Definitions

  • the device has a support for a sheet of material, which essentially consists of a base plate with upstanding bending webs.
  • a cardboard box provided for the production of the cover can be placed thereon so that the section of the material sheet provided as the back cover comes to lie between the bending webs.
  • a feed device in the form of a horizontal feed channel is located within the base plate, via which a hot-melt adhesive edge can be brought in transversely to the intended longitudinal extent of the cover spine. Between and a free space is provided below the bending webs, in which a vertically movable stamp is inserted.
  • the front end of the hot-melt adhesive tape is pushed into this free space until it comes to rest against a stop.
  • the stamp initially serves as a guide wall or underlay. By moving the stamp upward, a hotmelt adhesive strip is cut from the hotmelt adhesive tape in the width of the distance between the two bending webs and brought up to the back of the cover and finally connected to it by the action of heat and pressure.
  • the invention has for its object to provide a method with which a cover can be produced in a simple and reproducible manner and still at high speed. Another object is to find a device which is suitable for carrying out the method and which is distinguished by its simple structure and flexibility.
  • a hot-melt adhesive strip is not first cut off from the hot-melt adhesive tape and only transported to the material sheet after a transport process, but the hot-melt adhesive tape is used with its front, for which The end of the hot-melt adhesive strip is brought into the area of the material sheet. The front end is only cut off to form the hot-melt adhesive strip when it has come to rest.
  • the hot-melt adhesive strip is heated when pressed against the sheet of material, whereby the adhesion to the sheet of material can be increased.
  • the hot-melt adhesive tape be held in the area of the hot-melt adhesive strip to be separated and the material sheet by applying a vacuum, thereby preventing the hot-melt adhesive tape and the material sheet from slipping during the subsequent cutting process.
  • the material sheet after the hot-melt adhesive strip has been attached is transported in its longitudinal direction at least by the length of the material sheet and is only then grooved.
  • This division into two successive process steps has the advantage that there is considerably more freedom with regard to the arrangement of the grooves with respect to the hot-melt adhesive strip, ie can make an optimal arrangement here.
  • guide elements can be provided which guide the cover through lateral contact with the hot-melt adhesive strip.
  • the task - starting from the device mentioned at the outset - is achieved in that the planes of the guide wall and support and the stop form a gap for the introduction of the hot-melt adhesive tape.
  • This gap which only occurs in physical form after the material sheet has been placed on the support, gives the front end of the hot-melt adhesive tape additional hold and allows it to assume a defined position after it has been placed against the stop.
  • the distance between the planes of the guide wall and the support should essentially correspond to the thickness of the hot-melt adhesive tape, with falling below or exceeding the distance being harmless. With this design, the part of the hot-melt adhesive tape retracted in the gap is practically no longer subject to any significant transport movement.
  • the stop is at the same time designed as a support for the sheet of material. It should also be adjustable in the direction of transport of the hot-melt adhesive tape so that the width of the hot-melt adhesive strip can be changed in a simple manner. It is expedient if the stop is connected to lateral guide elements for the material sheet, so that when the stop is adjusted, a corresponding adjustment of the guide elements takes place in such a way that the cut off hot melt adhesive strips actually comes to rest on the area provided for the material sheet. Of course, there is also the possibility of not coupling these lateral guide elements directly to the stop in order to be able to produce other formats.
  • the cutting device expediently has a cutting sword arranged next to the guide wall.
  • the cutting sword should then be opposed to a support surface against which the cutting sword hits with the cover in between.
  • the pressing device can have a stamp opposite the guide wall, so that the pressing of the hot-melt adhesive strip onto the inside of the material sheet takes place from the side facing away from the hot-melt adhesive strip, that is to say the outside of the material sheet.
  • the guide wall is also the possibility of designing the guide wall as such a stamp.
  • Pressing device and / or guide wall should additionally be provided with a heating device in order to make it easier to attach the hot-melt adhesive strip to the material sheet.
  • the support and / or the guide wall have suction holes which are connected to a vacuum pump.
  • the cover and the part of the hot-melt adhesive tape resting on the guide wall are fixed locally and cannot move relative to one another until the pressing device becomes effective.
  • the device has guide and transport devices for transporting the material sheets through the device transversely to the transport direction of the hot-melt adhesive tape. This enables automatic feeding and removal of the material sheet and thus extensive automation of the entire manufacturing process. They are particularly advantageous if the device has a grooving device for grooving the material sheets, which is arranged in the transport direction of the material sheets after the feed device for the hot melt adhesive tape, so that the grooving takes place after the attachment of the hot-melt adhesive strip.
  • the groove device should have at least two groove webs and a punch opposite the groove webs as well as guide devices for contact on both sides of the hot-melt adhesive strip.
  • the guide devices expediently consist of two guide surfaces that run parallel to the groove webs. The distance between the guide surfaces should be changeable together with that of the groove webs. Specifically, this can be done in that the guide surfaces are formed by the end faces of guide plates which are mounted differently on a base plate and have the groove webs.
  • the device shown in Figure (1) is basically constructed in two parts. It consists of an attachment device (1) for attaching or attaching a hot-melt adhesive strip to a sheet of material and an adjoining groove device (2) for embossing grooves in the sheet of material on both sides of the hot-melt adhesive strip. Both devices (1, 2) are drawn apart here. In reality, they are directly connected.
