Definitions
- the present invention relates to a protective helmet, for drivers or passengers of vehicles, of the "integral" type comprising a shell, rigid and impact-resistant intended to protect the forehead, the top of the skull, the temples, the occipital part of the skull, the nape of the neck, the chin, and having an opening freeing the part of the face comprising the eyes and the noses, a movable transparent screen, means of fixing, articulation and control of this screen on the shell arranged so that said screen can occupy two extreme positions, a first position in which it closes the aforementioned opening and a second position in which it at least partially releases this opening, and a chin strap associated with the shell to secure the helmet and prevent it being torn off in the event of of choc.
- FIG. 1 A first embodiment, the simplest, in which the screen is applied, on a part of its periphery, against the external face of the shell to close the abovementioned opening.
- the screen is applied, on a part of its periphery, against the external face of the shell to close the abovementioned opening.
- this embodiment there is no real integration of the screen with the helmet and it can be operated, to clear the opening, by acting with the finger or fingers on the edge of the screen projecting from the opening.
- this embodiment is simple, it nevertheless has various drawbacks, namely: entry of air into the helmet through the gap existing between the screen and the shell, aerodynamic noise caused by the edges of the screen projecting relative to the hull and danger of catching the screen, at the projecting edges, in the event of a fall.
- the object of the invention is to remedy the various drawbacks mentioned above and to provide a helmet with a perfectly integrated screen, which is mounted on the helmet by means of a particularly simple mechanism employing an extremely reduced number of moving parts made of material. semi-rigid and whose release of the opening of the helmet is actuated by a simple control perfectly accessible outside the helmet.
- the opening of the shell and the screen are adjusted so that, when the latter occupies its first aforementioned extreme position, the screen is integrated into the shell so that its external face and that of the shell are connected practically without gaps or unevenness
- the means for fixing, articulation and control of the screen comprising a push button mounted on the shell so as to be accessible from the outside of the latter and a lever , associated with said push button and housed in the thickness of the shell, which bears on the internal face of the screen to allow the latter to be brought, under the action of the push button, from its first aforementioned extreme position at an intermediate position in which the screen is clear of the opening of the shell and in which it is possible to place the end of at least one finger between the shell and the screen to bring it manually into its second extreme position.
- the push button is arranged in a housing provided in the shell from the end face thereof, the section of the push button and the section of the housing, taken perpendicular to the direction of movement of the push button, being substantially equal in order to minimize the gap remaining between the side walls of the push button and the corresponding walls of the housing, the visible face of the push button being profiled so that, when the push button is in the rest position, it is connected to the external face of the shell without unevenness.
- the above-mentioned housing in which the push button is arranged communicates along one of its edges with the opening of the shell, so that, when the push button is actuated using the end of a finger, in particular the thumb, it can be slipped, via the housing, into the aforementioned opening to make contact, when the screen occupies its aforementioned intermediate position, with the edge and the internal face of the screen to bring it manually to its second extreme position.
- the means of fixing and articulation of the screen to the shell comprise a part of generally quadrangular shape fixed to the screen, along one of its sides, at proximity of each of the lateral edges of the screen to present, relative to the screen, an extension intended to be placed in a corresponding housing of the shell, partially when the screen occupies its second extreme position and completely when the screen occupies its first extreme position, this extension having, on the one hand, along the sides of the part contiguous to the side fixed to the screen, two ramps each cooperating with a fixed lug carried by the shell and, on the other hand, a recess arranged between the ramps, in which is housed a fixed lug carried by the shell and which cooperates with the edges of the recess, these lugs are located at the vertices of a triangle and the ramps and recess are p rofiles to ensure the screen, when it leaves its first extreme position to occupy its second extreme position, a slight translational movement releasing the screen from
- the protective helmet 1 is of the "integral" type which includes a shell 2, rigid and impact resistant, intended to protect the forehead, the top of the skull, the temples, the occipital part of the skull, the nape, the chin, and having an opening 3 freeing the part of the face comprising the eyes and the nose, a transparent mobile screen 4, means 5 for fixing, articulation and control of this screen on the shell 2 arranged so that said screen 4 can occupy two extreme positions, a first position, as shown in FIG.
- the opening 3 of the shell 2 and the screen 4 are adjusted so that, when the latter occupies its first extreme position, the screen 4 s 'integrates with the hull so that its external face 6 and that of the hull are connected practically without gaps or unevenness.
- the means 5 for fixing, articulation and control of the screen comprise a push button 7 mounted on the shell 2 so as to be accessible from the outside thereof (see FIGS.
