Definitions
- the present invention relates to a device for aligning cutouts of boxes in a machine working in particular in a folder-gluer.
- lower and upper belt conveyors are used in combination as well as, in some cases, the combination of one or more lower belt conveyors with upper ramps of pressure rollers.
- One of the alignment correction devices known in the art consists of a rectifier comprising a series of lower and upper rollers staggered on a lower beam and an upper beam which can be moved away, one of the other, so as to take into account the thickness of the cutout passing between the upper and lower rollers.
- the device making it possible to move the beams apart from one another further comprises a device ensuring permanent and variable pressure of the upper rollers on the upper face of the blank.
- the upper and lower beams are, on the other hand, arranged so that they can be arranged at a defined and invariable angle relative to the longitudinal axis of the machine.
- the assembly thus formed acts jointly with a longitudinal guide rail. Therefore, by choosing a correct inclination of the rectifier, the action of the rollers thereof, on one of the sides of each of the cuts, will apply their edge against the longitudinal guide rail and will cause, during the movement of the cuts, the squareness of each of them , which will have the effect of placing the blanks in a position such that their respective fold lines will be perfectly parallel to the longitudinal axis of the machine.
- the rollers of each of the upper and lower beams are driven by means of a flat belt transmitting its movement to said rollers by means of pulleys mounted on the axes of each of the rollers of the upper and lower beams.
- the staggered arrangement of the rollers allows, therefore, a vertical displacement of the upper beam, so as to be able to take into account the thickness of the cuts to be worked, without pinching the drive belt between two pulleys, which would be the case if the staggered arrangement was not chosen.
- the solution which consists in placing the rollers of the rectifier on upper and lower beams, inclined with respect to the longitudinal axis of the machine, involves providing, at the entrance of the rectifier, a clearance of approximately 2 millimeters between the edge of the cutout and the longitudinal guide rail, so that at the outlet of the rectifier, the edge of the cutout is applied against the longitudinal rail and, therefore, the fold lines of the successive cutouts are always at the same position relative to the subsequent folding members. This creates a "funnel" effect which, in some cases, applies the edge of the cut too strongly against the longitudinal guide rail and causes its deterioration.
- the clearance left at the entrance of the rectifier between the edge of the cutout and the longitudinal guide rail requires precise transverse adjustment of the rectifier with respect to the insertion members and, as this clearance can be variable depending on of the quality of the cuts to be worked, it is necessary to make this adjustment manually, thereby excluding any automation of the lateral adjustment of the various parts of the machine.
- the object of the present invention is to provide a device for aligning box cutouts, which eliminates the aforementioned drawbacks, improves the times used for the adjustment of the successive members of the folder-gluer and allows its optimal automation.
- the device for aligning box cutouts shown in FIG. 1 comprises an upper rectification member 1 and a lower rectification member 2.
- the upper rectification member 1 comprises a fixed spar 3 connected to a bracket 4 [see fig. 2] of the folder-gluer using two stirrups 5 fixed, at one of their ends, by means of the hexagon screws 7, in the lower part of an adjustment rod 6 held in a support 8 mounted using the screws 9 against one of the faces of the bracket 4 [see Figures 2 and 3].
- the stirrup 5 is fixed, at its other end, against one of the lateral faces of the fixed spar 3 by means of the screws 10.
- the locking of the adjustment rod 6 is obtained using a stud 11 having a width substantially smaller than that of the support 8 allowing, when tightening the screws 12, to cause the vertical locking of the adjustment rod in a desired position [see also Figures 2 and 3].
- the fixed spar 3 comprises a series of bores 13 in which bushings 14, preferably self-lubricating, are driven, intended to receive a swivel 15 serving as a pivot point for the supports 16 of the pivoting levers 17.
- the fixed spar 3 also includes holes 18 through which the guide rods 19 of the springs 20 pass. These guide rods 19 are fixed, at one of their ends, in a ramp 21 using an elastic pin 22 [see also FIG. 4 ].
- each of the guide rods 19 has a bearing surface 23 on which the upper part of the spring 20 is guided while its lower part is supported in a countersink 24 arranged in the pivoting lever 17.
- the ramp 21 is secured, by its ends to the fixed spar 3 by means of a threaded adjustment rod 25 screwed at one of its ends into the fixed spar 3, while its other end is provided with two knurled chickens 26 intended to adjust the pressure of the upper rectifying members 1 on the box cutout.
