My invention relates to improvements'in display devices.

An object of my invention is to provide a duplex display stand which may be used 'for various pur- .;g poses comprising a base and side Walls projecting upwardly from said base to an apex and each side wall being arranged' to display identicalsubject matter so that the display stand will present substantially the same appearance whetherit jip is viewed from the front or the rear, thus providing a duplex display stand which may be stood cn any high object such as a counter and from which the display matter will be equally visible from either side.

A further object of my invention is to provide such a display stand having a plurality of detachable packages of merchandise detachably securacle thereto, preferably an equal number of said detachable packages on each side providing a d is- .20 pensing as Well as a display device adapted to display an equal number of packages and preferably advertising matter relative thereto from each side thereof.

Further advantages of my inveni relate to 25 the detailed construction lof the display stand itself and the packages themselves. I preferably so construct my duplex display stand that it is constructed from a single sheet of material and v it is preferably provided withja central portion printed on each side with identical advertising matter. Said single sheet of material is bent into duplex sides substantially'near the center thereof along a flexible line, preferably where a dis-- play stand having a centralportion is provided, near each side thereof. In'order that the central portions displaying the advertising matter may' be more readily visible from each side the central portion is preferably cut out from one side into the other side thereof for a distance and said op-V 40 pcsite side also preferably cut down so that said central portion may project upwardly from one side thereof and display equallyv 'said 'identicalprinting advertising matter on each side thereof when the sides are stood up on end. Further features of my invention relate to the specific construction of spacingv base I employ for the easel or duplex display stand of my invention by providing a base which will remain rigid when set and which may be readily unfolded sol that the sides of the duplex display stand may be compressed for shipping purposes. ages which I'dispense preferably from each side of the display stand and in combination therewith the specific structure of the means I provide on said display stand for detachably securing said packages thereto.` I provide a structure including preferably a plurality of packages preferably of small articles such as shoe laces, shoe accessories, etc., which may be readily attached or detached to the side of the display stand or card and which may also if desired be readily packed into the packages or removed therefrom as de-` sired.

A further feature of my invention' relates to the improved type of package I preferably employ which, if desired, may be readily attached or detached to a display card as Well as to the pre-- ferred type of display stand I preferably employ.

These and such other objects of my invention as may hereinafter appear will be best understood from a description of an embodiment thereof, such as is shown in the accompanying'drawings.

In the drawings, wherein like characters of reference generally indicate like parts throughout, 10 generally indicates a display stand constructed in accordance with the teachingsof my invention. My improved display stand 10 includes a duplex display card 12 such as is illustrated in Fig. 5 as formed from a single sheet of material. The central printed portion 14 is cut out from the side 16 into the other' side 16a for a distance and said side 16 is preferably additionally cut down as at 20 (see Figs. 2 and 5) for a distance to permit said central portion 14 to project upwardly from one side and equally display said printed advertising matter on each side thereof, when the sides 16 and 1621- are stood up on end.

I preferably, however, 'employ' in combination with'my improved display stand or if desired with a display card, a plurality of packages adapted .tobe'detachably secured thereto andfor this purpose I provide the plurality of sets 36 of spaced opposite disposed preferably horizontal prongs projecting' outwardly from' said prong 38 of each set 36 being preferably longer than the opposite prong 40 of said set. These sets of prongs form means for detachably securing my improved packages to my improvedduplexf display stand or to any type of la card.

As stated each banded package preferably includes a'pair of shoe laces and in the embodiment shown each box 42 contains two pairs or two packages of a pair each of banded shoe laces. The box shown as 42 provides a very desirable medium for packing the shoe lace packages therein. As shown in Fig. '7 two of such packages v*48 each containing a pair of shoe laces each provvided with a band 52 on which advertising mat- -ter may be displayed are squeezed side by side together in the hand. One end of said combined packages 48 is then inserted through the elongated opening 46 as shown in Fig. '7 until it projects` through the opening 44 in one end of said box. Itis thus obvious that the opposite end of said package may then be readily compressed through the opening 46 into the box and the shoe lace packages slid4 over until they are entirely contained within the box 42 and so that the ends thereof may extend beyond the ends of the dispensing opening 46 in the cover 54 but are contained within the box inwardly of the

open ends

44 and 44` thereof. If desired the shoe lace packages may be individually removed from the boxes 42 either by grasping them at their centers and lifting them directly out of the opening 46 causing the packages of shoe laces to` flex and the ends to be released from under the ends of the cover without removing the packages from the display stand or card or the shoe lace packages 48 may be readily pushed out through an

44 and 44 of said box with or without removal 'from the display stand or card.

To attach a package to the display stand or box as illustrated in Fig. 4 it is merely necessary to slide vthe box 42 so that the longer prong 38 where employed may slide through the open end 44l of said box underneath the shoe lace packages 48 and the opposite prong 40 may be readily inserted inthe opposite end 44 of the box either by pushing it out forwardly from the card 16 or by pushing the whole box 42 over underneath the 'prong 38 s'o Ythat the prong 40 may be slid into position underneath the shoe lace package at the open end 44 of (said box 42 and it is obvious that the packages may be similarly detached from the display card or stand in the opposite fashion.

It is thus obvious that I have provided a novel type ofpackage for small articles such as shoe laces which is so constructed as to be particularly adapted to be attached to or detached from a display or dispensing card or stand particularly of arduplex type and particularly adapted for use in displaying said detachable packages. It is also apparent that I have provided a duplex display stand having such novel features'of its own, which is particularly useful in combination with said packages as a dispensing stand therefor.

It Vis lunderstood that my invention is not limited to specific embodiment shown and that various deviations may be made therefrom without departing from'the spirit and scope of the appended claims.

