Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a method and a device for forming a shingled stream of folded printed copies according to the preamble of claim 1 and the preamble of claim 7.
  • Folded printed copies are usually transferred from a folding jaw cylinder to a paddle wheel before they are laid out and transported to a stream of shingles after further transfer steps. After opening the jaws of the jaw cylinder, the printed copies are held on the jaw cylinder by a ribbon cable before being transferred to the paddle wheel. The printed copies then fall into the blades of the paddle wheel in free fall.
  • the transfer of the printed copies to a paddle wheel is the insufficient guidance of the printed copies until they are received in the blades to complain about the paddle wheel.
  • the printed copies are only included in the course of the handover The momentum and only because of its inertia, it moves freely from the jaw cylinder into the blades. Furthermore, at least one further transfer to a downstream transporter is necessary for laying out in the shingled stream.
  • An arrangement without a paddle wheel for accepting printed copies from a folding jaw cylinder and for displaying these printed copies in the form of a stream of shingles is known from EP 0 429 884 A1.
  • the printed copies are removed from the jaw cylinder by a stripper.
  • a first transport unit is arranged behind the folding jaw cylinder, through which the removed printed copies are transported further at the conveying speed of the upstream printing press. In this first transport unit, the printed copies follow one another at a distance which corresponds to their distance on the folding jaw cylinder.
  • the printed copies are transferred from the first transport unit to a second transport unit which is driven at a lower speed, so that the printed copies are transported away from one another in the form of a shingled stream overlapping one another.
  • the printed copies are each transported between two stacked, parallel spaced conveyor belts.
  • the transfer of the printed copies from the first transport unit to the second transport unit is problematic.
  • the printed copies were not kept in a defined manner during the handover.
  • it is precisely in this phase that they have to be braked from the high speed of the jaw cylinder to the lower speed of the shingled stream to be removed.
  • the braking can only take place after the handover, ie after the just handed over print copy on the previous print copy lies, take place.
  • two horizontal conveyors to be driven at the same speed are required in each transport unit for guiding the printed copies, which in itself requires a high synchronization effort.
  • a device for taking over and transporting folded printed products in which the printed products are taken over by grippers from the folding cylinder.
  • the grippers are formed by cantilever arms that protrude from a rotating chain.
  • One of the chain wheels for the circulating chain is arranged opposite the folding cylinder.
  • the closing movement for gripping and holding the printed copies is accomplished by means of a spring mechanism integrated in each of the delivery arms, which is controlled for this purpose via a link guide.
  • sheets printed on one side are also taken from a printing cylinder with grippers arranged movably on a rotating chain and transferred to a first further conveyor device for further transport in a clamped connection with the chain.
  • This publication does not say anything about the articulation of the grippers on the gripper chain.
  • folded printed copies are to be managed in a defined manner from the takeover of a folding jaw cylinder to the laying out in the form of a shingled stream.
  • the design effort and space required for this should be as low as possible.
  • the method according to the invention in which the printed copies are transferred directly from a folding jaw cylinder to the grippers and are transported away in a clamped manner by the grippers, makes it possible to dispense with the use of a paddle wheel.
  • the advantage over the arrangement without paddlewheels according to E 0 429 884 A1 lies in the use of grippers, of which the printed copies are removed directly from the folding jaw cylinder and are kept constantly jammed during further transport. This individual takeover by the gripper directly from the folding jaw cylinder enables an immediate reduction in the transport speed of the printed copies, since the printed copies no longer consume one another in a space-consuming manner a horizontal conveyor must be transported, with the result that such a horizontal conveyor should have substantially the same speed as the jaw cylinder.
  • the printed copies are braked by 20 to 40%, in particular by approximately 30 to 35%, already when they are taken over from the folding jaw cylinder.
  • the printed copies are transported by the grippers until they are laid out in the shingled stream, for which purpose the printed copies preferably still held by the grippers at their leading ends, but at least still guided, only slide out of the leading grippers by a braking force acting on their trailing ends and need to be designed for the shingled stream that is conveyed in the same direction.
  • the printed copies are guided in the course of the release by the grippers for defined alignment in the shingle stream against stops which are driven at approximately the same speed as the conveyor for the shingle stream to be removed.
  • the printed copies are removed from the folding jaw cylinder by a traction means, for example, a chain or a belt, particularly preferably a toothed belt.
  • the printed copies do not lie on the traction means and do not have to be transported between two conveyor belts to be synchronized.
  • the traction means is provided with grippers, by means of which the printed copies are picked up by the folding jaw cylinder in the course of the takeover and are held in a clamped manner during the subsequent transport. This guarantees an individual and at the same time continuous takeover of print copies.
  • grippers with a special mechanism for opening and closing gripper jaws could be used, for example gripper jaws held together by means of a return spring or controlled by means of a guide via a link
  • the grippers connected to the traction means are arranged according to the invention in such a way that between the individual grippers and the Traction means each have a slit-shaped receptacle for the printed copies.
  • the printed copies are pressed against the traction means by the preferably claw-like grippers.
  • This interaction of traction means and grippers according to the invention represents a particularly simple constructive solution.
