Definitions
- the invention relates to a device for producing packs, in particular cuboid cigarette packs, which can be transported in receptacles or pockets of endless conveyors, in particular rotating revolvers, and can be run over from one revolver to an adjacent one, the pockets for the packs have movable pocket walls for holding the packs.
- a problem here is the handling of the fully or partially finished packs in the area of endless conveyors, in particular in the area of (folding or drying) turrets, if they rotate continuously.
- a turret belonging to the standard equipment of a packaging machine is provided with receptacles or pockets for the packs along the circumference. The smooth transfer of the packs from one revolver to the next is difficult because the packs have to be released by one revolver and taken over by the other.
- the invention has for its object to propose measures for the handling of in particular cigarette packs in the area of a packaging machine, so that the most important areas can be driven continuously, in particular the transfer of packs from a revolver or the like to an adjacent one.
- the device according to the invention is characterized in that the pockets of adjacent, axially parallel revolvers engage in the area of a transfer path for the packs and the pocket walls are moved between the open and closed positions so that the packs are released from the pockets of one revolver and of which are picked up by the other revolver.
- the neighboring revolvers are arranged at such a distance from one another that the pockets with the packs meet exactly in the area of the transfer line and briefly run along a common path of movement. This makes it possible to transfer the packs from the pocket of one revolver to the associated pocket of another revolver without any radial relative movement.
- the pockets or their pocket walls are designed so that they can be moved past one another.
- control of the movable, in particular pivotable pocket walls is required so that the packs are released from one pocket and received by the other pocket.
- the pocket walls are designed according to a proposal of the invention with corresponding recesses, in particular comb-like, so that the pockets can be moved past one another without interference.
- the revolver taking over the packs serves to stabilize the rectangular or cuboid shape of the packs and to harden glue spots.
- the packs are held in shaping receptacles, in particular in packing shafts, during several revolutions of the revolver designed as a dry revolver.
- a packaging line for this type of package 20 consists of several packaging areas. 1 schematically shows a continuously revolving folding turret 21. This serves to complete the pack 10. The packs are delivered from the folding turret 21 to an intermediate turret or transfer turret 22. This feeds the packs 20 to a further revolver, namely a drying revolver 23. This is set up to receive the finished packs 20 over a longer period of time so that glue spots on the packs 20 can set and the exact format of the packs 20 is stabilized in the process.
- the packs emerging from the drying turret 23 are transferred to a removal conveyor 24.
- the packs are transferred in a special way from one continuously revolving revolver (transfer revolver 22) to the next revolver (continuously revolving) (dry revolver 23).
- Both turrets are equipped with specially designed pockets 25, 26 for temporarily holding the packs 20.
- Several pockets 25, 26 are arranged at equal, mutually coordinated intervals on the circumference of the transfer turret 22 and the drying turret 23. The spacing of these axially parallel turrets from one another is selected such that the movement paths of the pockets 25 and 26 touch or merge into one another in a transfer region 27 such that the pockets of the neighboring turrets temporarily overlap with their cross section.
- the packs 20 are transferred from the respective pocket 25 of the transfer turret 22 to an assigned pocket 26 of the drying turret 23.
- the pockets 25 and 26 have a fixed pocket bottom 28 and 29, respectively.
- the pack is temporarily attached to this.
- each pocket 25, 26 is provided with two side pocket walls 30, 31 and 32, 33, respectively.
- the respective opposing pocket walls 30..33 are movable, namely pivotable. These are designed as two-armed levers and are each rotatably supported in pivot bearings 34, 35.
- a shaft journal 37 attached laterally to an extension 36 of the pocket wall 30, 33 is rotatable.
- the shaft journal 37 and thus the pocket wall 30..33 are actuated via a lever 38, on the free end of which a sensing roller 39, 40 is arranged.
- the two sensing rollers run on assigned tracks 41, 42 of a cam 43.
- the tracks 41, 42 and correspondingly the feeler rollers 39, 40 of the two pocket walls 32, 33 are arranged offset to one another.
- the pockets 25 of the transfer turret 22 are designed in an analogous manner to that described above. This also applies to the storage and actuation of the pocket walls 30, 31.
- the actuating members described are located inside or outside of depressions 44 in the transfer turret 22 or in the dry turret 23.
- pockets 25, 26 Another special feature of the pockets 25, 26 is that, due to their design, they engage in one partial area, namely in the transfer area 27.
- the relative positions are selected such that the free cross-section of pockets 25, 26 assigned to one another is briefly congruent in the transfer area 27.
