Definitions

  • the invention relates to a method according to the preamble of patent claim 1.
  • the printing sheets are fed along the latter by means of several feed conveyors, the feed conveyors opening onto the collecting conveyor being spaced apart from one another have an endlessly revolving traction member, controlled grippers, which are set up to grasp the printed sheets at their fold and which, at least in the delivery area, run essentially in the same direction as the conveying device of the collecting conveyor, which in turn has a number in succession and at right angles to it Direction of delivery arranged saddles for receiving the printed sheet is equipped.
  • the printing sheets are placed on the receiving saddles of the collecting conveyor by means of one below the Feed conveyor arranged approximately in parallel, each having in the delivery area a conveyor belt rotating at a higher circulation speed in order to separate the trailing part of the printed sheets from the other part, the conveyor belt with the higher circulation speed being parallel to the delivery region of the feed conveyor and with the same Circumferential speed revolving gripper belt is connected, the controlled grippers of which are at the same distance from one another as the grippers of the feed conveyors and are intended to hold the trailing edge of the longer part of the printing sheet until the conveyor belt with higher peripheral speed grips the trailing edge of the other part of the printing sheet and has moved.
  • DE-A-36 03 285 makes use of a so-called collating machine with a collecting chain and along this arranged feeders, which is designed for collecting and stitching from a single, fixedly arranged collecting chain supplied, straddling printed sheets.
  • this machine has a gripper drum which grips the stacked printed sheets on the fold and which the printed sheets on a first conveying section of the conveying path leading from the stack to the collecting chain for the purpose of later opening a turning or. Reversing process undergoes and folds against a stop where they are released by the gripper drum.
  • the printed sheets from this briefly occurring standstill position in which their open side is directed downwards, are gripped on a second conveying section by a spreading device formed from two spreading drums on the side parts of the printed sheets and simultaneously opened and placed on the collecting chain. Captured by drivers, the printed sheets on the collection chain are conveyed approximately at right angles to the direction in which they are picked up. There are therefore two changes of direction on the conveyor path to the stapling station, each of which is associated with a brief stoppage of the printed sheets.
  • the object of the invention is therefore to create a method for collecting and then stapling printed sheets, with which the processing power can be increased noticeably in a simple manner and which allows a reliable production process.
  • this object is achieved according to the characterizing part of patent claim 1. This will make it possible to control the flow of the printed products to be designed continuously or to a large extent to exclude the changes of direction that were previously necessary on the transport route or collection route of the printed products.
  • printed sheets which have an overlap on the open side, the printed sheet advantageously lying in the receiving pocket such that the lower part of the two-part printed sheet has the overlap.
  • the receiving pockets Due to the locomotion of the receiving pockets, it is expedient if the latter are loaded approximately perpendicular to the conveying direction above a horizontal plane running through the axis of rotation or a circumferential axis. Instead of a drive axis in which the receiving pockets form approximately circular orbits, it would be possible to have the receiving pockets revolve around several or at least two spaced axes.
  • a device with a rotating conveying device consisting of a plurality of receiving rungs, which are arranged at intervals at right angles to the conveying direction of the printed products and fastened to traction elements, and with a stapling device provided in front of the conveying end of the conveying device, has been found to be suitable for carrying out the method according to the invention, which is characterized in that the Conveyor device is preceded by a superordinate conveying device formed from receiving pockets that circulate in the same direction, approximately perpendicular to the direction of conveyance, the receiving pockets distributed around the circumference are controllable in the open or closed position and are provided at the access opening with an outer stop of a removal device that retains the printed sheet in the closed receiving pocket.
  • Such an embodiment allows a continuous flow of conveyance without having to redirect or turn the printed sheets around their own axes. Thanks to the design and arrangement of the conveyor element, the transport of the printed sheets can be carried out - under narrow guidance - without an additional driving force acting on the printed sheets from the feed point to the support on the receiving rungs of the downstream conveyor.
  • the conveying element is like a wheel-like structure which is designed with a hub rotating about an approximately horizontal axis.
  • an inner stop is provided at the end of the receiving pocket facing away from the access opening, which determines the immersion depth of a printed sheet when loading the conveying member.
  • the receiving pockets can be made from a stationary and be formed at the inner end about a side wall pivotable parallel to the axis of rotation of the conveying member.
  • the pivotable side walls can advantageously be moved into the closed position of the receiving pockets by means of an energy store, for example by means of a spring.
  • Each removal device of a receiving pocket advantageously has a plurality of disks which are fastened laterally next to one another on a drive shaft arranged parallel to the axis of rotation of the conveying member and which allow a compact design.
  • the latter preferably have a recess which is approximately flush with the stationary side wall of the receiving pockets, so that a removal device which is effective over the entire width of the printed sheet is produced.
  • the latter can be formed from suction pads of the known type or by mechanical gripping devices.
  • a contact surface formed by the recess on the circumference of the disks, which forms the one-sided clamping surface of a clamping device of a clamping pliers which can be driven with this proves to be a particularly simple means for removal.
  • a force accumulator is suitable as the actuating means, with which the clamping device of the clamping pliers can be moved into the clamping position is, whereas the drive shafts of the disks are connected to a lever gear.
  • a drive lever which is actuated by a control cam and drives a toothed segment engaging on the drive shaft.
  • the drive shaft of the removal device can be returned to the starting position with the force of a storage device, for example spring force.
  • a storage device for example spring force.
  • a form-fitting operation would also be suitable, as is the case here.
