HANGABLE DOLL DRESS PACKAGE Filed Aug. 25, 1954 y IrTIVENToR @maya United States Patent O HANGABLE DOLL DRESS PACKAGE Samuel Goldband, Springfield, Mass.
Application August 25, 1954, Serial No. 452,188
'1 Claim. (Cl. 21M-45.34)
This invention relates to improvements in packages and is directed particularly to a hangable package for doll dress.
The principal object of the invention is the provision of a package including a receptacle, in which is an article of clothing such as a dress for a doll, having means for hanging up the package.
The receptacle is provided with an open front having transparent material thereover to expose a dolls dress in the receptacle. A hanger is attached to the closure for hanging up the closure and is readily removable therefrom for use in hanging up the dress when it is removed from the receptacle.
Thus the merchandise such as the doll dress in the receptacle is protected for storage and shipping purposes. The package may be hung up for display and sales purposes in such a manner that the dress is protected against handling by customers. A purchaser of the package may detach the hanging means from the package and use the same for hanging up the contents, such as the dolls dress.
All of the above objects I accomplish by means of such structure and relative arrangements of parts thereof, as will fully appear by a perusal of the description below and by various specific features which will be hereinafter set forth.
To the above cited and other ends and with the foregoing and various other novel features and advantages and other objects of my invention as will become more readily apparent as the description proceeds, my invention consists in certain novel features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more particularly pointed out in the claim hereunto annexed and more fully described and referred to in connection with the accompanying drawings wherein:
Fig. l is a plan View of the dolls dress package embodying the novel features of the invention;
Fig. 2 is an inverted plan view of the upper portion of the package shown in Fig. 1; and
Fig. 3 is a sectional elevational view on the line 3-3 of Fig. l.
Referring now to the drawings more in detail, the invention will be fully described.
A receptacle 2 is provided which has side walls 4, upper and lower end walls 6 and 8 extending upwardly from a rear wall 10. The receptacle is traylike in form, and has an open upper side or top.
Clothing for a doll such as a dress D is disposed in the receptacle and is arranged for display purposes.
The open side of the receptacle is covered by transparent material 12 such as cellophane or some relatively thin filmlike plastic material.
Marginal edge portions of the covering material 12 are brought around and over the walls of the receptacle and portions 14 are secured to the rear wall 10 in a well known manner as by adhesive.
ice
Thus the clothing is displayed adequately and at the same time it is protected against handling by prospective customers when displayed. The package is in suitable form for shipping and storage purposes.
A hanger H is provided which is preferably formed from plastic material or the like. Said hanger H is provided with a hook portion 16 and outwardly extending side arms 18.
The bottom wall 10 of the receptacle in the upper portion thereof is provided with relatively spaced openings 20 adapted to receive the side arms 18 of the hanger.
The material from which the hanger H is formed is such that the side arms 18 of the hanger are pliable or yieldable so that they may be bent for insertion through the openings 20 of the bottom wall 10 of thelreceptacle. End portions of the side arms are then disposed as in Fig. l whereby the receptacle is supported by the hanger.
The package may be hung up on a hook or the like for displaying the contents of the receptacle. ln this way not only may the dress be displayed but it is protected against dust and the like as well as against handling which tends to soil the dress.
A purchaser of the package may remove or break the covering material to remove the dress from the receptacle and then withdraw the arms of the hanger from the openings 20.
The hanger H is then inserted in the neck opening of the dress so that the dress may be hung up by the hanger.
The invention may be embodied in other specific forms without departing from the essential characteristics thereof. Hence, the present embodiments are therefore to be considered in all respects merely as being illustrative and not as being restrictive, the scope of the invention being indicated by the appended claim rather than by the foregoing description, and all modifications and variations as fall within the meaning and purview and range of equivalency of the appended claim are therefore intended to be embraced therein.
What it is desired to claim and secure by Letters Patent of the United States is:
A hang-up doll dress package comprising in combination, a receptacle having a vertical rear Wall and opposite side and upper and lower walls extending forwardly therefrom providing an open forward side, a doll dress on said rear wall having a neck opening, a relatively thin rupturable transparent covering over the open forward side of the receptacle having marginal portions secured to said walls, said rear wall provided with openings therethrough adjacent said upper wall disposed a certain distance apart, a hanger having an upper hook and elongated side arms extending in opposite directions from a lower portion of said hook and through said openings with outer end portions of said arms against the inner side of said rear wall and inner portions of said arms against the outer side of said rear wall and said hook disposed above the plane of said upper wall whereby said receptacle may be supported by said hanger, said hanger being formed from relatively thin pliable plastic so that it may be separated from said receptacle to support said dress by withdrawing said arms outwardly through said openings and removing said dress from the receptacle to receive said arms in the neck opening thereof.
