Definitions

  • the invention relates to portable pliers with motor drive for irreversible jamming of C-shaped cramps or the like, in particular for connecting elongated elements, for example edges of wire mesh plates, such as are used for protective structures against landslides and erosions, or of metal wire cages on construction sites .
  • Portable pliers with motor drive for the purposes mentioned are already known, which have a pair of mirror-symmetrically arranged clamping jaws, which are mounted on a support member and, at their free ends, which protrude outwards and are spread out in the rest position, seat grooves for the curved ends of the Have C-shaped cramps. These are inserted into the seat through a thrust plate acting on the back of the staple, which runs parallel to the clamping jaws and is moved in the longitudinal direction via a rod.
  • the pliers also have a stop which prevents the back of the cramp inserted into the seat grooves from retracting when the free ends of the jaws approach each other to clamp the cramps.
  • the thrust plate lies in the plane in which the clamping jaws are located, the rod connected to these being the piston rod of a pneumatic working unit.
  • the insertion process of the staples into the seat grooves, which are incorporated into the free end sections of the jaws are finished as soon as the thrust plate has reached its end position in the direction of the seat grooves; the cramp is then compressed in its clamped position as the pusher plate retracts to its opposite position.
  • the stop which prevents the back of the staple from retreating when jamming, consists of a snap-in pawl which engages behind the central part of the back of the staple under spring action.
  • a pair of pliers with the features of the preamble of claim 1 is known from US-A 3 066 304. These pliers have a drive in the form of a single electric motor, which both swivels the jaws and displaces the thrust plate via a spur gear as well as downstream worm gears and toggle joint mechanisms.
  • a slide is moved in the direction of the two clamping jaws via the gears mentioned, as a result of which the clamping jaws are closed by means of two coupling rods.
  • a pinion mounted on the slide rolls on a toothed rack, as a result of which, due to the simultaneous engagement in a toothing of the push plate, it is pushed forward.
  • US-A 3 287 955 shows and describes a similar pair of pliers with only a single motor drive, which, however, is here a pneumatically acting work unit.
  • Pneumatically operated pliers can only generate relatively small forces, as the available pressures are below 10 bar lie. With such pressures, however, with reasonable construction costs for the pliers, no forces can be generated which are suitable for jamming staples of relatively stiff design.
  • the invention has for its object to provide a portable pliers of the type specified in claim 1, which can also jam relatively stiff cramps effectively and safely with little weight and small size, without this deforming in an undesirable manner.
  • the pliers should be so reliable and robust that they meet the requirements of longer and continuous use even under difficult conditions, for example on a construction site or in the field, and can also be used by less powerful operators.
  • the solution provided according to the invention has the essential advantage that instead of a single drive for the two organs of the pliers - clamping jaws and thrust plate - two mutually independent drives in the form of hydraulic units are provided.
  • a simply constructed pliers consisting of relatively few individual parts is available, which can be manufactured economically with a low weight and which is extremely robust, reliable and not susceptible to wear in use.
  • This advantage is particularly important when the pliers are used on construction sites and in the field where there are no repair workshops.
  • the work sequences for the two organs mentioned can be controlled independently of one another and according to requirements. While the hydraulic work unit for closing the jaws can be designed so strong that even strong staples can be processed, the other work unit for moving the push plate can be relatively small, since the force for feeding the staples is only very small. In this way, the overall size of the entire pliers is small.
  • the portable pliers shown in FIGS. 1 to 11 have a housing 1 with a rear handle 2 and a side handle 3.
  • the housing 1 is fastened to a supporting structure of the pliers, which has a support plate 4 extending in the longitudinal direction.
  • clamping jaws 6, 7 which are mirror-symmetrically identical to one another and which are arranged symmetrically to a longitudinal center plane 8 of the pliers (cf. FIGS. 3 and 7); the longitudinal median plane 8 extends at right angles to the support plate 4.
  • the clamping jaws 6 and 7 are mounted on pivots 9 and 10, respectively, which protrude from the upper side 5 of the support plate 4 and have free end sections which extend beyond the front edge 11 of the support plate 4.
  • Coupling rods 12 and 13 are articulated to the ends of the clamping jaws 6 and 7 opposite these end sections, which are in turn mounted on a slide 15 via a pin 14 which runs parallel to the pivot pins 9 and 10.
  • the slider 15 can be moved in the longitudinal direction of the support plate 4 and is guided in its displacement movements by engaging with a lower shoulder 16 in a longitudinal groove 17 which is incorporated into the top 5 of the support plate 4.
  • a rod is connected, which is the piston rod 18 of a piston 19 of a double-acting hydraulic working unit 20.
  • the cylinder 21 of this working unit 20 is attached to a cylindrical support block 22 which extends at right angles to the support plate 4 and is attached to the rear edge thereof, which faces away from the front edge 11.
