the drive coil 3.

  • This material can e.g. B. be a plastic material or the like.
  • the H-anchor assumes a monostable position, because it pivots in the direction of arrow 31 in the counterclockwise direction about its axis of rotation 11 and engages with the parts of anchor plates 7, 8 opposite the recesses 40, 41 the associated yoke legs 4.5.
  • the resulting curve 36 then intersects the abscissa at position 37, the distance between position 37 and position 33 corresponding to half the difference 44.
  • this curve 36 intersects the straight line 34.
  • the stroke of the H-armature (ie the swivel angle) is now mechanically limited. This limits the high final force at item 45; the curve is broken off at the intersection 38 with the straight line 34 and the drive system has only the residual force 39.
  • This residual force 38 causes that when the H-armature 6 is in the Direction of arrow 31 opposite pivot position that this residual magnetic force 39 acts and this must be overcome by the contact set to reach the rest position.
  • the electromagnetic action of the coil 3 is superimposed on this force-stroke curve of the curve 36.
  • the curve 46 in FIG. 4 shows the resulting force-stroke curve, which acts on the contact set.
  • a final force is also achieved at item 47, which acts on the contact set.
  • the force-stroke curve of the contact set must run in the area between position 37 and curve 46 in order to achieve a monostable behavior of the relay. If the force-stroke curve of the contact set is outside, i.e. within the triangle delimited by pos. 37,38,48, then the behavior of the relay becomes bistable.
  • a plurality of contacts are each arranged in individual chambers that are chambered from one another, the individual chambers being chambered by chamber walls 14 (in the direction of the drive) and by further chamber walls 21, 22, 23.
  • the external limitation is made by the Front wall 24, on the outside of which a restoring spring 17 rests, the spring force of which can be changed with an adjusting screw 18 and which rests on the outside of the actuator 20 with its free, pivotable end.
  • Part of the contact set carrier 2 is a plastic body 15, which covers the yoke legs in the direction of the base plate 25.
  • the contacts 16 are guided in the form of connecting pins 19 through the base plate 25, the base plate 25 being integrally connected to the contact set carrier 2. It is important here that a large creepage distance between the individual adjacent pins 19 according to FIG. 2 is achieved. It is known per se to store the connecting pins in slots, these slots being formed going inwards from the outside of the base plate. This enables simple mounting of the connecting pins 19 in these slots.
  • Coil connections 29 are also arranged on the front side of the contact set carrier 2.
  • a safety relay with a positively driven contact set is thus ensured, in which it is now possible for the first time to still ensure high contact distances with relatively small overall dimensions of the relay, because with the use of the asymmetrically acting H armature, a large stroke of the actuator 20 is achieved and thus large contact distances are made possible.
  • the asymmetrical effect of the H-armature has the advantage that the contacts of the contact set are held in a defined position in the rest position, without the armature reacting on the contact set.
  • Another advantage of the invention is that the use of an asymmetrically acting H-armature 6 does not lead to undesired entrainment of welded contacts, even if the current through the coil 3 of the drive system is increased significantly. This is because even with a substantial increase in the current flow through the coil, the H-armature is only pivoted due to the difference in magnetic fluxes between the opposing armature plates 4, 5. This means that even when high currents are introduced into the coil of the drive system, the drive force on the contacts of the contact set remains limited to a certain value and there is therefore no risk that normally open contacts can also be closed in a welded opener because the drive force is not is sufficient to deform or bend the contact set in such a way that this impermissible state is reached. This is a major advantage of the asymmetrically acting H-anchor, which in conjunction with the described safety concept (positively driven contact set) leads to the success according to the invention.
  • the H-armature 6 has an overhead actuator plate 49, which is connected to the upper anchor plate 7 and against which the actuator 20 rests.