  • the attachment device (1) has a cross-section L-shaped cutting table (3). On the vertical side - in the figures (2) and (3) on the left - a cutting sword (4) is attached, which is guided vertically displaceably, indicated by the guide slots (5, 6).
  • the drive for the cutting blade (4) is omitted here for the sake of clarity. Both electric motors and pneumatically or hydraulically operating actuating cylinders can be used for this.
  • a stop plate (7) is arranged on the top of the cutting table (3) and can be adjusted in the directions of the guide slots (8, 9) - that is, horizontally and transversely to the cutting blade (4).
  • the stop plate (7) also serves as a support for a sheet of material (10), which is not used here shown transport and guide devices in the direction of arrow A is inserted into the attachment device (1).
  • a sheet of material (10) which is not used here shown transport and guide devices in the direction of arrow A is inserted into the attachment device (1).
  • there are further support devices for the material sheet (10) which are also omitted here for the sake of clarity.
  • a feed device (11) for transporting and guiding a hot-melt adhesive tape (12) is arranged opposite the cutting table (3).
  • the hot-melt adhesive tape (12) is pulled off a hot-melt adhesive tape roll (13) and carried out between two rollers (14, 15) arranged one above the other.
  • the upper roller (15) is driven by an electric motor (16) and thereby drives the hot melt adhesive tape (12) towards the cutting table (3). Both the rollers (14, 15) and the electric motor (16) are omitted in FIGS. (2) and (3).
  • An additional guide channel (17) is provided between the two rollers (14, 15) and the cutting table (3), through which the hot-melt adhesive tape (12) runs and is guided in the direction of the top of the cutting table (3).
  • a hold-down device (20) is provided, which is located above the cutting blade (4) and can be moved vertically together with the pressure ram (18). In addition, it can be raised and lowered relative to the pressure ram (18) - also in the vertical direction, illustrated by the two guide slots (21, 22).
  • the mechanism for moving the hold-down device (20) is omitted.
  • the groove device (2) has a stationary horizontal base plate (23) on which two groove plates (24, 25) are arranged. Both groove plates each have two groove webs (26, 27, 28, 29). Their frontal distance can be adjusted, which is indicated by the guide slots (30, 31, 32, 33).
  • the front groove plate (24) in the view according to FIG. (1) can be adjusted with the aid of an electric motor (34).
  • the end faces of the two groove plates (24, 25) form guide surfaces (35, 36), the function of which will be explained below.
  • a press ram (37) is located above the base plate (23) and the groove plates (24, 25), with a corresponding recess for each groove web (26, 27, 28, 29) on the underside of the press ram (37) - for example with ( 38) designated - is provided.
  • One half of the underside is designed as a separate stamp plate (39) and can be adjusted in the same direction as the groove plate (24) underneath, so that the recesses (38) can be aligned with the groove webs (26, 27).
  • the press ram (37) can be moved vertically, the drive and the guides for this being omitted for the sake of clarity.
  • the device works as follows to produce a cover.
  • a sheet of material (10) is inserted into the attachment device (1).
  • the guide devices and the stop plate (7) are positioned such that the area of the material sheet (10) intended for the back of the cover comes to lie exactly above the area of the upper side of the cutting table (3) serving as the guide wall (40). It is then fixed with the aid of negative pressure which is generated in the stop plate (7) via air openings (41) connected to a vacuum pump.
  • the hot-melt adhesive tape (12) is conveyed transversely to the transport direction of the material sheet (10), its front region running onto the guide wall (40) and thus into the gap between this guide wall (40) and the material sheet (10) until the front edge counteracts strikes the stop plate (7).
  • This situation is shown in Figure (2).
  • the part of the hot-melt adhesive tape (12) resting on the guide wall (40) is also held in this position by means of a vacuum, the vacuum here also being brought about by air openings (42) which are connected to a vacuum pump.
  • the pressure stamp (18) and the hold-down device (20) are at a distance from the top of the material sheet (10), as can also be seen in FIG. (2).
  • the pressure stamp (18) is now pressed onto the material sheet (10), so that at the latest now the material sheet (10) is in contact with the part of the material lying on the guide wall (40)
  • Hot melt adhesive tape (12) comes.
  • the hot melt adhesive tape (12) is heated in this area through the material sheet (10) so that an adhesive effect is produced.
  • the hold-down device (20) lowers onto the top of the material sheet (10).
  • the cutting knife (4) is moved vertically upward, so that the front part of the hot-melt adhesive tape (12) is cut off.
  • the result is a separate hot-melt adhesive strip (43), the width of which corresponds to that of the guide wall (40) and, due to the action of heat and pressure, is attached to the area of the material sheet (10) which is to form the back of the cover when the cover is finished. This situation is shown in Figure (3).
  • the pressure ram (18) and hold-down device (20) are raised again and the cutting blade (4) is moved downward.
  • the vacuum generation is replaced by blown air, so that the material sheet (10) can be conveyed in the direction of arrow A into the groove device (2).
  • the material sheet (10) is guided via the hot-melt adhesive strip (43) protruding from the underside.
  • the guide surfaces (35, 36) on the groove plates (24, 25) are set at a distance such that they rest on both sides of the hot-melt adhesive strip (43) and guide it and thus also the material sheet (10).
  • the prescribed procedure can be carried out in close order, i.e. As soon as the material sheet (10) is grooved, a subsequent material sheet (10) can be inserted into the attachment device (1) and provided with a hot-melt adhesive strip (43). Appropriately provided transport and guiding devices allow the process to run fully automatically at high cycle speeds.
