Definitions

  • the invention relates to a packaging and storage container intended for at least one package of knitting machine needles, having a substantially flat bottom wall and a top wall substantially parallel thereto, which is connected to the bottom wall and which defines a receiving space for at least one needle package, which at one end face has a removal opening, and with lateral guiding and holding means for the respective needle package contained in the receiving space according to the preamble of claim 1.
  • Knitting machine needles of one type are usually delivered flat next to each other to small packages of needles, e.g. packaged 50 pieces each. It is customary to put these needle packs in small paper bags or envelopes and to place several such filled bags or envelopes in a box that is supplied to the consumer. On the one hand, inserting the needle packs into the paper bags or envelopes is complex because it requires manual labor; on the other hand, the removal of the needles from the paper bags or envelopes is cumbersome for the consumer and therefore disadvantageous because, after the removal of some needles, the remaining needles in of the paper bag or envelope, which creates the risk of getting tangled.
  • a packaging and dispensing container for knitting machine needles as is known from DE-PS 1536 055, from which the invention is based, is more favorable in this respect.
  • This container made of plastic has a bottom wall, which has integrally formed longitudinal sides and partitions, and an integrally formed end wall, between the longitudinal sides, walls and partitions of which needle chambers for receiving needle packages are each divided.
  • the housing formed in this way is open on the end face opposite the end wall. Its needle chambers are closed by a cover wall which is designed in the form of a cover part which is approximately U-shaped in cross section and which consists of a flexible piece of plastic material which is inserted into grooves in the longitudinal side walls.
  • the longitudinal sides and partitions formed on the bottom wall and a bent-up, strip-shaped end piece formed on the cover part form lateral guide and holding means for the needle packs, which are thus held immovably in the needle chambers.
  • the cover part can be elastically bent away at the end, so that the needles can be released on the end face and pulled out of the receiving space formed by the respective needle chamber through its end removal opening.
  • This multi-part plastic container is expensive to manufacture and is not readily suitable for automatic packaging of the knitting machine needles.
  • the use of plastic material, which is absolutely necessary for such a container is becoming increasingly common due to the increasingly prominent problem of disposing of empty packaging.
  • the needles are in a separate one Piece of paper or similar material in which the needles are inserted.
  • This piece of paper or material is inserted into a pocket, which is fastened with an adhesive to the middle part of a cardboard blank, which on its four sides has mutually opposed, cut-off lobes which are folded onto the middle part and in the folded state by a slide-on clip which is pushed on made of transparent material, for example cellulose derivative.
  • a packaging container for hair clips is known from US Pat. No.
  • 2,305,922 which consists of a cardboard blank which has two sections which are connected to one another in the region of opposite longitudinal side edges to form a pocket having a removal opening lying one above the other. In this pocket, two rags are folded in a zigzag shape, which are parallel to the sections mentioned and on which the hair clips are individually clamped.
  • This packaging is not suitable for knitting machine needles because such needles cannot be clamped onto a cardboard strip.
  • a display packaging for bottles, cassette tapes and other preferably prepackaged articles in which a housing-like receptacle having a large display opening and limited by paired parallel side walls is formed, the side walls of which are cut out from the cardboard blank and are high curved tabs are formed, which are connected to each other in a suitable manner like a housing.
  • Such a display packaging is also not suitable for the packaging of knitting machine needles, which have to be packed in the form of packages which consist of knitting machine needles which are connected to one another flatly on the flat side.
  • the object of the invention is therefore to provide a package intended for at least one package of knitting machine needles which is not just one perfect protection of the sensitive knitting parts (in particular hook and needle tongue) of the packed needles is guaranteed, but is characterized by easy handling and removal of needles by an inexpensive manufacturing option from cheap material, while at the same time the packaging process is easy to automate.
  • the packaging and storage container mentioned at the outset intended for at least one package of knitting machine needles, has the features of claim 1 according to the invention.
  • the bottom wall and the top wall are two sections of a thin, flexible piece of material which is folded over a transverse folding edge and the two sections of which are connected to one another by connecting means in the region of opposite longitudinal side edges, forming a pocket having the removal opening on one end face, one of which Sections adjacent to the removal opening has an exposed area.
  • cut-up flaps are arranged, at least one of which is oriented essentially parallel to the folded edge and on the exposed area for supporting the end face of the respective needle package and through which the lateral guide and holding means for the respective one Needle pack are formed.
  • the generally rectangular piece of material preferably consists of cardboard impregnated with an anti-rust agent, which can be disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner. If, for certain climatic reasons, the use of cardboard is not an option, it can also be made from a possibly multi-layer plastic film.
  • the knitting machine needles are lined up in the respective package and held perfectly between the side guide and holder means as well as the closed bottom of the bag.
  • Her knitting parts are housed protected on all sides in the bag, and they also between those that form the bottom and the top wall Pocket, the folded-over sections of the thin, flexible material piece that are bounded over a wide area are elastically clamped, which provides additional security against undesired mutual movement of the needles during transport and also effectively prevents the remaining needles of partially applied packages from falling apart.
