Definitions

  • the packaging in question is primarily small packages made of cigarette packs, i.e. so-called cigarette packs. Up to 20 or 25 packs of cigarettes are combined into a stick by a wrapper.
  • the wrapper can consist of paper, thin cardboard or a foil material.
  • each pack of cigarettes with a tax code, for example, immediately before being sold to end users.
  • the mark usually a mark, number, coat of arms or the like applied by stamping, is to be affixed to a part of the cigarette pack, namely to the outer wrapping thereof. This regulation creates difficulties when cigarette packs are dispensed as sticks.
  • EP-A-0 122 524 discloses a package of the type mentioned in the introduction, in which two partial bars are formed by corresponding partial envelopes. In the area of a narrow long side, the partial bars are not covered by the covering. Narrow ends of the cigarette packs are exposed.
  • US-A-2 895 601 shows a simple cigarette stick with a largely open narrow long side, over which several adhesive strips are applied transversely.
  • the invention is based on the object of designing a packaging of the type mentioned in such a way that the adjacent partial bars can be closed in the simplest possible manner and at the same time the required markings, marks or the like on the individual cigarettes without changing the packaging, in particular without opening them -Packages can be attached.
  • the packaging according to the invention is characterized in that at least the cigarette packs each have a partial rod in the region of the bottom walls are connected to one another and to the covering which is open in this area by means of a common adhesive film strip.
  • the packaging is designed such that the covering receiving the cigarette packs remains partially open, in particular in the region of the bottom walls of the cigarette packs.
  • the legally required markings on the cigarette packs are to be attached here.
  • strip-shaped foils are attached in the area of the open sides of the wrapper, which are glued on the one hand to the exposed surfaces - bottom walls - of the cigarette packs and on the other hand to the wrapper.
  • the markings are attached to the film that is bonded to each pack of cigarettes.
  • the packaging is put into use, the film is cut in the area between the individual cigarette packs, in particular by means of a correspondingly provided perforation or other material weakening as a predetermined dividing line. Individual sections of the film provided with the marking thus remain permanently on each pack of cigarettes.
  • a packaging or cigarette stick designed in this way can be provided with the necessary marking, for example in a wholesale company or at a retailer, without requiring any special manipulations on the packaging.
  • the inventive design of the packaging also has the advantage of simple manufacture and the saving of material for the wrapping. Furthermore, the open sides of the wrapper reveal the contents of the pack, especially when using a transparent film as a closure for the open sides.
  • the packaging preferably consists of two partial wrappings which are detachably connected to one another in such a way that open sides, in particular open long sides, lie next to one another. These are then alternatively closed by a common, appropriately sized film strip or by individual strips assigned to each partial rod. The required markings are attached to the cigarette packs of the complete packaging together or simultaneously. After that, the packaging can be broken down into partial bars and handed over.
  • the exemplary embodiments of a packaging shown in the drawings relate to so-called rods 20 for holding a plurality of small packs, in the present case cigarette packs 21.
  • a group of cigarette packs 21 lying next to one another is surrounded by a wrapping 22 made of paper, cardboard or film material.
  • each rod 20 consists of ten cigarette packs 21. These are arranged in two pack rows 23, 24 side by side and one above the other in such a way that narrow side surfaces 25 of adjacent cigarette packs 21 abut one another.
  • the cigarette packs 21 are oriented with their longitudinal axis transverse to the longitudinal extent of the rod 20. End walls 26 and bottom walls 27 are thus exposed without touching adjacent cigarette packs 21.
  • the envelope 22 is arranged so that one side thereof, namely a long side 28, is open. In the area of this open longitudinal side 28 of the wrapper 22, the bottom walls 27 of the cigarette packs 21 lie side by side. Accordingly, these are exposed within the envelope 22.
  • a sealing strip is attached in the region of the open longitudinal side 28, namely from an adhesive, in particular self-adhesive film. This is guided in the form of a film strip 29 over the open longitudinal side 28 of the wrapper 22 with (full-surface) gluing to the bottom walls 27 of the cigarette packs 21. These are connected to one another and also to the wrapper 22.
  • the film strip 29 is dimensioned in the longitudinal direction so that film ends 30 are connected to the outside of the envelope 22, with transverse narrow sides 31 thereof. As a result, the film strip 29 is permanently connected to the casing 22.
  • the width of the film strip 29 is less than the width or height of the rod 20 and also less than the width or height of the cigarette packs 21 arranged next to or above one another.
  • markings 32 can be made in the area of each cigarette pack 21, in particular by means of a movable stamp member, along which the rod 20 with the film strip 29 is moved.
  • the film strip 29 can be separated into individual film pieces 33, which are assigned to each cigarette pack 21 and adhere to the bottom wall 27.
  • the film strip 29 is provided with lines of weakness in the area between the cigarette packs 21.
  • the common film strip 29 is provided with a longitudinal perforation 34 and transverse perforations 35. The aforementioned perforations 34 and 35 each extend in the area of abutting surfaces between adjacent packs of cigarettes 21.
  • the open longitudinal side 28 of the casing 22 is closed by two individual strips 36, 37 made of (self-) adhesive film.
  • the individual strips 36, 37 here have a smaller width than the height or width of the cigarette packs 21.
  • the individual strips 36, 37 run at a distance from one another.
  • Strip ends 38, 39 are connected to the narrow sides 31 of the rod 20.
  • a transverse perforation 40 is provided in the individual strips 36, 37 to form pieces of film 33 on each bottom wall 27 of the cigarette packs 21.
  • Each rod 20 here consists of two partial rods 41, 42. These in turn are provided with a separate partial covering 43, 44, each with an open longitudinal side 28.
  • the partial rods 41, 42 are detachably connected to one another.
  • the partial rods 41 42 are formed from a common blank (FIG. 5), the partial blanks 45, 46 of which are connected to one another by a perforation fold line 47.
  • glue points 48 are attached in the region of mutually facing inner cover walls 49 of the partial envelopes 43, 44.
  • the above-mentioned top walls 49 lie against one another in the case of complete “double rods” and are detachably (additionally) connected to one another by the glue points 48.
  • the partial blanks 45, 46 which are connected to one another via the perforation folding line 47 have surface areas for forming longitudinal side walls 50 and the narrow sides 31.
  • the latter are formed by folding tabs that partially overlap one another, namely by inner trapezoidal inner tabs 51 in the area of the inner top walls 49, triangular inner tabs 52 in the area of the narrow longitudinal side walls 50 and rectangular flaps 53 in the area of outer top walls 54 is achieved that they do not overlap each other in the folded position (Fig. 7), but lie next to each other in one plane.
  • the inner tabs 51 and 52 are covered by the outer tab 53 forming the full narrow side 31. This is connected to the inner tabs 51 and 52 by gluing.
  • the "double rod” thus formed can be delivered to the consumer as a unit. However, it can also be separated into the two partial rods 41, 42, as shown in FIG. 7 or in FIGS. 11 and 12. First of all, the two partial bars 41, 42 on the side of the film strip 29 or the individual strips 36, 37 are lifted off one another, while eliminating any glue that may be present. The perforation line 47 can then be severed by breaking the partial bars 41, 42 around an edge opposite the perforation line 47 (FIG. 11). Each partial bar 41, 42 is now an independently tradable unit.
