Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to improvements introduced into the construction of facing, walls, walls and partitions made of solid or agglomerated natural wood, specially intended for buildings, and blocks used for these improvements by obtaining with said improvements several and important advantages by using small and massive blocks compared to conventional systems for the same purpose, in which, to raise these walls or partitions we use planks, planks, trunks or blocks of large current dimensions, which are subject to significant deformations which can produce cracks in parts, constraints on the delivery of the joinery and others when they are narrow or long. Furthermore, the standard dimensions of these planks or normal planks always condition the structure of the entire building, that is to say that often it is not possible to execute certain shapes or they are only obtained 'with the use and loss of a large quantity of wood. In short, the essence of these improvements lies in the fact that by using small modules, we do not fight against the movements of the wood but we absorb them be.
By European patent n ° 83.401486.2-2303 the housing construction system using blocks of solid natural wood, with dimensions practically identical to those of the usual masonry brick is known, but said wooden bricks have all their smooth faces, which does not guarantee a good adjustment in the formation of the corresponding rows. The joint must necessarily be secured in this case by the interposition of an adhesive which has been shown not to be effective either to avoid cracks caused by the effect of the environment, such as changes in temperature, humidity and the like. For this execution, a means is therefore required which not only lends solidity to the structure, but automatically compensates for the variations which the wood undergoes and which result in a total leakage of the wall, wall or the like raised with said blocks. or bricks.
In accordance with the improvements of this application, blocks, bricks, or logs of natural or agglomerated solid wood are used, individually, or by composing pieces with groups with them, all having a usually parallelepiped conformation, but, in this case , always fitted with sealing elements on the faces of mutual juxtaposition for the formation of rows, which provide a shingle labyrinthine which radically avoids the creation of slots or interstices allowing the passage of light, air, water and dust despite the deformations that may suffer from said parts because of the hygroscopic nature of the wood. This exact adjustment between the blocks, not only horizontally but also vertically, is due to the duly combined ribs and mortises.
When the type of wood requires it, the pieces are treated beforehand and in general with preservative and protective products such as insecticides, fungicides and waterproofing agents, at the end of this treatment, (normally carried out by impregnation), the block or brick presents a high resistance to the effect of the environment (insects, fungi, humidity, heat and others).
- 1) Solid blocks or bricks, both natural and agglomerated wood are necessarily of small dimensions so as not to be affected by the harmful changes of form mentioned above, even when it is not excluded that one can work with groups of glued blocks or with groups thereof forming panels to make placement easier.
- 2) Said parts are treated normally before their application with suitable products to make them resistant to various biotic and / or abiotic agents.
- 3) On the juxtaposition faces (upper and lower horizontal faces and right and left vertical faces) shingle elements are formed (ribs and mortises) in variable number and arrangement, with the function of creating a labyrinthine setting with jointbreakers by avoiding the passage of light and air. The rows thus obtained are perfectly sealed in all their lines of union. These shingle elements manage, at the same time, to create a perfect bond between the pieces, which, in addition to imparting greater resistance to the facing, make the use of adhesives auxiliary, that is to say not essential for raising.
- 4) The thermal insulation and acoustic damping of the structure are guaranteed.
- 5) The blocks or bricks mentioned can be combined with blocks or bricks made of materials different from natural or agglomerated wood, since their shape can be obtained by molding the material (plastic, metals or randomization, polycarbonates, etc.).
- 6) The system allows to incorporate on the wall, partition and others, hoops or door or window frames, which although stably coupled to the assembly of the walls, allow them to move vertically along the amounts of these frames, which ensures a self-compacting wall or wall according to the variations that it could occur because of it during or after mounting.
To better understand this description, ten drawing pages are attached in which, simply by way of nonlimiting example, a practical case of execution of said construction improvements is presented.
- Figures 1 to 3 show, in perspective, standardized straight blocks (1), with a male end and the opposite female.
- FIGS. 3a and 3b correspond to elevation views of the male or female ends or ends respectively of the block (1) of FIG. 3.
- FIG. 4 represents a block of the same class (2) but provided with male elements at the two ends.
- Figures 5 to 7 are perspective views of blocks (3), usable for the corners. In these blocks, it is observed that the grooves for receiving the cleat which will reach them perpendicularly are encrusted in the upper rib of the part for greater sealing.
- Figure 8 is a plan view of a block (1), similar to those of Figures 1 to 4, but, in this case, provided at both ends of male-female.
- Figure 9 shows a curved block (4).
- FIG. 10 through its lower part and 11 through its upper part are plan views of the corner blocks (3) visible in FIGS. 5 to 7.
- Figures 12 and 13 show two rows of other corner blocks (5) and (6), to be joined to form an obtuse angle.
- Figures 14 and 15 equivalent to the previous ones, but now relating to blocks (5) and (6) for corners at an acute angle.
- Figures 16 and 17 show two rows in the formation of right angle corners using blocks (3). Here we appreciate again as the males of the piece which is encrusted cross the upper rib of the corner piece, in the same way as will be the case with the cross and "T" joints that we will describe below .
- Figure 18 is a detail, in perspective, of said corner.
- Figures 19 and 20 show two rows of a coupling or cross union, formed with a special block (7).

- Figure 23 is a front view of a wall or wall combined with the frame of a door or window.