  • the new container can be produced by a simple punching and folding process, and at the same time the needle packages from a magazine can be packed fully automatically.
  • connection points are arranged in the vicinity of the edge of the removal opening in order to give the container increased stability in this area which is particularly stressed when removing the needle.
  • the connecting means are formed by at least one adhesive strip, which is fastened to the connecting points on both sections of the material piece in a U-shaped manner on the edge.
  • the two sections can also be glued to one another at the connection points or at points or strip-shaped points or mechanically stapled.
  • one of the two sections of the piece of material is set back from the other by a predetermined amount in the area of the removal opening, the other section following the removal opening having an exposed area on which the needles with their Rest the shaft.
  • the shaft and foot parts of the needles which are much less sensitive than the knitting parts, are exposed, so that the needles can be easily gripped and pulled out during removal.
  • one of the bent-up flaps which are used for guiding and holding means, is aligned essentially parallel to the folded edge and is arranged in the vicinity of the removal opening at the exposed area for supporting the end face of the associated needle package, prevents the needles from inadvertently slipping out of the pocket.
  • at least two of the bent-up lobes can be provided aligned at a distance from the width of the needle pack transversely to the folded edge, whereby, depending on the shape of the needle pack, these tabs are arranged either at right angles or enclosing an angle deviating from 90 degrees with the folded edge could be.
  • the latter arrangement is particularly important when the needle pack consists of knitting machine needles which have a greater thickness at their head part than at their foot part, so that the needle pack as a whole takes on an approximately trapezoidal shape in plan view.
  • the bent-up tabs are advantageously released from the respectively assigned section of the piece of material.
  • they can be formed in the above-mentioned exposed area adjoining the removal opening, but at least some flaps can also be provided so as to protrude into the needle receiving space delimited by the pocket. If necessary, these flaps can then also be received in recesses in the other section of the material piece for reinforcement.
  • the arrangement can also be made such that the flap arranged on the exposed area for supporting the end face of the needle package extends to one of the bottom wall upwardly projecting housing part is folded, which has a receiving opening for the associated end region of the needle package on the side opposite the removal opening of the pocket.
  • This housing part can advantageously have a substantially rectangular or square cross-sectional area, but in principle a different, for example triangular, cross-sectional area shape is also conceivable.
  • the end of the needle packet protrudes through the receiving opening into the interior of this housing part and is thus securely received and held.
  • Lateral guiding and holding means for the needle package can be formed by the lateral edges of the receiving opening, but tabs cut to the side edges of the receiving opening can also be arranged, which act as lateral guiding and holding means which are folded into the interior of the housing. These tabs have a certain intrinsic elasticity, so that they automatically compensate for variations in the width of the needle packet within certain limits, while at the same time facilitating the insertion of the needle packet into the receiving opening.
  • the flap folded into the housing part can also have fastening parts which are cut on the end face and which are fastened to the bottom wall, so that an overall stable structure results. This part of the housing therefore has several functions at the same time:
  • the housing part acts as a lateral support for the needle package and, on the other hand, the housing part takes on the load when it is stored, if several such containers as packaging units - each rotated 180 degrees against each other - one above the other be stacked.
  • a stack height of up to 500 mm and more can be achieved without the packaging or the needles being adversely affected.
  • the needles are kept orderly and protected.
  • this shape of the container makes it possible to send a single “needle packet”, as is occasionally desired in the context of deliveries of spare parts, etc.
  • it is advantageous if the container filled with needles is welded airtight into a transparent film.
  • the container shown in the drawing in several exemplary embodiments is used for packaging and storing knitting machine needles 1, the shape of which can be seen, for example, from FIG. 4 and each of which has a needle shaft 2 with a needle foot 3 and a subsequent lower knitting part 4 with a Has needle hook 5 and a needle tongue 6.
  • the punched knitting machine needles 1 are lined up in a standing manner to form a needle package which comprises, for example, 50, 25 or 20 knitting machine needles and is designated by 7 in FIG. 1.
  • the container itself is made from a thin, flexible piece of material 8 in the form of an elongated rectangular cardboard strip which is impregnated with an anti-rust agent.
  • the piece of material 8 is folded over by a transverse folding edge 9 by 180 °, which divides it into two sections 10, 11, which are arranged one above the other to form a pocket 12 closed at 9 on the bottom, as can be seen in particular from FIGS. 1.4 is.
  • the two sections 10, 11 have a different length.
  • the longer section 10 forms a bottom wall or a needle carrier, while a top wall is formed by the upper shorter section 11.
  • the two sections 10, 11 lying one above the other are at their Longitudinal edges bounded together by means of connecting means.
  • These connecting means are formed by an adhesive strip 16 which is glued to the two sections in a U-shaped manner on the edge thereof.
  • the adhesive strip 16 can also be divided in the longitudinal or transverse direction, as is also conceivable to glue the edge-side connection of the two sections 10, 11 alternatively or additionally.
