Definitions

  • the present invention relates to compositions for protecting metals as well as to a process for the production of said compositions, and to a process for protecting metals.
  • Some of these products contain chromic acid. This compound, which is suitable for cleaning metal surfaces, however has only limited effectiveness in protecting them against oxidation.
  • the aim of the present invention is therefore to provide a new composition which protects metals more effective than the known compositions, and which is non-toxic. since it does not require the use of an organic solvent.
  • the subject of the present invention is protective compositions for metals, characterized in that they contain a mixture comprising from 0.8 to 1.5 g / l of a suitable azole derivative, endowed with anti-corrosion properties, and from 0.005 to 0.01 g / l of a stearic acid: dicyclohexylamine mixture in a 1: 1 molar ratio, in solution in water.
  • said composition contains a mixture consisting of 0.8 to 1.5 g / l of 1-phenyl-5-mercaptotetrazole, and 0.005 to 0.01 g / l of an acid mixture stearic: dicyclohexylamine in a 1: 1 molar ratio, in solution in water.
  • the present invention further relates to a process for the preparation of a protective composition for metals, characterized in that a solution of an appropriate azole derivative, endowed with anti-corrosive properties, is prepared in water , at a concentration of 0.8 to 1.5 g / l and in that one adds to this solution 0.005 to 0.01 g / l of an equimolar mixture of stearic acid and dicyclohexylamine.
  • a solution of 1-phenyl-5-mercaptotetrazole in water is prepared, at a concentration of 0.8 to 1.5 g / l and in that 0.005 to 0.01 g / l of an equimolar mixture of stearic acid and dicyclohexylamine are added to this solution.
  • the present invention further relates to a method for protecting a metal surface, characterized in that said metal surface is brought into contact with a protective composition according to the present invention, then rinsed with water.
  • the metal surface to be protected is immersed in the protective composition.
  • the protective composition is sprayed onto the metal surface to be protected.
  • a stearic acid: dicyclohexylamine mixture is carried out in the molar ratio 1: 1. The mixture is brought to 70 ° C., then cooled to room temperature. 0.005 g of this powdered mixture are dissolved, with stirring, in a liter of 1-phenyl-5-mecaptotetrazole solution.
  • Example 2 The operation is carried out according to the method described in Example 1, using a 1.5 g / l solution of 1-phenyl-5-mercaptotetrazole, to which 0.008 g / l of the stearic acid: dicyclohexylamine mixture is added.
  • Example 2 The operation is carried out according to the method described in Example 1, using a 0.8 g / l solution of 1-phenyl-5-mercaptotetrazole, to which 0.006 g / l of the stearic acid: dicyclohexylamine mixture is added.
  • Example 2 The operation is carried out according to the method described in Example 1, using a 1.2 g / l solution of 1-phenyl-5-mercaptotetrazole, to which 0.01 g / l of the stearic acid: dicyclohexylamine mixture is added.
  • the metal surface to be treated is pickled, if necessary, by a treatment with chromic acid, followed by a treatment with concentrated NH3, then rinsed with tap water and distilled water.
  • the surface to be treated is immersed in the protective composition prepared according to one of examples 1 to 4, maintained at a temperature of 30 to 40 ° C, for a period of 3 to 5 minutes, then rinsed twice with distilled water .
  • the first rinse is carried out at room temperature, the second rinse at a temperature of 50 to 60 ° C. the metal surface is then dried at a temperature of about 60 to 70 ° C.
  • a protective composition prepared according to one of examples 1 to 4 is sprayed onto the surface to be protected and left in contact with it for 3 to 5 minutes.
  • the surface thus treated is rinsed and dried as described in the previous example.
  • One liter of protective solution makes it possible to treat, by one or other of the methods given as an example, a metal surface of 40 to 70 dm2.
  • an untreated silver object changes color after 2 minutes, while the treated object retains its color for 60 minutes.
  • An untreated copper plate completely changes color after one minute, while a treated copper plate begins to change color after 132 minutes.
  • An object in 18 carat gold changes color after 60 minutes without treatment, and 230 minutes after treatment.