  • the grippers are preferably rigidly attached to the traction means.
  • the grippers in one piece and to generate the clamping force exerted on the printed copies solely by the elastic restoring forces which are established between the traction means and the grippers. It is particularly advantageous to make the traction means elastic, in particular in the form of a toothed belt, and to use a hard material, preferably a metallic material, for the grippers. Suitable as a traction agent in particular a belt with fiberglass tension insert or a belt with steel cord tension members and abrasion-resistant polyurethane coating.
  • the traction means is guided in the course of taking over the printed copies relative to the folding jaw cylinder on a convexly curved arc, the radius of curvature of which increases after the printed copy has been taken up.
  • the trailing ends of the grippers for picking up the printed copies are spread apart from the traction means and, due to the subsequently increasing radius of curvature after the picking up of a printed copy, are placed back on the traction means and thus on the printed copy, so that the printed copy is securely clamped.
  • the radius of curvature is constant in the course of the transfer of the printed copies and increases suddenly at the end of the deflection when transitioning to a straight conveying path.
  • the deflection disk can be formed by a roller or a plurality of deflection disks rigidly connected to one another on a shaft, the position of the axis of rotation for the deflection disk being freely selectable in the circumferential direction with respect to the axis of rotation of the folding jaw cylinder.
  • several toothed belts running in parallel are used in the latter case.
  • the individual belts are particularly conveniently connected to one another by rigid crossbars.
  • Several grippers sit side by side on the crosspieces, whereby comb-like gripper bars are formed. It has also proven to be advantageous to bring the gripper bar itself into direct engagement with the toothed disks via a specially designed tooth in order to additionally guide and stabilize the grippers in the area of taking over the printed copies.
  • the course of the radius of curvature of the curve guidance can be changed for the traction means in adaptation to different thicknesses of the printed copies to be accepted.
  • thinner printed copies can also be gripped safely.
  • a guide means or a guide tongue is arranged below the traction means for guiding the trailing ends of the printed copies hanging downward from the traction means or the grippers, which extends into the area of the acceptance of the printed copies, following the curved guidance of the traction means.
  • the printed copies still held by the grippers are braked and laid out on a further conveyor arranged in the form of a shingled stream below the traction means for the grippers.
  • the traction means is again deflected away in an arc from the conveyor for the printed copies designed, so that the trailing ends of the grippers spread away from the traction means according to the invention when entering the curve.
  • the printed copies are decelerated by a copy brake acting on their trailing ends, as a result of which the leading end of the decelerated printed copy is pulled out of the continuously moving grippers and is laid out on the scale stream. Due to the design according to the invention, in which the leading ends of the printed copies are still picked up by the grippers, while braking force is already being exerted on the trailing ends, any compression of printed copies can be prevented.
  • a printed copy 2 is transferred from a folding jaw cylinder 1, which rotates counterclockwise, to a traction means 6 equipped with grippers 5 and is laid out on a delivery belt 13 in the form of a shingled stream 30.
  • a commercially available toothed belt made of an elastic material with a suitable tension insert serves as traction means 6, for example a belt with glass fiber or similar tension inserts, which endlessly rotates clockwise around a first toothed pulley 7 opposite the jaw cylinder 7 and a second toothed pulley 8.
  • the jaw cylinder 1 and the one opposite it Toothed pulley 7 therefore rotate in opposite directions, so that they have essentially the same direction of speed in the course of the transfer / acceptance of a printed copy 2 from the jaw cylinder 1 to a gripper 5.
  • the printed copy 2 clamped between the flaps 3 at its leading end is pressed against the surface of the flap cylinder 1 by a ribbon line 4 and is thereby guided securely.
  • the grippers 5 guided over the first toothed disk 7 engage in corresponding recesses on the surface of the folding jaw cylinder 1 in the course of the transfer or acceptance of the printed copies 2, which recesses are designed as circumferential grooves in the exemplary embodiment.
  • the transport speed of the toothed belt 6 is about 30 to 35% lower than the circumferential speed of the jaw cylinder 1. Therefore, the grippers 5 are overhauled in the course of the takeover of the printed copies 2 still resting on the jaw cylinder 1 and reach behind the leading end of a straight during the takeover handing over the printed copy.
  • the convexity of the deflection of the toothed belt 6 relative to the jaw cylinder 1 results in a harmonious cyclic course for the transfer or acceptance of the printed copies 2.
  • the first toothed disc 7 is arranged relative to the jaw cylinder 1 so that its axis of rotation is offset from the axis of rotation of the jaw cylinder 1 lies.
  • the angle ⁇ is chosen so that it is on the one hand ensures a sufficiently long engagement time of the grippers 5 in the recesses on the folding jaw cylinder 1, but on the other hand generates the least possible deflection of the printed copies 2.
  • the foremost deflection roller of the ribbon cable 4 is also located on this connecting line. Shortly before or during the passage of this line, the folding flaps 3 are also opened.
  • the leading end of the printed copy 2 lying in the gripper base is continuously and increasingly pressed against the toothed belt 6 by the trailing end of the gripper 5 and thereby between the Toothed belt 6 and the trailing end of the gripper 5 is clamped.
