Definitions

  • the invention relates to a toaster with an electric heating device and the mounting of heating conductors on an insulating material carrier of the electric heating device.
  • the overwhelming majority of the electric heating devices for bread toasters used today have an insulating material carrier on which heating conductor sections are attached on one or both sides.
  • a one-piece, wire-shaped or ribbon-shaped heating conductor is wound onto the insulating material carrier by various methods, a large number of heating conductor sections running over the insulating material carrier being produced.
  • Such a heating device which as a so-called external heating element has heating conductor sections only on its front side, is known, for example, from DE-A1- 25 20 023.
  • a holding strip made of insulating material is fastened to the front of the heating device by means of several eyelets, which runs in the middle of the insulating material carrier from bottom to top and which presses the heating conductor sections against the insulating material carrier.
  • an electric heating device for a toaster in which heating conductor sections are attached on both sides of the insulating material carrier.
  • Such heating devices are required as a so-called central heating for those bread toasters which have more than one input slot for the toast, for example a bread slice, since in these bread toasters one side of two bread slices lying next to one another is toasted by a heating device.
  • the heating device described in DE-A1- 25 13 580 is produced in that a one-piece heating conductor is carried out from front to back through a vertical slot located at the upper end of the insulating material carrier, the half length of which protrudes on both sides of the insulating material carrier. On both lateral boundaries of the insulating material carrier, a number of transverse slots are made at the same height. If the insulating material carrier is now rotated helically around its central axis, the heating conductor is wound around it, and the heating conductor runs as shown in the figure on page 11 of the above-mentioned document. The heating conductor sections cross each other - only separated by the insulating material carrier - on its central axis. In this known heating device, holding strips run on both sides of the insulating material carrier along the central axis and thus over the crossing points.
  • the purpose of attaching holding strips is to fix the heating conductor sections along the holding strip, which expand when heated and thus move both forward in the direction of the roasted material and also bend downward due to gravity, and thereby limit their change in position.
  • the bread toasters used today usually have a slot width of approximately 130 mm, which means that an insulating material carrier of approximately the same dimension is required. Such arrangements allow a freely hanging heating conductor length of about 60 mm each.
  • the heating conductor sections in the area of the holding strip and also beyond their width of about 6 to 12 mm do not reach the operating temperature of about 900 ° C. which is usual today, they only insufficiently brown the roasted material at. This results in the disadvantageous, characteristic browning picture with a wide, significantly less browned, vertical area in the middle of a slice of bread to be roasted.
  • the uneven browning of the toast which occurs as a result of the expansion-related changes in the position of the heating conductor sections is further increased if cool air is sucked in in the lower area of the electric toaster, which, for technical reasons, is concentrated in the lower center of the toasted food in terms of flow and equipment.
  • the cooling that occurs in the bread toaster due to the outside air entering the lower part of its housing due to the chimney effect, which exits when heated via the bread inlet and outlet slots, is particularly effective in the air inlet area, that is, in the lower area of the heating device.
  • the air flow therefore further delays the heating of the roast in this area.
  • the heating device would therefore have to provide more energy for the lower, central area of the roast.
  • the heating device known from DE-A1- 25 20 023 also has significantly closer heating conductor sections in its lower region in the vertical direction than in its upper region (cf. FIG. 1). This is supposed to be in vertical Non-homogeneous cooling direction are compensated so that the heating power actually acting on the roasted material (by radiation and heat conduction) is approximately homogeneous in the vertical direction. It follows that the known bread toaster heater, including the cooling effect, has a substantially homogeneous power density in the vertical direction, while when the heating conductor is fastened with a single holding strip running on the central axis of the insulating material carrier or with staples also lying on this axis in the horizontal direction there is a clearly inhomogeneous power density.
  • An advantageous embodiment of the invention is to design the holding elements - as already known per se from DE-A1- 25 20 023 - as continuous strips (claim 2), which can be attached in pairs and symmetrically to the central axis (claim 3).
  • a particularly effective compensation is achieved if the continuous holding strips in the upper and less strongly cooled area of the insulating material carrier are closer to the central axis than in the lower and more cooled area (claim 4).
