Definitions

  • the invention relates to a center cutter according to the preamble of claim 1.
  • the cutting jaws are each mounted on a bolt.
  • the jaw ends on the handle leg articulate to handle legs, which are supported one above the other by a commercial bolt.
  • the handle legs form double levers.
  • the shorter lever engages the end of the cutting jaws.
  • Corresponding configurations are relatively complex.
  • the cutting jaws are supported or tied to one another by tabs and a tooth space intervention. From DE-OS 34 27 990 it is known on such a bolt cutter to form the shorter lever arm of the handle leg double lever, that is, the handle leg heads, as mutually supporting, pair-acting, cam-like crank parts.
  • the handle leg heads are connected via a cross strap.
  • the latter acts on the end bearing bolts of the handle leg heads. This solution is felt to be even more complex.
  • DE-C-127 895 is known from the prior art. This document discloses a pair of pliers designed as side cutters or front cutters, in which the pliers legs cross without the need for a pivot pin.
  • the object of the invention is to increase the cutting performance with simple means in a generic tool while maintaining the classic crossing overlap, that is, the one-piece design of the handle leg and pliers jaw.
  • the given joint-free crossing of the pliers legs results in an extension of the power arm while maintaining the basic length of the tool in the center cutter.
  • the joint means are laid in the head or cutting area.
  • the non-commercial crossover area of the handle legs can act as a guide surface.
  • the procedure is further such that the cylindrical tooth forming the tooth gap intervention
  • the roller body extends transversely to the wedge-shaped cutting edges in cross section and is received proportionately in a corresponding penetration cavity formed from two hollow sections in the cutting edges, such that there is an approximately right-angled transition between the wading edges of the cutting edges ending directly on the roller body and the walls of the hollow sections is.
  • the penetration cavity formed proportionally in the cutting areas for receiving the roller body can not only be produced in a structurally simple manner (this zone is completely free for processing), but also creates a firm, form-fitting fit due to the increasing enlargement of the supporting surface of the walls for the roller body in the cavity depth Abutment. With increasing closing, which is associated with the occurrence of the cutting forces, this reason, which favors guidance of the roller body, is pressed even more firmly against the lateral surface of the roller body; rather, shear forces causing a jaw shift are absorbed without damage. Last but not least, this is due to the fact that the bevels pass at right angles into the walls of the cavity sections.
  • the handle legs form a throat at hand width distance from the free end of the handle legs, which is at a corresponding distance from the crossover area of the pliers legs, which arched outward from the handle sections extending from this throat run and the free end sections following a second throat take a slightly divergent course. So there are good ergonomic conditions.
  • the invention proposes that the cutting edges pass into the full thickness of the cutting jaws after a jaw tapering step. As a result, the areas of the cutting jaws lying flat against the tabs are significantly wider. The leadership is therefore larger and therefore better. The cutting edges sit practically like strips on the opposite sides of the cutting jaws.
  • the center cutter shown has two handle legs 1, 2, which cross each other in the commercial area, each in a cutting jaw 3, 4.
  • Each handle leg 1, 2 is rotatably supported on a special bearing pin 5 or 6.
  • the latter extend on both sides of the axis of symmetry x-x of the side cutter. They lie on a common transverse plane E-E as well as across the cutting jaw swivel plane.
  • the bearing bolts 5, 6 pass through cross-section-adapted through bores of two tabs 7.
  • These paired plate tabs which extend in the pivoting plane of the cutting jaws 3, 4 or handle legs 1, 2, grasp the transition region between the cutting jaws 3, 4 and handle legs 1, 2.
  • bearing bolts 5, 6 they have heads on the one hand and rivets on the other hand.
  • the heads are frustoconical in shape, the rivets are rounded.
  • the tabs 7 In the area of the cutting edges 8, 9 of the cutting jaws 3, 4 facing each other, the tabs 7 have a rounded niche 10. The latter has a centering effect on the object to be cut, such as wire.
  • a roller body 11 is embedded between them at the same distance from the bearing bolts 5, 6.
  • the latter forms a kind of tooth space engagement ZL between the cutting jaws 3, 4 and is cylindrical in shape. Its edges are chamfered.
  • the axial length corresponds to the clear distance between the brackets 7 arranged parallel to one another, or more precisely to the thickness of the cutting jaws 3, 4 measured in this direction.
  • the cylindrical roller body 11 thus extending transversely to the cutting edges 8, 9 is proportionately seated in a corresponding manner two cavity sections I, II of the cutting edges 8, 9 formed penetration cavity 12. Since the cutting edges 8, 9 are wedge-shaped and the If the roller body 11 is cylindrical, the cavity sections I, II have a lenticular wall contour (cf. FIG. 9).
