Definitions

  • the present invention relates to soothers made of silicone rubber, which consist of an outer shell and a filling material.
  • Soothers can be made from a wide variety of materials and different constructions, for which only natural latex was mainly available in the past, while more recently silicone rubber is more preferred (DE-A-3,232,506).
  • silicone rubber is, in particular, the excellent aging behavior, the easy handling when cleaning and sterilizing, the high transparency for better control of cleanliness, the easy processing on injection molding machines and much more.
  • the invention provides a pacifier that combines the good properties of the highly tear-resistant and relatively hard silicone rubber with those of an extremely soft silicone rubber.
  • Soothers for toddlers made of silicone rubber consisting of outer shell and filler material, characterized in that the outer shell consists of a highly tear-resistant silicone rubber with a Shore A hardness of 30 to 60 and this outer shell with a soft silicone rubber with a Shore A hardness of less than 5 is filled and there is a chemical and / or mechanical bond at the interface between the outer shell and filler.
  • the subject of the invention is therefore a suction pad that is particularly hard-wearing based on silicone rubber, whereby, as before, the suction pad is initially manufactured as a hollow body made of highly tear-resistant silicone rubber in the Shore A hardness range from 30 to 60 in wall thicknesses of around 1 mm and then with a special addition-crosslinking silicone rubber extremely low Shore A hardness is filled and caused to vulcanize by the influence of temperature; this creates a simultaneous chemical and mechanical connection to the other rubber.
  • the hollow silicone rubber pacifiers are produced from peroxide-crosslinking or addition-crosslinking silicone rubber by pressing processes or injection molding processes, which can be one-component or two-component rubber.
  • Another advantage of the teat according to the invention is that fillings of this kind, which are neutral in terms of taste, with various flavors, such as the aroma of fruits, milk, chocolate and the like, can be easily added and are thus even better accepted by toddlers; the concentrations of the aroma substances required for this are below 0.5% by weight.
  • the silicone elastomer required for filling is produced on the basis of a vinyl-containing polysiloxane, an organohydrogensiloxane, reinforcing SiO2 fillers and a catalyst, optionally in the presence of a retarder:
  • the vinyl-containing polysiloxane has the general structure wherein R1, R2, R3 and R4 can mean alkyl groups with up to 8 carbon atoms, aryl groups and vinyl groups, but a maximum of 2 vinyl groups are only contained per molecule and n represents the chain length of the polymer, so that viscosities between 0.1 and 300,000 pa's at 20 ° C can be obtained.
  • the organohydrogensiloxane which is used in an amount of 0.1 to 50 parts by weight, based on 100 parts of vinyl-containing polyisloxane, corresponds to the formula wherein R is an alkyl radical with up to 8 carbons, an aryl radical or a fluoroalkyl radical with 3 to 8 carbon atoms, p is greater than or equal to 3 and o + p be varied so that the polymer has a viscosity of 0.005 to 0.1 pa's at 25 ° C.
  • the catalyst is a platinum compound and is used in concentrations of 1 to 250 ppm; the fillers are used in quantities of 0 to 200 parts.
  • the suction cup can be produced in a manner known per se.

Description

    Figure imgb0001
