Definitions

  • the invention relates to a headlight for motor vehicles according to the preamble of claim 1.
  • Such a headlight is known from DE-OS 35 19 611.
  • This headlight has a reflector into which a gas discharge lamp protrudes.
  • the light outlet opening of the headlight is covered with a lens.
  • the gas discharge lamp also emits electromagnetic radiation in the invisible range, which can lead to interference, for example, in radio reception in motor vehicles.
  • gas discharge lamps such as fluorescent tubes
  • the coating can also be designed like a grid.
  • the gas discharge lamps are intended for general lighting purposes, such as room lighting, where it is not necessary that the light emitted by the gas discharge lamp be distributed in a certain way.
  • these gas discharge lamps are not suitable for use in headlights for motor vehicles, since the light emitted by the gas discharge lamp must be distributed in a very specific way in order to comply with legal regulations for the light distribution, so that the light beam emerging from the headlight is influenced by the coating must be avoided.
  • specially designed gas discharge lamps are required for use in headlights for motor vehicles with regard to their operating properties and dimensions.
  • a traffic signal system is known from Patent Abstracts of Japan, Volume 4, No. 14 (E-169), Jan. 31, 1980, JP-A-54-154996, in which a gas discharge lamp is used as a light source.
  • the signaling system has a housing in which a reflector is arranged and the light exit opening of which is covered with a colored lens.
  • a transparent, radiation-absorbing, electrically conductive coating To shield interference radiation emitted by the gas discharge lamp, an additional part is arranged between the gas discharge lamp and the lens, which is provided with a transparent, radiation-absorbing, electrically conductive coating. In the case of the signal system, it is insignificant for its function if the coating exerts an influence on the light emerging from it.
  • the headlamp according to the invention with the features of claims 1 to 3 has the advantage over the headlamp known from document DE-A-35 19 611 that shielding radiation emitted by the gas discharge lamp is shielded.
  • the headlight according to claims 1 and 2 also has the advantage that no additional component is required, since the coating is arranged on the lens or lens present in the headlight.
  • the headlight according to claim 3 also has the advantage that it is ensured by the arrangement of the shielding device in the unsharpness of the beam path that it does not interfere with the light distribution generated by the headlight.
  • FIG. 1 shows a first embodiment of a headlamp in longitudinal section in a greatly simplified representation
  • FIG. 2 shows the headlamp in front view
  • FIG. 3 shows a second embodiment of the headlamp in longitudinal section.
  • FIG. 1 shows a first exemplary embodiment of a headlight for motor vehicles, which has a reflector 10, into which a gas discharge lamp 11 is inserted.
  • the light exit opening of the headlight is covered with a lens 12.
  • the lens 12 is provided with a transparent metallic coating 14 which is grounded and is shielded by the electromagnetic radiation which arises during the discharge process within the glass bulb 13 and which could interfere with fadio waves.
  • FIG. 3 shows a second exemplary embodiment of a headlight based on the projection principle, in which a diaphragm 15, a lens 16 and the lens 12 are arranged in the beam path of the light rays reflected by the reflector 10.
  • the upper edge of the diaphragm 15 is imaged by the lens as the light-dark boundary of the light distribution.
  • the lens 16 is provided with a coating 14 as described in FIG. 1 for shielding the interference radiation, the coating 14 also being grounded.
  • a shielding device 18 can be arranged in the unsharpness area of the beam path between the gas discharge lamp 11 and the lens 16 or between the lens 16 and the lens 12, which is shown in FIG. 2 and consists of a large number of thin metallic wires 19 exists, which are arranged at such a distance from one another transversely to the light exit direction that sufficient light can pass between them.
  • the wires 19 are grounded and can also be arranged in a different pattern, for example like a fence.

Abstract