  • the gripper 5 forms with the toothed belt 6 an open, gap-shaped receptacle 53 for the printed copies 2 at the trailing end of the gripper 5.
  • the gripper 5 In its leading region, the gripper 5 is rigidly attached to the toothed belt 6.
  • the trailing area of the gripper 5 has a profile shape which is concavely curved against the toothed belt 6, so that the gripper 5 clamps like a claw against the belt 6.
  • the curved profile shape also benefits the guidance of the printed copies 2 when they are taken over by the grippers 5.
  • a gripper 5 can also be used, the trailing area of which, for example, runs in a straight line, parallel to the toothed belt 6 and has a bead-like thickening for clamping printed copies.
  • the grippers 5 are made in one piece from a harder material than the toothed belt, in particular a metallic material. The ones necessary to clamp a printed copy Force is therefore primarily caused by the elastic restoring force of the toothed belt 6.
  • this elastic clamping force is essentially determined by the distance a from the leading edge of the gripper 5 to its axis of rotation.
  • the gripper 5 of FIG. 3 has an elongated leading edge with a correspondingly greater distance or lever a to its axis of rotation.
  • a greater clamping force can be exerted by the gripper 5 according to FIG. 3 than by the gripper 5 according to FIG. 2.
  • the torque acting through the product of the weight of the printed copy 2 with the lever b about the axis of rotation is compensated for by the elastic restoring force of the toothed belt 6 via the lever a.
  • the restoring moment of the arrangement of toothed belt 6 and gripper 5 and thus the clamping force for clamping the printed copy 2 can thus be set, in particular also with less elastic expansion or deflection of the toothed belt 6.
  • the distance between the trailing end of the gripper 5 and the toothed belt 6 increases continuously until the time at which the toothed belt 6 is deflected further the trailing end of this gripper 5 has passed the deflection point of the toothed belt 6. Thereafter, the distance between the trailing end of the gripper 5 and the toothed belt 6 remains constant until the toothed belt 6 is moved again out of the deflection area of this toothed pulley 7 into the straight lower conveying path.
  • the driven toothed disk 7 is so close to the jaw cylinder 1 arranged that the gripper 5 engages with its trailing free end in the course of taking over a printed copy 2 in a correspondingly formed recess on the jaw cylinder 1.
  • the gripper 5 engages with the trailing end of the leading end of this printed copy. Due to the counter-rotation of the driven toothed pulley 7 and the jaw cylinder 1, the printed copy 2 and the gripper 5 move approximately in the same direction during the transfer or takeover, the printed copy 2 at a speed 30 to 35% higher than the gripper 5 is promoted. The printed copy 2 is therefore pushed into the bottom of the gripper with this excess speed.
  • the gripper 5 is moved from the deflection area into the straight conveying path already during this pushing or only from the point in time at which the leading end of the respective printed copy 2 comes to rest in the base of the gripper 5. During this transition, the distance between the toothed belt 6 and the trailing end of the gripper 5 is automatically reduced again and the printed copy 2 taken over is clamped between the toothed belt 6 and the gripper 5. From the running out of the axis of rotation of the gripper 5 to the running out of the trailing end of the same gripper there is a continuous closing and clamping process.
  • the position of the second toothed disk 8 relative to the first toothed disk 7 is adjustable.
  • the second toothed disk 8 can be pivoted together with the entire arrangement required for laying out the printed copies 2 about the axis of rotation of the first toothed disk 7.
  • a pivoting by an adjustment angle ⁇ is shown schematically.
  • This adjustment causes the gripper 5 to run out of the deflection area of the first toothed disk 7 after the takeover of a printed copy 2 relative to the horizontal arrangement of the two toothed disks 7 and 8, offset from the deflection area of the first toothed disk 7 and thereby prematurely jamming the printed copy 2.
  • This adjustment of the second toothed disk 8 relative to the first toothed disk 7 allows the grippers 6 to be clamped steplessly to any common print specimen thickness.
  • the adjustment takes place downward in relation to the horizontal position for large printed copy thicknesses. An adjustment for thick and thin printed copies 2 around a horizontal central position up and down would in principle also be possible.
  • a guide tongue 9 is arranged, which extends on the one hand into the course of the transfer of the printed copies 2 and engages with its front end in recesses on the jaw cylinder 1, and below the straight discharge path of the toothed belt 6 into the area of the boom belt 13 arranged below the toothed belt 6 protrudes.
  • the guide tongue 9 is arranged at a distance from the toothed belt 6 such that a reliable guidance of the free, trailing ends of the printed copies 2 is guaranteed at all times.
  • the printed copies 2 are passed between a brake disc 11 and a cam 10 acting against the brake disc 11 and clamped briefly at their trailing end between the cam 10 and the brake disc 11 and thereby braked.
  • Transport by the gripper 5 and braking by this copy brake are synchronized so that the gripper 5 is already in the region of curvature of the second toothed disc 8 and therefore no longer exerts a clamping force on the printed copy 2, but this printed copy still leads securely at its leading end when the cam 10 reaches the trailing end of the same printed copy 2 presses against the lower brake disc 11.