  • the wall of the cavity section I, II increases increasingly until it has its line L of greatest length approximately at the level of the transverse plane EE. From there, the area of the wall decreases again accordingly.
  • this line L lies at least in the cavity sections I, II which form the receptacle of the roller body, at least in the direct connecting line between the central axes yy of the two bearing bolts 5, 6.
  • the roller body 11 even takes this line in the direction of the handle legs 1, 2 exceeding location.
  • the hollow sections I, II in the cutting edges 8, 9 are further assigned such that the roller body 11 partially protrudes beyond the cutting edge of the tab or the bottom of the recess 10 when the side cutter is open.
  • the opening jaws move in the direction of the object to be cut.
  • the roller body which is supported via its end faces on the inner surfaces of the tabs 7, moves back into its full-area axial support position.
  • the chamfered edges prevent any removal. In the open position, approximately half the cross-sectional area of the roller body is exposed.
  • the cutting edges 8, 9 pass over a clear step 13 into the maximum jaw thickness.
  • This jaw taper stage 13 is located on both sides of the cutting jaws 8, 9. The reduction is approximately 50%.
  • the transition into the thicker section of the cutting jaws 3, 4 is rounded concavely and bears the reference number 14.
  • the wedges 8, 9 wedging in connection with the jaw tapering step 13 pass into the blunted bevel 8 'or 9'.
  • the cutting line coincides with the central longitudinal axis x-x of the center cutter on which the roller body moves.
  • the cutting edge angle alpha of the cutting edges 8, 9 is 40 °.
  • the interruption of the cutting flank course according to the gradation 13 brings an area gain for the tab-side guidance of the cutting jaws 3, 4 from the width z. Z corresponds to a little more than the radius of the roller body.
  • the cranked crossing area of the handle legs 1, 2, which is connected behind the tabs 7 on the handle side, is significantly widened compared to the handle and cheek zone, in the interest of large-area guide surfaces 15.
  • the procedure for the formation of the tooth space engagement ZL is such that the roller body 11 is fastened in one of the cavity sections I, II.
  • the attachment can be done by brazing.
  • an embodiment is preferred in such a way that the roller body 11 is assigned to one or the other cutting edge 8, 9, here the cutting edge 9, as an equally forged projection.
  • the protrusion has the shape of a half roller body, divided in the axial view.
  • the supportive outer surface takes into account the need for movement to open the mouth, so it is slightly larger than the said half.
  • FIGS. 10 and 11 is also continued as a penetration line in FIGS. 10 and 11, however, because of the better understanding of the one-piece design, the arc line on the fastening jaw side is omitted.
  • the handle legs 1, 2 form abutment spurs 16 which face each other and which define the closed position of the cutting edges 8, 9.
  • the opening delimitation is formed by sections 8 ⁇ and 9 ⁇ of the cutting jaw parts lying beyond the penetration cavity 12 on the handle leg side.
  • the length ratio of the cutting jaw 3 or 4 to the handle leg 1 or 2 is about 1:10. Half the length of the cutting edge 8 or 9 is omitted on the lever H.
  • Insulation 17 is applied, preferably shrunk, to the weakly corrugated grip legs 1, 2.
  • the said corrugation of the handle legs is such that the handle legs 1, 2 form a groove 18 on the outside at a hand-width distance from the free end of the handle legs.
  • the throat 18 of both handle legs 1, 2 lies on a common transverse plane.
  • the distance between the throat 18 and the free ends of the handle legs is approximately the same as the distance between the deepest point of the throat 18 and the crossover area K. These distance zones are curved outwards, thus giving the overall grip two more bulbous zones.
  • the insulation 17 ends approximately in the middle of the handle section on the pliers head. As can be seen in the drawing, the free end sections take a slightly diverging course following a second outside throat 19 there. All sections merge into one another.
  • the first throat 18 and the overall bulging section adjoining the handle end enable an optimal gripping posture adapted to the ergonomic conditions of the operating hand, with the thumb root embedded in one or the other first throat 18.
  • the four fingers of the operating hand overlap the curved section of the other handle leg. Since the handle sections have a curvature that corresponds to the curvature of the palm of the hand, high actuation forces can be applied.
  • the barrel shape of the handle which is in any case double in the silhouette, even enables two-hand operation, since the handle sections on both sides of the first throat 18 are of the same length, that is to say both are at a hand's width distance.
  • the handle legs 1, 2 are spaced apart such that fingers projecting into their intermediate space 20 are not pinched.
