Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a crushing doctor with improved properties for the treatment of web-like material, as is preferably used in cross-cutting machines, in order to eliminate the curl of the web.
  • Paper stored in rolls shows, with increasing storage time, a tendency to maintain the curvature in the running direction that it had in the roll even after the cross-cutting process in the sheet.
  • the tendency of the sheets of paper to warp therefore also increases as the roll diameter becomes smaller.
  • the thickness and structure of the web also have an influence. Cartons maintain a much stronger tendency to warp than paper.
  • the cross cutters for paper and cardboard webs are equipped with so-called crushing blades.
  • These are usually thin, hard rods, which are arranged like guide rollers for the paper web and are wrapped by it to a part of its circumference.
  • the rods can be rotated. With solid bars, grinding marks on such papers are inevitable.
  • the sizing effect of the doctor rod opposite to the tendency of the paper to warp is greater, the smaller its diameter and the greater the wrap through the paper web.
  • the tension with which the web is guided around the rod is also influential. The most intense effect would therefore be a sharp edge around which the web would be guided with the highest possible tension.
  • such an aid is unusable because of the unavoidable damage to the paper surface and the excessive sizing effect which leads to warping in the opposite direction.
  • thin, rotatable doctor blades are therefore customary as web finishing tools, which have diameters of 10 to 20 mm.
  • the rod is supported, in addition to roller bearings at the ends of the rod, by means of two rows of staggered rollers which are fastened on a rigid support (FIG. 1).
  • a disadvantage of this embodiment is that the embedding of the rod between the rollers allows little more than 90 ° wrap through the web, so the finishing effect is basically only moderate.
  • the surface of the rod is changed by the rollers so that streaking occurs on the surfaces of sensitive papers. The formation of the strips takes place particularly under the action of vibrations and the resulting impact of the rod on the rollers due to the very high speeds of the rod driven by the paper web. The vibrations can also cause the rod to pop out of its storage. Often the cause of these phenomena is the high wear rate of the roller bearings.
  • DE-B-1927376 describes a concept of a crushing doctor which offers greater operational reliability compared to the previously known constructions by preventing the tendency of the bars to vibrate and impact. This is done by the action of magnets on the rod, which are arranged alternately with bearing elements of the versions described above, preferably rollers.
  • magnets on the rod which are arranged alternately with bearing elements of the versions described above, preferably rollers.
  • a squeegee device has the disadvantage of a separate arrangement of damping and bearing elements, which still means There is banding on the paper surface.
  • the damping of the Rod vibrations due to magnetic action are also associated with a braking of the rod rotation, so that the increased slippage results in a greater friction which affects the paper surface.
  • a disadvantage of this rod storage is the low possible wrap; if, as suggested for light paper, thinner bars are used, it becomes even smaller.
  • This publication also contains a proposal for the embodiment of a crushing doctor in which the rod is supported by means of trough-shaped sliding bearings which are arranged alternately with magnets which prevent the doctor rod from jumping out of the bearing.
  • Sintered bronze is used as the bearing metal, through which an air film between the rod and the bearing metal is to be generated by means of compressed air supply through openings in the bearing housing.
  • this construction has not been introduced in practice.
  • the present invention has for its object to provide a crushing doctor device, which ensures an uncomplicated, reliable and effective mode of operation while maintaining the original surface aspect of the paper and avoids the disadvantages of the known embodiments.
  • a trough-shaped rod bearing made of bronze was used, which had holes in its base for the air supply and a groove that allowed air to be distributed in the longitudinal direction of the rod.
  • this rod deposit proved unsuitable for higher speeds.
  • An improvement in the running behavior of the rod by changing the air pressure was only possible to a small extent.
  • FIG. 2a / b / c The structure of the devices according to the invention is illustrated in FIG. 2a / b / c.
  • Figure 2a shows the device according to the invention in longitudinal section.
  • Figure 2 b shows the design of the storage in the cutout, and
  • Figure 2 c is a cross section through the device.
  • the doctor rod (1) made of steel lies in the trough-shaped bearing (2) which extends over its entire useful length and which encloses it at an angle of approximately 150 °.
  • the bearing (2) is held in the operating position by means of the rigid box-shaped supporting body (4), which is closed on all sides, and is supplied with compressed air via the bores (3).
  • the box-shaped support body (4) is connected to a compressed air source via the pipeline (5).
  • the arrangement of the device according to the invention in a cross cutting machine takes place in a known manner between two web guide rollers.
  • the wrapping of the doctor rod through the paper web - and thus its smoothing effect - can be changed by shifting in a direction perpendicular to the plane defined by the parallel axes of the two guide rollers (FIG. 3).
  • axial bearings (6) In order to generate the pretension of the doctor rod, its ends are inserted in guide bushes (8) which are firmly connected to them and these in turn are easily displaceable in axial bearings (6), preferably angular contact ball bearings.
  • the axial bearings (6) are fixed in the bearing housings (12) by means of circlips (11), which are attached to the ends of the box-shaped support body (4).
  • the ends of the doctor rod (1) with the guide bushings (8) on them protrude outwards beyond the axial bearings (6) in order to be able to accommodate the coil springs (7), which are pressed against the inner ring by means of the clamping nuts (9) the axial bearing (6) make the preload adjustable as required.
  • the mode of operation of a device according to the invention is illustrated by determining the operating conditions in an embodiment for the finishing of art paper of 90 to 250 g / m 2 in a cross cutter.
  • Paper art print 135 g / m2 Paper web width: 900 mm Web tension: 500-550 N
  • the device according to the invention is thus an aid for achieving perfectly flat paper formats, with improved effects compared to the prior art, in particular due to higher operational reliability through wear-resistant storage, ease of movement, and the risk of streaking on the paper, as is known in the case of doctor blade deposits with discrete support areas are the greatest possible usability of the rod doctor circumference for the web wrapping and accordingly a wide range of smoothing effects.
  • the possibility of arranging the device above or below horizontal or with any incline web trains is advantageous, which is made possible by the storage of the doctor rod under tension used.