- a package 20 fed from the pocket 25 thus reaches the pocket 26 of the drying turret 23 without any transverse or radial movement.
- the pocket walls 30, 31 on the one hand and 32, 33 on the other hand have corresponding projections and recesses.
- the pocket walls 30..33 are comb-like.
- Each pocket wall 30..33 consists of tooth-shaped projections or elevations 45 or 46 and recesses 47, 48 located between them.
- the recesses 48 of the pocket walls 32, 33 of the pockets 25 are arranged and dimensioned such that the projections 45 of the pocket walls in the transfer region 27 30, 31 enter these recesses 48 with little play and are moved through them.
- the recesses 47 and the projections 46 passing through them are arranged and dimensioned.
- the actual pocket walls 30..33 are formed by the projections 45 on the one hand and 46 on the other hand.
- the recesses and projections of the pocket walls 30, 31 on the one hand and the pocket walls 32, 33 on the other hand are arranged offset to one another.
- At least some projections 45, 46 are dimensioned with respect to their length or height such that they protrude on the radially outer side beyond the package 20 located in the pocket 25, 26.
- the packs 20 are held in the pockets 25, 26 with an externally arranged, transverse projection, namely a nose 49.
- FIGS. 4 to 8 The process of transferring a package 20 by the transfer turret 22 and the transfer thereof by the drying turret 23 is shown in several phases in FIGS. 4 to 8.
- Fig. 3 shows a side view of a position of the pockets 25 and 26 in the central position, corresponding to Fig. 6 of the movement phase.
- the incoming pocket 25 of the transfer turret 22 is initially closed (FIG. 4).
- the pack 20 is gripped by the pocket walls 30 and 31 in the region of narrow, elongated side surfaces 50.
- the pocket 26 of the drying turret 23 assigned to this pocket 25 is in an open position, that is to say with the pocket walls 32, 33 spread. Due to the kinematics due to the movement along a circular path, the closed pocket 25 together with the package can move into the area between the pocket walls 32, 33 enter.
- the pocket 26 of the drying turret 23 is increasingly closed (FIG. 6).
- a free pocket interior of the two pockets 25, 26 is congruent.
- a common pocket interior is enclosed by the pocket walls 30..33 of both pockets 25, 26 (FIG. 6).
- the pocket walls 30..33 interlock in the manner described due to the comb-shaped design.
- the pocket 25 of the transfer turret 22 is increasingly opened (FIG. 7).
- the pack 20 is now held by the pocket walls 32, 33 of the pocket 25. This pocket now emerges more and more from the area of the (open) pocket 25 until a complete separation is given due to the circular movement path.
- the package 20 is now in the pocket 26. This transfer process takes place continuously without transverse movement of the packages 20.
- the two pocket bottoms 28 and 29 are adapted to the movement sequence described.
- the pocket bottom 28 of the transfer turret 22 is roof-shaped with two contact surfaces 51, 52 arranged at an obtuse angle to one another for the pack 20 in the various movement phases.
- the oblique contact surface 52 of the pocket bottom 28 comes into effect in the present exemplary embodiment.
- the other inclined contact surface 51 acts analogously when the pack 20 is transferred from the folding turret 21 to the transfer turret 22.
- the pocket bottom 29 of the pockets 26 of the drying turret 23 is divided approximately in the middle. This results in two sub-bases 29a, 29b arranged at a distance from one another. Of these, a partial floor 29a lying forward in the direction of rotation is provided with the inclined contact surface 53. The slider 54 or a neck piece of the same can be moved back and forth in the gap-like intermediate space between the partial floors 29a, 29b (FIG. 9).
- a slide 54 is used for this purpose, which grips the pack 20 on a rear end face 55.
- the slide 54 is actuated by a slide rod 56, which is slidably mounted in the body or in a supporting part 57 of the drying turret 23.
- the slide rod 56 can be moved back and forth in the axial direction, so that the slide 54 can be displaced from the initial position shown in FIG. 2 and in FIG. 3 in the direction of the opposite side of the drying turret 23, that is to say to the left in FIG. 2, taking the pack 20 with it. This is pushed out of the (closed) pocket 26 and pushed into a special pack holder of the drying turret 23.
- the slide rod 56 is actuated by a slide 58 which enters a control groove 60 of a cylindrical control body 61 with a pin 59.
- the control body 61 is fixed. Due to the special shape of the control groove 60, the coordinated reciprocating movement of the slide rod 56 and thus the slide 53 is brought about.
- This is slidably mounted on two guide rods 71, 72 arranged at a distance from one another.