  • the holding elements can - as is also known per se from DE-A1- 25 20 023 - also be designed as individual staples which grip around the heating conductor and are pressed into the insulating material carrier (claim 5).
  • a particularly effective compensation can be achieved if the holding elements for lowering the output of the heat conductor area in question are selectively installed in areas of particularly large power peaks in order to reduce the output there (claim 6).
  • the heating device 1 consists of an insulating support 2, in which heating conductor sections 3 are only attached to its front side.
  • the heating conductor sections 3 can be applied to the insulating material carrier 2, for example, by welding a heating conductor of the appropriate length to an electrical connecting lug 7 riveted to the insulating material carrier 2, then leading across the width of the insulating material carrier 2, the heating wire after being wrapped around one of the leads the protrusions 6 formed from the insulating material carrier 2, loops around the next protrusion 6 and finally welds the heating wire to a second electrical connecting lug 7 'and cuts off the protruding part thereof.
  • the second terminal lug 7 ' can, as shown in Fig. 1, also riveted to the front of the insulating substrate 2.
  • the heating conductor sections 3 are held down by two holding strips 4 running at a distance from the center axis X of the insulating material carrier 2.
  • the holding strips 4 in turn are firmly connected to the insulating material carrier 2 by two rivets 5.
  • This attachment of the retaining strips 4 produces the deflection profile shown in FIG. 2 when the heating conductor sections 3 are heated.
  • This deflection profile leads to the heating conductor sections 3 being closer to one to be roasted in the more cooled area directly around the central axis X.
  • Bread slice 9 lie and thus compensate for the cooling effect.
  • the heating conductor sections 3 are located further away from the bread slice 9 in a less-cooled area, which is also desirable in the sense of compensation.
  • the maximum deflection of the heating conductor sections 3 is smaller when held down by two holding strips 4 which are arranged at a distance from the center axis X, which leads to an adjustment of the degree of toasting on the bread slice 9 between the areas of maximum and minimum exposure to the heat output given off by the heating conductor sections 3 .
  • a still further approximation of the heat output acting on the bread slice 9 can be achieved in that the heating conductor sections 3 in the areas of maximum heat output acting on the bread slice 9 are punctually held down by staples which are pressed into the insulating material carrier 2.
  • the heating device shown in FIG. 3 has an insulating material carrier 11 with heat conductor sections 14 and 14 'attached thereon.
  • the heat conductor sections designated by reference numeral 14 are attached to the front of the insulating material carrier 11, while the heat conductor sections designated by 14 'run on the rear side thereof. It is therefore a so-called central heating of a bread toaster, in which 11 heat is to be given off on both sides of the insulating material carrier.
  • the heating device shown can be produced, for example, by the following known method: A one-piece heat conductor dimensioned in terms of its length is guided through a notch 13 in the insulating material carrier 11 such that a piece of the same length protrudes from the insulating material carrier 11 on the front and rear sides thereof.
  • the insulating material carrier 11 is rotated about its central axis X in the direction of rotation indicated by an arrow and simultaneously moved upwards.
  • the insulating material carrier 11 therefore carries out a helical movement about its central axis X.
  • the pitch of the screw is chosen so that the heating conductor runs through slots 12 made on the side of the insulating material carrier 11.
  • the insulating material carrier 11 is particularly thermally stressed locally. Therefore, according to the invention, the heating conductor sections 14, 14, 14, 14, 14, 14, which are necessary for limiting the thermal expansion and the bending caused by gravity, are held by two retaining strips 21 made of insulating material and running at a distance from the central axis X.
  • the two retaining strips 21, which are attached to the front and rear of the insulating material carrier 11, are fastened with rivets 18 and / or with staples 19 pressed into the insulating material carrier 11.
  • the heating conductor sections 14 and 14 ' are always pressed on only on one side of the insulating material carrier 11, as a result of which the latter only experiences local thermal loads on one side. This makes charring unlikely. However, even if the insulating material carrier 11 should still burn through at such a point, no electrical short circuit can occur, since the heating conductor sections 14 and 14 'are not opposite one another at the points of particular local thermal stress.
  • the areas of local thermal stress can be defined so far apart that the risk of the insulating material carrier 11 becoming burned through decreases even further.
