Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a plug-in machine according to the preamble of claim 1.
  • each pocket has a spreading element which extends between the two pocket walls and can be displaced parallel between them in the form of a separating sword.
  • This sword is used to open the main product at a predetermined point and the distance to the first pocket wall must be set accordingly. This requirement can only be met if the bags are dimensionally stable and precisely manufactured. If the endless path is very long with this inserting machine, that is to say that it is provided with a large number of pockets, the distance between the separating sword and the first pocket wall must be adjusted for each individual pocket when the thickness of the main product changes. The work required and the associated loss of time for the machine are large. In addition, this solution requires a great deal of design effort with a corresponding cost sequence.
  • the object of the present invention is to improve a plug-in machine of this type in such a way that the setting time of the machine for a new main product is significantly shorter with less design effort.
  • the requirement must also be met if the inserting machine is comparatively large, that is to say equipped with many pockets.
  • the inserting machine shown in the drawing has two parallel, endless chains 1, 2, between which a number of pockets 3 corresponding to the chain pitch are inserted.
  • the chains 1, 2 guide the pockets 3 along an endless path on which a main product insertion station 4, an opening station 5, an insert station 6 and a removal station 7 are arranged one after the other.
  • the opening station 5 of this collating machine is described below. It essentially has a twin sprocket 8 on which the means for opening the printed sheets located in the pockets 3 are present and which is mounted in a stand 10 so that it can be driven by a motor 9.
  • the chains 1, 2 are guided via a twin sprocket 8, which is gearingly connected to a motor 9 and is rotatably mounted in a stand 10.
  • the chains 1, 2 are provided with laterally projecting axes 11.
  • On the chain links is opposite each other one guide roller 12 each freely rotatable (Fig. 4).
  • the chains 1, 2 are followed by lateral guides 13 in which rollers 12 are guided.
  • Pocket carriers 14, 15 with pockets 3 attached to them are fixedly connected to the axes 11.
  • Two bearing ribs 16, in which a pivot shaft 17 is rotatably mounted, are also attached to each pocket carrier 15.
  • the pivot shaft 17 carries a hold-down device 18 and at the other end a pivot lever 19 with a cam roller 20, which cooperates with a stationary control cam, not shown, to hold the hold-down device 18 out of its closed position (FIG. 3, left) into an open position Position (in Fig. 3, right) to pivot against the action of a return spring 21 (Fig. 2).
  • the right sprocket of the twin sprocket 8 seen in the direction of rotation has the means for opening the printed sheets (main products) inserted in the pockets 3 distributed axially symmetrically about its axis of rotation. These means are distributed over the circumference of the twin sprocket 8 such that each pocket 3, which is located in its area, is assigned such means.
  • the stop 22 has a pivot shaft 24 which carries a pivot lever 25 with a cam roller 26 at the lower end, which cooperates (for actuating the stop 22) with a stationary control cam 27. Furthermore, the pivot shaft 24 is provided with a support arm 28 for a stop head 29. A return spring 30 holds the stop head 29 against the control cam 27.
  • the pivot shaft 24 is rotatably supported in two concentric ring ribs 32 and 33, which are attached to the inside of the right sprocket.
  • the counter-holder 23 is in turn mounted with a pivot shaft 34 parallel to the axis of rotation of the twin sprocket 8 in the right sprocket, the pivot shaft 34 being acted upon by the restoring force of a spring 35.
  • a swivel arm 36 projects radially away from the inner end of the swivel shaft 34, the cranked end of which forms an anvil surface 37 (FIG. 3) to the stop head 29.
  • a pivot lever 38 with a cam roller 39 is provided on the outer pivot shaft end, which cooperates with a fixed control cam 40. When the cam roller 39 runs onto the cam 40, the swivel arm 36 is pivoted against the action of the spring 35 against the stop 22 and the counter-holding surface 37 is brought into contact with the stop head 29.
  • An opening sword 41 with its wedge cutting edge 42 is aimed between the stop head 29 and the counter-holding surface 37.
  • the opening sword 41 is axially displaceably mounted in a sleeve 43 fastened to the right sprocket and is under the action of a spring 44, which is shown in FIG dashed lines drawn working position presses. In the rest position, drawn with solid lines, it is forced (against the action of the spring 44) by a fixed control cam 45, which cooperates with a cam roller 46 which is rotatably mounted on the opening sword 41.
  • a fixed alignment plate 47 is attached to the right sprocket, which is opposite a movable push plate 48.
  • the latter is attached to the inner end of a plunger 49 which is axially displaceable in the left sprocket and which carries a cam roller 50 at the outer end.
  • the movement of the push plate 48 is controlled by a return spring 51 and a fixed control cam 52.
  • the inserting machine described works as follows.
  • the pockets 3 are fed to the twin sprocket 8 on the lower run of the chains 1, 2 and are deflected there on a circular path.
  • the cam roller 46 pushes onto the control rail 45 and brings the opening sword 41 into its rest position. It remains there until the opening station 5, where the control rail 45 ends.
  • the pockets 3 are guided past the chain conveyor 53, which is driven in synchronism, in the main product insert 4, the grippers 54 of which each hold a printed sheet 31 and lead to the pockets 3.
  • the grippers 54 By means of a guide plate 55, the printed sheets 31 hanging in the grippers are guided with the fold ahead into the pockets 3 which are open to the outside.
  • the printed sheets 31 are pushed sufficiently far into the pockets 3, they are released by the grippers 54 and fall with their fold ahead onto the bottom of the pockets 3.
  • the pockets 3 filled with a printed sheet then reach the highest point of the twin sprocket 8, they run the cam rollers 26 and 39 in this area on the control rails 27 and 40 assigned to them, whereby the stop head 29 against the lying in the pocket 3 Sheet 31 and the counter-holder 23 is pivoted with its counter-holder surface 37 against the stop head 29.
  • the printed sheet 31 lying in the pocket 3 is thus clamped at its upper corner between the stop head 29 on the one hand and the counter-holding surface 37 on the other hand.
  • the opening sword 41 is then released and swings into the working position under the action of the spring 44.
  • the gripper 56 approach the pockets 3 isochronously. When passing through the point closest to the pockets 3, the grippers 56 release the inserts 57 so that they fall into the printed sheet lying in the pocket (which forms the main product). At the removal station 7, the complete printed products are removed from the pockets 3 one after the other.
  • the edge 42 of the opening sword 41 is to be aligned with the center of the printed sheet (main product) clamped between the stop 22 and the counter-holder 23.
  • the thickness of daily newspapers can change from day to day.
  • all sleeves 43 are attached to an annular disk 58, which is detachably and securely connected to the right sprocket.
  • the sleeves 43 protrude through openings 59 in the right sprocket, the diameter of which is substantially larger than the outer diameter of the sleeve 43. If the washer 58 is loosened, it can be rotated within the scope of this difference in diameter about the axis of rotation of the twin sprocket 8 relative to the latter and be fixed again.
  • All of the opening swords 41 thus change their position relative to the pocket 3 assigned to them. If the opening swords 41 are now to be adjusted to the center of a new main product, it is sufficient to loosen the ring disk 58, center a single sword and fix the ring disk 58 again. The required response time to a new product on a inserting machine can thus be reduced to a small fraction of the previous effort.
  • Additional opening stations 5 and insert insertion stations 6 can be present between the insert insertion station 6 and the removal station 7. These further opening and inserting stations are of the same design as those described (5, 6).
