Definitions

  • the FROG or DED method of ascent along a fixed rope 10 makes use of a dynamic sit-stand system operating with a pair of blockers 12, 14 and a foot loop 16 in the form pedal.
  • the first ascender 12 is fixed to the harness 18 for climbing the climber 20, and cooperates in the ventral area with the rope 10 to freely allow an ascending movement of the climber 20 along the arrow M, and to oppose any opposite movement D descent by self-locking action on the rope 10.
  • the second blocker 14 has an operation similar to the first, and is connected to the foot loop 16 by a connecting cord 22 having a diameter generally less than that of the main rope 10.
  • the second blocker 14 is engaged on the rope 10 above the first blocker 12, and is movable in the direction of ascent M by a lifting action by means of the hand 24 of the climber 20.
  • the foot loop 16 is provided for the positioning of a foot of the right or left leg or of the two feet in the same loop, but it is also possible to provide a pair of separate pedals for the engagement of the two feet. climber 20.
  • the rise of a step d requires a vertical displacement of the same length of the second blocker 14, and of the foot loop 16. During this displacement, the force F1 of thrust on the foot loop 16 is substantially equal to the weight P of the climber 20, neglecting the traction forces of the hand 24.
  • the FROG ascent consisting of standing up (legs straight), then to sit down (legs folded), requires forces proportional to the weight P of the climber 20.
  • a method and an ascent device comprising the features of the preamble of claim 1 and 4, respectively, are known from the "Italian" method (see figs. 3 and 4).
  • the "Italian" method consists in attaching the cord 22 to the first blocker 12, with an intermediate passage on a first hen 26 secured of the second blocker 14.
  • the connecting cord 22 forms a half-turn mounted on the pulley 26, and connected respectively by its opposite ends to the first blocker 12 and to the foot loop 16.
  • the reduction effect generated by the presence of the pulley 26 allows, compared to the FROG process, to halve the force exerted on the foot loop 16.
  • the modulus of force F2 ( Figure 4) corresponds substantially to the half the weight P of the climber 20, of course neglecting the traction forces of the hand 24. But the disadvantage of this "Italian" method comes from the greater displacement of the foot loop 16.
  • the unevenness of the foot corresponds substantially to a doubling of the distance of the step. This results in a certain slowness of movement, and this method is not suitable for the ascent of wells of great heights, for example greater than 15 meters, because of the shortness of breath it causes.
  • the document FR-A-2422587 describes a mixed device descender-blocker of rope, usable either as a descender or as a blocker, respectively during the descent or ascent along a fixed rope. Such a device does not by itself generate a reduction in the effort during the ascent when the descender is out of service.
  • a first object of the invention consists in finding an effective method of ascent along a rope, making it possible to reconcile the problems of reduction in effort with the displacement race.
  • the method according to the invention is characterized in that the cord also passes over a second hen secured to the foot loop, and that the other end of the cord is fixed to the second blocker, to cause a multiplying effect of the force F3 exerted on the foot loop, the modulus of said force F3 necessary for a step of ascent corresponding substantially to two thirds of the weight of the climber, while the corresponding stroke of the leg during the passage of the standing to sitting position reaches approximately one and a half times the distance of one ascent step.
  • the effort reduction effect is generated by a hoist device secured to the foot loop. This results in optimum functioning of the sit-stand ascent system, requiring a moderate effort on the foot loop for a stroke of the leg slightly greater than the distance of a step of ascent.
  • the device is characterized in that the cord additionally passes over a second pulley integral with the foot loop, and that the other end of the cord is fixed to the second blocker so as to form a hoist device.
  • the first pulley is associated with the second blocker at a predetermined location located above the point of attachment of the cord, in particular at the level of the blocking trigger.
  • the hooking of the cord on the first blocker must be as short as possible. It can be carried out by means of a knot, or an anchor device.
  • the ascent of the first blocker in the direction of the second blocker then has a maximum stroke. This results in a minimum of fatigue during the second lifting step.
  • the cord 22 of the foot loop 16 cooperates with a pair of hens 26, 28 to form a hoist device 30.
  • one 46 of the ends of the cord 22 is secured to the first blocker 12, followed by engagement on the first upper pulley 26 associated with the second blocker 14.
  • the cord 22 passes to the lower part on a second pulley 28 secured to the foot loop 16, and is then secured by the end opposite to the second blocker 14.
  • the reduction effect due to the presence of the hoist device 30 implies a moderate force applied to the foot loop 16 during the ascent.
  • the force module F3 (FIG. 5) necessary for a climbing step of the climber 20 corresponds substantially to two thirds of the weight P of the climber 20.
  • the corresponding stroke of the leg reaches approximately 1.5 times the distance of a step of ascent.
  • the sit-stand lift system shows the two different types of blockers 12 and 14, the first 12 of which is a ventral blocker secured to the harness 18, and the second 14 of which is associated with a handle 44 d 'ascent.
  • Each of these blockers 12, 14 comprises, in a well known manner, a blocking trigger 32, 34 cooperating with the main rope 10.
  • the hoist device 30 is equipped with a tensioner 36 for adjusting the useful length of the cord 22.
  • One end of the cord 22 forms a ring 38 of attached attachment by means of a carabiner 40 in an orifice 42 at the lower part of the handle 44 for gripping the second blocker 14.
  • the cord 22 at the outlet of the tensioner 36 passes through the second pulley 28 of the foot loop 16.
  • the other end 46 of the cord 22, after passing over the first pulley 26, is fixed directly to the first blocker 12 by means of a knot, or an anchor device, shown in FIG. 8.
  • the anchor device comprises, for example, a section of tube 50, having a slot 52 for introducing the end 46 of the cord 22.
  • the attachment of the end 46 of the cord 22 inside the tube 50 is carried out by a crimping operation. It then suffices to introduce the tube 50 axially into a hole 54 in the flange 56 of the first blocker 12, and to orient the tube 50 at a right angle to ensure the self-jamming of the anchor device, and the attachment of the cord 22 to the first blocker 12. This fastener is then easily removable, even in the presence of mud, or with gloves.
  • the pulley 26 of the second blocker 14 is housed laterally in a stirrup 58 secured to the outer flank of the metal body 60 by fixing means 62.
  • the axis 64 of the pulley 26 extends orthogonally with respect to to the pivot axis 66 of the trigger 34, and is anchored by one of its ends to the stirrup 58, and by its end opposite to the external flank of the body 60.
  • the pulley 26 is mounted with free rotation on the axis 64, and is located substantially at the level of the blocking zone defined by the trigger 34.
  • Figures 13 and 14 show a variant of the second blocker 140, without a grip handle.
  • the stirrup 158 of the pulley 126 is fixed to the rear of the body 160, and the axis 164 is slightly inclined relative to the direction of the axis 166 of pivoting of the trigger 134.
  • the angle of inclination of the axis 164 is chosen to ensure correct positioning of the pulley 126 by the reaction of the cord 22 during the pushing phase on the foot loop 16.