- the pressure of the rectifying members is increased or released upper 1 on the box cutout, said pressure being therefore ensured, on the one hand, by the springs 20 and, on the other hand, by the compression springs 27.
- the pivoting levers 17 are carried by an axis 29 located in the support 16, so that their pivoting occurs in a vertical plane.
- This axis 29 is constituted by a threaded sleeve 30 held in the support 16, using a screw 31 screwed at one of its ends and by a flexible member 32 screwed at its other end.
- the flexible member 32 is preferably made up of a rubber cylinder 33 to which a threaded rod 34 is attached, on the one hand, and a threaded ring 35, on the other hand.
- the lower end of the pivoting lever 17 is equipped with a roller 36 consisting of a ball bearing fixed to the lever by means of a screw 37 and a nut 38. In order to improve the adhesion of the roller 36 on the cutout, it could easily be imagine covering it with a material such as rubber.
- the support 16 is, on the other hand, arranged so as to leave a passage 39 for the spring 20.
- This passage 39 is in fact a bore of a diameter large enough so that its walls do not touch the spring during pivoting in the horizontal plane of the support 16.
- Each flexible member 32, screwed to the end of the threaded sleeve 30, is connected to a movable angle iron 40, in a horizontal plane relative to the fixed spar 3, by a, screw 66 engaging in the threaded ring 35.
- This angle iron 40 is provided with two tabs 41 and 42 through which a threaded rod 43, respectively 44 passes.
- Each of these threaded rods 43 and 44 is screwed through the fixed spar 3 and secured in position using a nut 45, respectively 46.
- Knurled chickens 47 and 48 are mounted on the threaded rod 43 or 44, so as to allow the displacement, in the horizontal plane, of the angle iron 40.
- Washers 49 and 50 ensure good contact between the tab 41 or 42 and the knurled chickens 47 and 48.
- a transport device 51 swivel and adjustable in pressure, is provided at the inlet of the upper 1 and lower 2 grinding members This device, being accessory and in fact intended to ensure the transport of the cutout of the introduction members to the alignment device, will not be described in more detail.
- the lower rectifying members 2 are arranged in alignment with the upper rectifying members 1. They consist of an endless belt 52 driven, passing around a pulley 53 and being supported by a series of rollers 54 whose axes are aligned with the axes of the rollers 36 of the upper rectifying members 1.
- These rollers 54 for supporting the endless belt 52 are advantageously produced by using two ball bearings placed side by side between two side cheeks 55 and 56. One of these two side cheeks 55 or 56 being fixed to the lower spar 57 of the folder-gluer using screws 58.
- the bracket 4 is, on the other hand, fixed by means of an arm 59 to said lower beam 57.
- the longitudinal alignment means 60 comprise a longitudinal guide rail 61 welded to two supports 62 arranged so that the assembly thus formed can be moved in a horizontal plane.
- the longitudinal alignment means 60 are locked in position by the screw 63 passing through a slot 64 arranged in the supports 62.
- the tightening of the screw 63 makes it possible to block the longitudinal alignment means 60 on the arms 59 each supporting a bracket 4.
- the stroke which the longitudinal alignment means 60 can perform is shown in dashed lines.
- Figure 5 is a view along A of Figure 4 showing one of the elements of the upper rectifying members 1 in the neutral position.
- the pivoting lever 17 and, consequently, the roller 36 are in a perfectly parallel position with respect to the longitudinal axis of the folder-gluer, and the cutouts moving in the direction indicated by the arrow 65 will not undergo no lateral displacement.
- FIG. 6 is a view along A of FIG. 4 showing one of the elements of the upper rectifying members 1 in the working position, that is to say in the position which it occupies when it is desired to align the successive box cuts against the face of the longitudinal guide rail 61.
- the angle 40 using knurled chickens 47 and 48 [see fig. 2]. This movement will rotate the support 16 around its pin 15 and deform the flexible member 32. It will therefore be possible to very precisely choose the angle that one wishes to give to the support 16 depending on the correction to be made and quality of the box cut to work. This will control the force of application of the edges of the cutouts against the longitudinal guide rail 61.
- a device such as that which we have just described thus has the advantage of reducing the adjustment times of the folder-gluer in the event of a change of work, while being able to be used, indifferently and without dismantling, as a rectifier or as simple transport device for box cutouts.