- Figures 24 and 25 show, in perspective, the coupling of said frame to the wall of wooden blocks (1).
- Figure 26 is the perspective of one of the possible couplings of a wooden wall (1) to another in masonry or the like and Figures 27 and 28 are views in front elevation and in cross section, respectively, of a wall of wooden blocks (1) packed on a concrete paving.
In the first place, it should be added that, in all cases, the sizes of the cleat, and with that those of the wall, can vary according to the bearing capacity that it must have, as well as to achieve a certain degree of thermal insulation. and acoustics.
All the cleats described have, on one of their larger faces, longitudinal ribs (10), corresponding to as many other grooves (11), located on the opposite face (FIGS. 3a and 3b), all of this with the effects of a shingle adjustment when one block is overlaid on the other.
Said faces provided with ribs (10) and mortises (11) remain horizontal at the time of assembly and the blocks in question, for their lateral shingle, carry, on one of their smaller vertical faces, other ribs (12), combined with the appropriate mortises (13) on the opposite face (Figures 1 to 3, 3a and 3b) or with other ribs (14) (Figure 4).
In the example of FIGS. 12 to 15, the blocks (6), which are the carriers of the mortises (13), have, at the opposite end, ribs cut obliquely (12 ′), the form of action of which is deduced by examining said figures.
These wooden blocks, in their straight execution, admit several combinations with regard to the lateral union elements. Indeed, each part can have ribs (12) at one end and mortises (13) at the opposite (Figures 1 to 3 and 9); ribs (12) and (14) at both ends (Figure 4); a rib (12) and a mortise (13) at each end (Figure 8). The number of these male ribs and the female ribs mentioned can be very variable. In the right angle corner blocks (3) (Figures 5 to 7, 10 and 11), in addition to the ribs and mortises mentioned, other grooves (15) were made in one of the sides of the part, which , in one case, are perpendicular to the largest axis of the wooden block, as in the examples cited, while in the other they are oblique (Figures 12 to 15), depending on whether it is the corner assembly at 90 degrees or at an acute obtuse angle.
When it is necessary to make crosses (Figures 19 and 20) or "T" joints (Figures 21 and 22), for the first realization, special blocks (7) are provided, at a midpoint of their front faces. and rear of mortise groups (13 ′). In the execution in "T" it is necessary to use only one clearance (13 ′) on only one face of another special block (8), while in the following row it is necessary a pair of groups of extreme grooves (13˝ ), located in the block (9). The figures show perfectly how the shingle is made with the ribs of the adjoining blocks (1).
When raising a wall or wall using curved blocks or bricks (4) (Figure 9) it is done in the same way as when applying the straight or corner blocks described and drawn. In all cases it is understood that the construction of a wall (Figure 23) is done by the superimposition of said parts to form rows each of which will remain perfectly closed both horizontally and vertically, thanks to the shingle elements mentioned which will provide the adjustment waterproof required on all juxtaposition faces.
It can be seen that the frame audit (16) has been made on its uprights of external longitudinal grooves (17), which correspond, in number and dimension, with the male ribs, incident (12) or (14) of the wall blocks. . Said frame thus remains immobilized, but as for the wall, it finds in these grooves (17) a guide allowing it to move up and down for its self-compacting at the time of carrying out the work or after having completed it . The upper face of said frame (16), which is smooth, can be covered with a seal formed by a sheet of suitable elastic material (18) on which the normal upper blocks (1) rest, placed as if it were they were lintels, embellishing this connection with a suitable joint strip (19).
In some cases, the support or base of the wall may consist of a concrete paving (20) (Figure 25), the lower wooden blocks then resting on an asphalt canvas (21), located on a plate (22), which is in direct contact with the concrete (20). The attachment of a whole wall of wooden blocks of the class explained on said allage is obtained only, in the example shown, using anchor screws (23), as clearly shown in Figures 27 and 28.
- a) All the blocks, both the basic parts and those formed by groups of these, are made of natural or agglomerated wood, preferably pretreated, solid and having reduced dimensions, which not only makes it easier to handling and that the work is done faster but, especially, better absorb the mechanical stresses incident on the wall or wall, providing them with a better degree of articulation.
- b) All the blocks mentioned have the explained labyrinthine shingle system, guaranteeing in addition to a perfect connection, absolute sealing at all points of contact between blocks. The number and arrangement of the ribs and mortises constituting said system is variable, and the specific mission of these is concretely to make permanent the joint breaker closure in all directions despite the deformations that the wooden parts can undergo by environmental effect.
- c) Necessarily, the assembly of the class explained takes place at the four contact faces, the structural arrangement chosen being sufficient to obtain the desired closure which can be supplemented, if interested, by a layer of adhesive at the concrete points which would need it.
- d) The cleats can be normalized in straight alignment or else be prepared to form obtuse or acute right angle corners. Curved blocks or bricks can also be used for certain works. Blocks are also provided for cross or "T" couplings.
- e) Finally, a wall or wall of the type according to the present improvements admits the incorporation of frames and allows its coupling to works of various materials. The connection means can be very diverse but they do not form an integral part of this patent.
Will be independent of the object of the invention the class of wood or other material used and any treatment products prior to assembly, the auxiliary materials added when raising walls, walls and the like according to the improvements described, dimensions of adopted wooden blocks or bricks and any other details of a secondary order which do not affect their essentiality.