- the section of this housing 11 and that of the push button 7, taken perpendicular to the direction of movement of the push button, shown diagrammatically by the arrow 13, are substantially equal in order to minimize the gap remaining between the side walls 14 of the push button and the corresponding walls of the housing, the visible face 14 of the push button being profiled so that, when the push button is in the rest position (see FIGS. 1 and 2), it is perfectly connected to the external face 12 of the shell 2 and this, without unevenness.
- the housing 11 in which the push-button 7 is disposed communicates along one of its edges with the opening 3 of the shell, so that, when the push button 7 is actuated using the end of the finger 10 and in particular using the thumb, the latter can be slid, through the housing 11, into the opening 3 of the shell 2 ( Figure 3) to make contact, when the screen 4 occupies its aforementioned intermediate position, with the edge 16 and the internal face 9 of the screen to bring it manually into its second extreme position.
- the push button 7 and the lever 8 which is associated therewith are advantageously mounted in the shell 2 near the base of the screen 4 and symmetrically with respect to the plane of symmetry of the helmet perpendicular to a straight line passing through the ears.
- the push button 7 and the lever 8 are advantageously produced, as shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, in one piece and located substantially in the extension one of the other, this part being mounted on a shaft 17, fixed to the shell 2, so as to be able to rotate freely around the latter against a lug 18 presented by the part and forming a spring, this lug taking support on an element 19 of the shell 2.
- the means 5 for fixing and articulation of the screen 4 to the shell 2 comprise a part 20, of generally quadrangular shape, fixed to the screen, the along one of its sides 21, close to each of the lateral edges 22 of the screen 4 to present, relative to the screen, an extension 23 intended to be disposed in a corresponding housing 23 'formed in the shell 2 and this, partially when the screen 4 occupies its second extreme position (release of the opening 3) and totally when it occupies its first extreme position (closing of the opening 3).
- this extension 23 has, on the one hand, along the sides of the part 20 contiguous to the side 21 fixed to the screen, two ramps 24, 24 ' each cooperating with a fixed lug 25, 25 'carried by the shell 2 and, on the other hand, a recess 26 arranged between the ramps 24, 24', in which is housed a fixed lug 27 carried by the shell and which cooperates with the edges 28 of the recess.
- the pins 25, 25' and 27 are advantageously located at the vertices of a triangle.
- the ramps 24 and 24 'and recess 26 are profiled to provide the screen, when it leaves its first extreme position to occupy its second extreme position, a slight translational movement releasing the screen from the opening in which it is integrated and separating it from the shell which is followed by a movement of rotation of the screen relative to said shell, away from the latter, in order to avoid any contact of the screen with said shell.
- the movement of the screen 4, to close the opening 3, is carried out in the opposite direction and in the same way.
- the ramps 24 and 24' above mentioned each have (see FIG. 5) a stop 29, 29 'against which comes s 'press the corresponding lug 25, 25' presented by the shell 2 when the screen reaches its second extreme position.
- each of these extensions has, in its part furthest from the screen 4 and on its face 30 facing the inside of the helmet , a lug 31 cooperating with a fixed ramp 32 presented by the shell (see FIGS. 5 and 6).
- This ramp 32 is profiled, like the ramps 24, 24 'and the recess 26 of the extension 23, to ensure the aforementioned movement of the screen 4.
- the parts 20 are advantageously made of semi-rigid material and each of the extension 23 of these parts have its lug 31 which is located in a deformable zone 33 of said extension.
- This area 33 which is made easily deformable thanks to the cutout 34 made in the extension 23, is accessible through the opening 3 of the shell 2 when the screen 4 occupies its second extreme position. So that a pressure exerted on this zone through a hole, not shown, made inside the helmet opposite it, allows to release the lug 31 of the ramp 32 in order to allow the separation of the parts 20 for fixing the screen 4 to the shell, with a view to replacing the screen.
- This separation which takes place by rotation of the extension 23 of each piece 20 around the lug 25 'cooperating with the ramp 24' formed along the lower edge of the extension, is permitted by a notch 35, formed in the extension aforesaid from its lower edge and in front of the stop 29 ', in which the lug 25' can be housed when the screen occupies its second extreme position (release of the opening of the helmet).
- This notch 35 is made so that, when the lug 25 'is housed there, the extension 23 of each piece 20 is released from the other two lugs 25 and 27 with which it cooperates.
- the placement of a new screen 4 provided with its parts 20 is carried out in the opposite direction and in the same way.
- the cutout 36 (FIG. 5) produced in the parts 20 is intended to provide the latter with greater elasticity, which improves the displacement of the extensions 23 of the parts 20 in the housings 23 ′ of the shell 2.