What I'claim is: Y

1,. vA duplex display stand comprising, in combination', a duplex display card formed from a single sheetr of material having a central portion printed on each side with identical advertising matter and` bent into two duplex'sides substantially4 at the center thereof along a exible line near-each -side thereof and Yhaving the Ycentralv printed portion cut out from one side into theequally display said vprinted advertising matter on each side thereof when said sides are stood up on end, a'plurality of sets of spaced oppositely disposed prongs projecting horizontally outwardf ly from said sides one prong of each set being from ,said sides, similar advertising matter yon 'the exposed portion of each side of said card, a

substantially longer than the other, similar advertising matter on the exposed portion of each'Y side of said card, a spacing base for the sides of said card comprising a piece of relatively stiff material secured to the innerlower ends of -said sides flexible centrally for infolding purposes and a relatively stiff tab of a length correspondingy to the desired spacing'between said sides prowhen said sides are compressed for shipping purposes and adapted to project horizontally over said material to abut said opposite side to form a base and space said sides apart in set position and a plurality of oblong boxes having open ends each adapted to receive one of said sets of prongs to mount each respective box on said sides and an elongated longitudinally disposed dispensing opening therein and a number of folded and banded packages of shoe laces, said packages being packed into the box side by side and extending in the same direction as the long axis of the dispensing opening in the cover, the ends of the shoe lace packages extending beyond the ends of the dispensing opening.

In combination, a display card having a plurality of sets of spaced oppositely disposed prongs projecting outwardly therefrom and a plurality of boxes having open ends each adapted to receive one of said sets of prongs to mount each respective box on said sides and dispensing opening therein and a number of folded and banded packages of shoe laces, said packages being packed into the box side by side, the ends of the shoe lace packages extending beyond the ends of the dispensing opening.

3. In combination, a display card having a plurality of sets of spaced oppositely disposed prongs projecting outwardly therefrom and a plurality of boxes having open ends each adapted to receive one of said sets of prongs to mount each respective box on said sides.

In combination, Va display card having a plurality of sets of spaced oppositely disposed prongs projecting outwardly therefrom, one prong of each set being substantially longer than the other and a plurality of boxes having open ends each adapted to receive one of said sets of prongs to mount each respective box on said sides and a dispensing opening therein and a number of folded and banded packages of shoe laces, said packages being packed into the box side by side, the ends of the shoe lace packages extending beyond the ends of the dispensing opening.

In combination, a display card having a plurality of sets of spaced oppositely disposed prongs projecting outwardly therefrom, one prong of each set being substantially longer than the other and a plurality of boxes having open ends each adapted to receive one of said sets of prongs to mount each respective box on said sides.

A duplex display stand comprising, in combination a duplex display card formed from a single sheetk of material having a central portien printed on each side with identical advertising matter and bent into two duplex sides substantially at the center thereof along a flexible'line near each side thereof and .having the rcentral printed portion cut out from one side in- '.to thepther. side thereof and said side cut down for a distance to project upwardly from one side and equally display said printedadvertising matter on each side thereof when vsaid sides are stood up'on end, a. plurality of sets of spaced oppositely disposed prongs projecting outwardly spacing base for the sides of said card comprising a piece of relatively stiff material having the ends thereof secured to the. inner lower ends of said sides flexible centrally for infolding purposes and a relatively stiff tab of a length corresponding to the vdesired spacing between said sides projecting inwardly from a side of said stiff material adapted to swing upwardly between said sides when said sides are compressed for shipping purposes and adapted to project horizontally over said material to abut said opposite side to form a base and space said sides apart and a plurality of oblong boxes having open ends each adapted to receive one of said sets of prongs to mount each respective box on said sides and an elongated longitudinally disposed dispensing opening therein and a number of folded and banded packages of shoe laces, said packages being packed into the box side by side and extending in the same direction as the long axis of the dispensing opening in the cover, the ends of the shoe lace packages extending beyond the ends of lthe dispensing opening. e

A duplex display stand comprising in combination a duplex display card formed from a single sheet of material and bent into two duplex sides substantially at the center thereof along a flexible line, a plurality of sets of spaced oppositely disposed prongs projectingoutwardly from said sides, a spacing base for the sides of said card comprising a piece of relatively stiff material having the ends thereof secured to the inner lower ends of said sides flexible centrally for infolding purposes and a relatively stiff tab of a length corresponding to the desired spacing between said sides projecting inwardly from a side of. said stii y'material adapted to swing upwardly between said sides when said sides are compressed for shipping purposes and adapted to project horizontally over said material to abutesaid opposite side to form a base and space said sides apart and a plurality of oblong boxes having open ends each adapted to receive one of said sets of prongs to mount each respective box on said sides and an elongated longitudinally disposed dispensingl Vopening therein and a number of folded and banded packages of shoe laces, said packages being packed into the box side by side and extend-v ing in the same direction as the long axis Vof the dispensing opening in the cover, the ends of the shoe lace packages extending beyond the ends of the dispensing opening.

A triangular duplex display stand, comprising a base, side walls projecting upwardly from said base to an apex, one side having a portion -projecting upwardly therefrom having duplicate display matter on each side thereof and the other side having a cooperating cut out portion, whereby said display matter is equally visible on both sides.V o o 13. A display card having a set of spaced 0ppositely disposed prongs` projecting outwardly therefrom and boxes -having `open ends each adapted to receive one of said prongs to mount it thereon and an elongated longitudinally disposed dispensing opening therein and a number of folded and banded packages o shoe laces, said packages being packed into the box side by side and extending in the same direction as the long axis of the dispensing opening in the cover, the ends of the shoe lace package extending beyond the ends of the dispensing opening.