  • the free end of the movable side wall is formed in the circumferential area in such a way that the removal of the printed sheets from the receiving pockets takes place under the influence of a guide, in that a freely rotatable counter-roller is assigned to one disk of the removal device, which is spaced from the supporting surface in the printed sheet receiving position, so that the printed sheets can slide freely to the outer stop, and the printed sheets are clamped between the circumference of the disks and the counter roller during removal.
  • the counter rollers with the closing force of the pivotable side wall, generated by spring force, are applied to the peripheral surface of the disks, so that the printed sheets are closely guided.
  • the distance between the stationary and pivotable side wall of the receiving pockets is designed to be adjustable and lockable.
  • FIG. 1 shows a device for carrying out the method according to the invention for collecting or collating and then stapling overprinted printed products which, prior to stapling, have a plurality of receiving rungs 2 which form an endless conveyor device 1 and are arranged at intervals one behind the other transversely to the direction of transport and spread out to astride Hang up to be fed.
  • the receiving rungs 2 are fastened at regular intervals between chain-like links of two parallel, endless traction elements 3 rotating around two spaced axes. The loading of the receiving rungs 2 follows from above on the upper run of the conveyor 1.
  • the printed sheets are fed individually from the side or above with the fold ahead, approximately perpendicularly to the conveying direction, arranged receiving pockets 4, which are driven about an approximately horizontal axis and in the same direction above the conveying device 1, the printed sheets being advanced with the overlap due to the circular motion in the receiving pockets at an outer stop 5 and then gripped at the fold or removed from the receiving pocket 4, and while the further conveying spread their side parts and placed on an associated rung 2 of the conveyor 1.
  • the arrows directed from the outside onto the circumference of the conveying element 11 indicate possibilities of the loading points.
  • the receiving pockets are closed after loading.
  • the subsequent removal of the printed sheets 6 from the receiving pockets 4 can take place at the earliest when the overlap has reached an outer stop 5.
  • a plurality of receiving pockets 4 are arranged above the conveying device 1 described on the circumference between two approximately circular hub disks 9 of an axis of rotation 10 of a conveying element 11 parallel to the receiving rungs 2.
  • the receiving pockets 4 extend to a width which is determined by the distance between the hub disks 9.
  • the receiving pockets 4, which are oriented approximately radially to the axis of rotation 10, are provided with an angled leg 13, which forms the pocket bottom or an inner stop 15, of the one stationary side wall 14 of a receiving pocket 4.
  • this stationary side wall 14 is arranged in the region of the conveying member 11 which is effective for conveying, below a movable side wall 16 belonging to the same receiving pocket 4.
  • This side wall 16 which can be pivoted about a pivot axis 17 parallel to the axis of rotation 10 in the open and closed positions, has a control lever 18 which projects approximately perpendicularly in the region of the pivot axis 17, the free end of which controls the opening movement of the movable side wall 16 against a stationary control track 19 provided for this purpose the Closing position is achieved by a spring acting on the movable side wall 16.
  • the distance between the two side walls 14, 16 in the closed state of the receiving pocket 4 can be determined by a device provided for this purpose.
  • the receiving pocket 4 can maintain its closed position until it is loaded further, or after a printed sheet 6 with both side parts has reached the position of the receiving rung 2 assigned to it, can be opened again for a short time.
  • the receiving pockets 4 are closed approximately at the level of a horizontal plane through the axis of rotation 10.
  • the closing of the receiving pockets 4 is to be carried out as soon as possible after the loading, especially since additional air penetrates into the opened receiving pocket 4 due to a certain fan action of the conveying member 11, which could apply the printing sheet 6 to the adjacent movable side wall 16 or keep it in a state of suspension, so that one Delay in shifting the printed sheets to the outer stop 5 occurs.
  • the control track 19 is designed to be adjustable and lockable in a manner adapted to the loading point in the vicinity of the axis of rotation 10.
  • the processing of the printed sheets 6 in the receiving pockets 4 could be carried out in an analogous manner even with the stationary side wall 16 trailing in the direction of rotation.
  • each one Receiving pocket 4 is assigned.
  • This removal device 20 consists of a drive shaft 21 arranged parallel to the axis of rotation 10 of the conveying member 11 between the hub disks 9, on which a plurality of disks 22 fastened next to one another at intervals are provided, which over the width forms supports for the printing sheets 6 to be removed from the receiving pockets 4.
  • the individual disks 22 are provided on the circumference with a recess 23 which has a support surface 24 which is aligned with the stationary side wall 14 of the receiving pockets 4.
  • the printed sheet 6 lies with its overlap 7 facing the outer stop 5 on the support surface 24 and can be gripped from there by means of a clamping device 25.
  • This clamping device 25 forms with the support surface 24 a clamping pliers 26 which can be opened by a stationary control member 27 by means of lever 36 and closed by spring force.
  • the clamping device 25 is designed like a lever and is pivotably mounted on the disks 22.
  • the clamping end of the clamping device 25 is located - as shown in Figure 1 - at the latest when loading the associated receiving pocket 4 in the raised position above the support surface 24 of each disc 22 of a removal device 20 and remains in this position at least until the time when the printed sheet 6 strikes the outer stop 5 (see Figures 1 and 2).
  • the clamping tongs 26 open with the help of a further form-fitting control disk 35 which acts on the inside of a hub disk 9 - preferably on the opposite side or opposite hub disk 9 of the lever 35 - is fixed and takes place in cooperation with the rotational movement of the drive shaft 21, by lifting the clamping device 25 from the support surface 24.
  • Another lever 37 provides for the transmission of the irregularity of the control disk 35.
  • a lever gear 29 influenced by a stationary control curve 28 is used as a means for this purpose, the control curve 28 at least having a length that is necessary to completely remove a printed sheet 6 via the disks 22 from the receiving pockets 4.