- the packing receptacles of the drying turret 23 are designed as elongated packing chutes 62 in the exemplary embodiment shown.
- Each packing shaft 62 is dimensioned such that several packs 20 are accommodated in succession in the longitudinal direction.
- the packs 20 are positioned within the pack shaft 62 such that end faces 50 of adjacent packs lie against one another.
- the elongated side surfaces 50 of the packs point in the radial direction of the revolver.
- the front 63 and rear 64 point outwards or radially inwards.
- the length of a packing shaft 62 is dimensioned in the present case so that exactly three packs 20 are received in succession in a packing shaft 62.
- the packs 20 are pushed out of a pocket 26 by the sliders 54 assigned to each pocket 26 and inserted into the immediately adjacent or adjacent to the pocket 26 packing shaft 62.
- a packing shaft 62 is accordingly assigned to each pocket 26. Pocket 26 and associated packing shaft 62 are aligned with one another during each movement phase, so that the immediate transfer can take place during the rotary movement.
- the packing shafts 62 which are arranged at short distances from one another along the circumference of the drying turret 23 and extend parallel to the axis, are constructed in a special way.
- a radially inner wall, namely an inner wall 67 of each packing shaft 62 is part of a cylindrical casing 68 of the drying turret.
- Connected to this is a side wall 69 which extends continuously over the full length of the packing shaft 62.
- a corresponding side wall 70 is arranged opposite. This also extends over the length of the packing shaft 62, but is movable relative to this and thus relative to the packs 20.
- the side wall 70 can be lifted off the packs and pressed against them. When a package 20 is pushed into or when the packages 20 are shifted within the package shaft 62, the side wall 70 is slightly lifted off the packages 20. After the pack 20 has been introduced, the side wall 70 acts as a pressure element for stabilizing the shape of the packs 20.
- the side wall 70 of the packing chutes 62 is in the present Example adjustable by swiveling movement.
- Each side wall 70 is supported by two holding legs 73 on a rotating member, namely a rotating rod 74. This is driven back and forth in a suitable manner, in the present case via a swivel arm 75 which is arranged at one end of the rotary rod 74 and runs with a support roller 76 on a stationary cam track 77.
- the shape of the cam track 77 determines the movements of the side wall 70.
- the cam track 77 is part of the fixed control body 61.
- the packing shaft 62 is only delimited by a strip-like or web-shaped outer wall 78. This extends in the central area of the packs or the outward-facing front sides thereof.
- a band 79 which extends in the central region of the end face 55 lies in the region of the outer wall 78. This is only connected to the side wall 69 via struts 80.
- the insertion of the packs 20 into the packing shafts 62 is connected to the transfer of the banderole 79 to the front face 55 of the packs 20 lying in the direction of insertion.
- the bands 79 are fed to the revolving turret 23.
- a fixed banderole 81 (FIG. 11) is arranged on the peripheral region of the drying turret 23. This extends over an upper part of the circular movement path of the packing shafts 62.
- the banderoles are fed one after the other via an upright banderole shaft 82 in accordance with the required relative position to the end face 55, from top to bottom or in the radial direction.
- the banderoles come into a position in front of the inlet opening 65 of a packing shaft 62.
- Each banderole 79 is carried along by a rotating packing shaft 62, such that that legs 83, 84 protrude above and below the inlet opening 65 of the packing shaft 62.
- the banderoles 79 are gripped in this position by drivers 85, 86, which are assigned to each packing shaft 62 and circulate with it.
- the drivers 85, 86 are arranged on the inner wall 67 on the one hand and the outer wall 78 on the other hand on the packing shaft 62.
- the banderoles 79 are aligned exactly with the entry opening 65 for takeover by a pack 20 while being carried along by the assigned packing shaft 62.
- guide members for the banderoles 79 extend in the circumferential direction of the drying turret 23 over a partial area.
- a guide web 87 which extends in the shape of a circular arc in the circumferential direction.
- the guide web 87 is connected to the banderole 81, but is exposed in the guide region of the banderole 79, so that the drivers 85, 86 can move on both sides of the guide web 87.
- the guide web 87 is located in the middle of the inlet opening 65 of the packing shafts 62.
- the bands 79 slide along the guide web 87 during transport. They are held on one side surface of the guide web 87 - opposite the inlet opening 65 - by suction bores 88.
- the guide web 87 is equipped with two rows of suction bores 88 which run adjacent to the arcuate edges with small distances from one another.
- the suction bores 88 are connected to a vacuum source via a central suction line 89 via suction channels (not shown in detail).
