If the forme cylinder 1 is to be operated with a printing plate to be subsequently clamped in the opposite direction of rotation, the clamping spindle 8 only needs to be brought into the corresponding starting position when the printing plate 15 is clamped in, without any changes to the clamping device, e.g. replacement of parts and in particular loosening and subsequent reattachment with a changed arrangement of a part of the clamping device are required. Furthermore, the tensioning device according to the invention avoids the risk of machine parts falling out and the associated risk of injury to operating personnel or damage to the printing press due to incorrect conversion of the support element.