  • Such dot-shaped or line-shaped adhesive strips are indicated at 17 in FIG. 1.
  • connection points are correspondingly extending the connection points up to the folded edge 9, or several connection points in Provide spacing along the length of the bag; it is also conceivable in special cases to insert edge strips between the two sections 10, 11 and to fix them at the connection points.
  • FIGS. 1, 2 show that when the needle package 7 is inserted, the openings 20, 21 that result when the cut flaps 18, 19 are released lie substantially below the needle package 7, and that the flap 18 is aligned approximately parallel to the folded edge 9 . It rests on the associated end face of the needle pact 7.
  • the other two tabs 19 are arranged at a distance from the width of the needle package 7; they are aligned essentially at right angles to the folded edge 9 and support the needle pack 7 laterally. If, for example with regard to the length of the knitting machine needles 1, it appears expedient to support the needle package 7 laterally also in the area of the knitting parts 4, the tabs corresponding to the tabs 19 can also be provided in the area of the pocket 12, which are then in the receiving space stick out for the needles.
  • the needle pack 7 can also be divided into sub-packs, which are then each held and supported in the manner shown in FIG. 1 between tabs 18, 19.
  • the introduction of the knitting machine needles 1 into the container can be carried out fully automatically in a simple manner in such a way that the individual needle packs are placed from a magazine onto the longer section 10 forming the bottom wall or the needle carrier before folding over the shorter section 11 forming the top wall the previous operation was provided with the flaps 18, 19 bent up. The shorter section 11 is then turned over and the adhesive strip 16 is applied.
  • the knitting machine needles are already properly packed. Since the needle package 7 is narrower than the material piece 8 and the shorter section 11 forming the top wall is bent towards the edges when the adhesive strip 16 is glued against the longer section 10 the knitting machine needles 1 are held on their knitting parts 4 in the pocket 12 under elastic pretension between the two sections 10, 11.
  • FIG. 6,7 largely corresponds to the embodiment according to FIGS. 1 to 4. The same parts are therefore provided with the same reference numerals and are not explained again.
  • the needle packet 7 While in the embodiment according to FIGS. 1 to 5 the needle packet 7 has a substantially rectangular shape in plan view, the needle packet 7a to be packed is trapezoidal in plan view in the embodiment according to FIGS. This is because the knitting machine needles have a greater thickness in the area of their knitting part 4 than in the foot area.
  • the tabs 19a supporting the needle pack laterally are therefore aligned in an approximately V-shaped arrangement; with the folded edge 9 they enclose an angle of approximately 80 ° deviating from 90 °.
  • the side tabs 19a are not provided in the exposed area 15, but are unlatched below the shorter section 11 in the longer section 10 such that they protrude into the pocket 12.
  • slits indicated by dashed lines at 22 can be provided in FIG. 6, which accommodate the tabs 19a and thus impart additional lateral stability.
  • FIGS. 8 to 12 like the fourth embodiment shown in FIGS. 13 to 15, basically corresponds to the embodiment according to FIGS. 1 to 5 or according to FIGS. 6, 7.
  • the same parts are therefore the same Provide reference numerals and not explained again in detail.
  • a housing part 25 with a rectangular cross section is provided, which is provided by the the bottom wall forming section 10 is provided from projecting upwards.
  • a flap 180 is cut on the face side of the material piece 8, which is designed in the form of an elongated, rectangular cardboard strip, and is connected to section 10 via a first transverse folding line 26.
  • three further fold lines 27, 28, 29 are present in the flap 180 at a distance from the height or the width of the housing part 25, which folds the two opposite side walls 30, 31 that are perpendicular to the section 10 in the folded state (FIG. 8) and limit the cover wall 32 of the housing part 25 parallel to the section 10.
  • the fold line 29 adjacent to the front edge divides a fastening tab 33 which, in the folded state, is fastened, for example glued, to the section 10, so that overall a stable housing arrangement firmly connected to the section 10 results.
  • a rectangular receiving opening 34 is cut out in the upright side wall 30, the side opening of two parallel Folded edges 35 (FIG. 12) is limited, which form the lateral edges of the receiving opening 34 and via which a tab 36 cut free on three sides is connected.
  • the two tabs 36 are folded into the interior of the housing in the manner shown in FIGS. 8, 9, acting as lateral guiding and holding means for the needle package 7.
  • the arrangement is such that the distance between the two folded edges 35 is greater than the width (the so-called "handle width") of the needle pack 7 and that the two tabs 36 form an acute angle with the associated side wall 30 such that they are under hold the needle package 7 resiliently yielding laterally due to the effect of its own elasticity.
  • Fig. 10 shows that the height of the receiving opening 34 is greater than the height of the needle shaft part 70 received in the housing interior. This ensures that individual needles 1 or the entire needle package 7 can be removed from the container in a simple manner without this Housing part 25 must be destroyed. It only needs to be bent elastically downwards together with the section 10, so that the end face of the needle package 7 is released from the folded-down housing part 25 through the receiving opening 34.