- the banderolenender 81 is also an arcuate Leading edge 90 equipped. This is located on the radially outer side with respect to the path of movement of the band 79. A narrow outer edge 91 of the band 79 lying radially on the outside slides along the guide edge 90. As a result, the banderole 79 is aligned with the packing shaft in the radial direction. Suction bores 92 are also arranged in a row in a partial region of the guide edge 90. These grip the outer legs 83 of the sleeve 79 and keep it slipping during transport.
- the precisely aligned banderoles 79 are gripped by the end face 55 of a pack 20 when it is inserted into the pack shaft 62.
- the legs 83 and 84 lie in a U-shape on the front 63 and rear 64 of the pack.
- Two transport rollers 93 are assigned to the band shaft 82 for the transport of the bands.
- a particular topic of the device is the removal of the packs 20 after leaving the drying turret 23.
- the packs 20 are transferred to the conveyor 24 in such a way that the packs 20 are conveyed in the region thereof in an upright position, with the end faces 55 being directed sideways and the narrow, elongated side surfaces 50 point up and down. With these, the pack 20 rests on the conveyor belts 94 and 95 at the top and bottom.
- a belt conveyor 96 serves to take over the packages 20 after leaving the drying turret 23. This is arranged in a region above a (imaginary) horizontal central plane of the drying turret 23 along a downward conveying path.
- a conveyor strand 97 of the belt conveyor 96 runs next to the drying turret 23, adjacent to the outlet openings 66 of the packing shafts 62.
- the conveyor strand 97 is exactly in line with the arcuate contour of the Adjusted drying turret 23.
- the relative position is such that a support surface 98 of the belt conveyor 96 is located in the region of the conveyor run 97 exactly in the plane of the packing shafts 62, namely the inner wall 67 thereof.
- the packs 20 gradually emerging from the packing chutes 62 reach the support surface 98 of the belt conveyor 96 without offset.
- the belt conveyor 96 is driven at the same speed as the packing chutes 62.
- the belt conveyor 96 is provided with holders for the packs 20. These are radially directed drivers 99 and 100. A pack 20 is received between two such drivers 99 and 100.
- the division that is to say the relative position of the drivers 99, 100, corresponds exactly to the spacings of the successive packing shafts 62.
- the radial height of the drivers 99, 100 is selected such that they extend approximately to the central plane of a package 20.
- the belt conveyor 96 consists of several, namely three conveyor belts 101, 102, 103 arranged at a distance from one another. These transport the packs 20 together and are therefore driven in unison.
- Each conveyor belt 101, 102, 103 is accordingly provided with drivers 99, 100, which extend in the same plane, for jointly grasping the packs 20 on a rear side surface 50 thereof.
- the conveyor belts 101 .. run in the area of the conveyor run 97 in guides that correspond to the contour of the drying turret 23. It is a rigid guide body 104 in the area between deflection wheels 106, 107.
- the conveyor belts 101 .. lie with the conveyor strand 97 on an outer support surface of the guide body 104.
- the guide surface is designed in a circular arc shape in accordance with the drying turret 23.
- Grooves for each conveyor belt 101 .. are formed in this area. They are accordingly Deflection wheels 106, 107 are formed with grooves 105 on their circumference. These are continued in the area of the guide body 104.
- the grooves 105 are slightly wider than the conveyor belts 101 .., so that they can slide in the grooves 105.
- the upper or an area for inserting the packs 20 facing deflection wheel 106 is arranged so that the belt conveyor 96 or its conveyor belts 101 .. is brought approximately tangentially to the path of movement of the packs 20 in the area of the packing shafts 62. As a result, the packs 20 emerging from the pack chutes 62 can enter the area of the belt conveyor 96 without being affected by the respective rear drivers 86.
- the lower deflection wheel is of split design and accordingly consists of individual wheel disks 108, each for receiving and deflecting a conveyor belt 101.
- An intermediate conveyor 110 enters cavities 109 formed between the wheel disks 108. The latter lifts the packs 20 from the belt conveyor 96 and introduces them into the area of the discharge conveyor 24 such that the packs 20 assume the described relative position between the conveyor belts 94, 95.
- the intermediate conveyor 110 is designed for this purpose as a rotating conveyor wheel, in the present case with two conveyor wheels 111, 112 arranged at a distance from one another. Both are arranged on a common shaft 113.
- the rotating conveyor wheels 111, 112 are provided with radially or approximately radially projecting driver fingers 114. A plurality of such driver fingers 114 are distributed along the circumference of the conveyor wheels 111, 112 at equal distances from one another.
- the position of the driver fingers 114 namely a slight deviation from the radial direction, is chosen such that when a package 20 is transferred to the conveyor 24, the respective driver finger 114 is in an upright position, that is to say which points transversely to the conveying direction.
- the drive fingers 114 of the conveyor wheels 111, 112 are arranged in the same planes so that they collectively collect a package 20.
- the intermediate conveyor 110 or its shaft 113 is mounted in such a way that the driver fingers 114 pass from below through the cavities 109 of the deflection wheel 107 and, in the counterclockwise rotation, successively lift the packs from the belt conveyor 96 and after a very short conveying distance to the conveyor 24 passed.
- the angular position of the conveyor belts 101 .. when the packs 20 are taken over by the driving fingers 14 corresponds approximately to the relative position of the same when they are taken over.
- the intermediate conveyor 110 extends partially in the area of the discharge conveyor 24, its lower conveyor belt 25 is divided, and accordingly consists of two spaced-apart, synchronized individual belts between which the intermediate conveyor 110 or its driver finger 114 can rotate (FIG. 13) .
- a fixed outer guide 115 assigned to the transport area of the belt conveyor 96 ends directly in the area of the discharge conveyor 24.
- the rotary movement of the intermediate conveyor 110 is adjusted to the conveying speed of the belt conveyor 96, so that the packs 20 are successively detected in position.

The performance of packaging machines, especially for cigarette packs, reaches its limits when important areas of the packaging machine are set up for intermittent operation. The development is therefore increasingly moving towards packaging machines on a continuous basis How to set up working methods.
A problem here is the handling of the fully or partially finished packs in the area of endless conveyors, in particular in the area of (folding or drying) turrets, if they rotate continuously. A turret belonging to the standard equipment of a packaging machine is provided with receptacles or pockets for the packs along the circumference. The smooth transfer of the packs from one revolver to the next is difficult because the packs have to be released by one revolver and taken over by the other.
The invention has for its object to propose measures for the handling of in particular cigarette packs in the area of a packaging machine, so that the most important areas can be driven continuously, in particular the transfer of packs from a revolver or the like to an adjacent one.
To achieve this object, the device according to the invention is characterized in that the pockets of adjacent, axially parallel revolvers engage in the area of a transfer path for the packs and the pocket walls are moved between the open and closed positions so that the packs are released from the pockets of one revolver and of which are picked up by the other revolver.
The neighboring revolvers (or other endless conveyors) are arranged at such a distance from one another that the pockets with the packs meet exactly in the area of the transfer line and briefly run along a common path of movement. This makes it possible to transfer the packs from the pocket of one revolver to the associated pocket of another revolver without any radial relative movement.
For this purpose, it is necessary that, according to the invention, the pockets or their pocket walls are designed so that they can be moved past one another. In addition, control of the movable, in particular pivotable pocket walls is required so that the packs are released from one pocket and received by the other pocket. The pocket walls are designed according to a proposal of the invention with corresponding recesses, in particular comb-like, so that the pockets can be moved past one another without interference.
The revolver taking over the packs serves to stabilize the rectangular or cuboid shape of the packs and to harden glue spots. For this purpose, according to the invention, the packs are held in shaping receptacles, in particular in packing shafts, during several revolutions of the revolver designed as a dry revolver.
Further features of the invention relate to the transfer of the packs from the dry turret and the continuous onward transport to a removal conveyor.

Fig. 1 zeigt schematisch einen kontinuierlich umlaufenden Faltrevolver 21. The examples shown in the drawings deal with the handling, namely the transport of
The packs emerging from the drying
The packs are transferred in a special way from one continuously revolving revolver (transfer revolver 22) to the next revolver (continuously revolving) (dry revolver 23). Both turrets are equipped with specially designed
The
Radialbewegung in die Tasche 26 des Trockenrevolvers 23.Another special feature of the
The described relative position of the
At least some
The process of transferring a
The
Dieser Übergabevorgang geht kontinuierlich vonstatten ohne quergerichtete Bewegung der Packungen 20.When the
In the present exemplary embodiment, the
The packs taken over by the
The
The packing receptacles of the drying
During the continuous rotation of the drying
By inserting a
On the radially outer side, the packing
The banderoles are fed one after the other via an
The
The
For further positioning of the
Two
A particular topic of the device is the removal of the
The
In the present case, the
The
The upper or an area for inserting the
The lower deflection wheel is of split design and accordingly consists of
The
The