  • the support block 22 thus forms part of the load-bearing structure of the pliers and serves as a support element for the rear part of the housing 1 with the handle 2.
  • the piston 19 divides the interior of the cylinder 21 into two chambers 23 and 24, which are connected via lines 25 and 26 and via a distributor switch 29, the function of which is explained in more detail below, with a pressure source 27 (cf. FIG. 11) or with a drain 28 can be connected.
  • the free ends of the jaws 6 and 7, which protrude beyond the front edge 11 of the support plate 4, are designed as ends 30 which protrude from the underside 31 of the support plate 4, which is opposite to its upper side 5, on which the jaws 6 and 7 lie .
  • grooves 32 are incorporated, the sections of which lie in the region of the free ends of the clamping jaws 6, 7 are curved in the direction of the longitudinal center plane 8.
  • grooves 32 serve to receive and seat the opposite, curved ends 33 of C-shaped cramps 34 (see FIGS. 4 and 6) which are to be irreversibly clamped with the aid of the pliers, whereby they differ from those in FIGS 6 shown in the form shown in Figure 7 are converted.
  • Each groove 32 merges into a guide groove 35 with a C-shaped cross section, which is shown in FIG.
  • the two mutually opposite guide grooves 35 are incorporated in two longitudinal ribs 36 which protrude from the mutually opposite edges of the underside 31 of the support plate 4. Due to this arrangement, the grooves 32, which are incorporated into the ends 30 of the jaws 6, 7, form extensions of the C-shaped guide grooves 35 when the jaws 6, 7 are in their spread rest position.
  • a thrust plate 37 The longitudinal edges of a thrust plate 37 are slidably mounted in the two guide grooves 35, the groove base surfaces of which have a distance from one another which essentially corresponds to the height of the cramps 34.
  • the thrust plate 37 has at its end facing the ends 30 of the clamping jaws 6, 7 a concave end face 38, the curvature of which corresponds approximately to the curvature of the back 39 of the cramps 34.
  • the push plate 37 is connected to a piston rod 40 of a piston 41, which is slidably mounted in a cylinder 42 of a double-acting hydraulic auxiliary work unit 43, which is also fastened to the support block 22, namely under the cylinder 21 of the work unit 20.
  • the piston 41 divides the interior of the cylinder 42 into two chambers 44 and 45, which can be connected to a line 46 or 47 via a distributor switch 48.
  • the distributor switch 48 can close off the two chambers 44 and 45 to the outside or connect it to the pressure source 27 for the pressure fluid or to the drain 28, similarly to the way the distributor switch 29 controls the two chambers 23 and 24 of the cylinder 21.
  • Both distribution switches 29 and 48 are controlled by a logic circuit 49 (see FIG. 11). This is actuated when the switch 50 is closed, which can be actuated via a switch button 51 in the rear handle 2, provided that the pressure in the liquid coming from the pressure source 27 (preferably an electric pump) has reached the normal operating pressure for the pliers and a pressure not shown Pressure switch releases the operation of the logic circuit 49.
  • the logic circuit 49 is started. This first actuates the distributor switch 29 so that the chamber 23 of the working unit 20 is connected to the pump 27, so that the piston 19 is advanced in the direction of arrow 52. The piston 41 stops because the logic circuit 49 simultaneously adjusts the distribution switch 48 so that both chambers 44 and 45 of the auxiliary work unit 43 have no connection to the outside.
  • the logic circuit 49 is set so that the switch 50 is now opened by releasing the pressure on the switch button 51.
  • the distributor switch 29 is simultaneously controlled so that the piston 19 is retracted, the free ends of the clamping jaws 6 and 7 being spread into the open position.
  • the auxiliary work unit 43 also pulls back the push plate 37 by actuating the distribution switch 48 by means of the logic circuit 49, the chamber 45 of the auxiliary work unit 43 being connected to the pump 27 and the other chamber 44 to the drain 28 will.
  • the concave end face 38 of the pusher plate 37 is located immediately behind the junction point of a feed magazine 53 into the space between the two groove bases of the mutually opposite guide grooves 35, which are incorporated into the longitudinal ribs 36 of the support plate 4.
  • a subsequent cramp can move up from the feed magazine 53 and lie with its back 39 in such a position that it rests on the concave end face 38 of the thrust plate 37 (see FIG. 6).
  • the pliers described and designed according to the invention allow irreversible jamming even of very strong cramps and, thanks to the use of hydraulic working units which can exert very high pressure forces, are relatively light in weight and have a small installation space.
  • it fulfills the basic requirements for portable tools and is very reliable due to the simple construction of the retaining means, which prevent the back of the staples from shrinking and irregular deformation of the staples during jamming.
  • Figures 13 to 16 show a modified embodiment of the pliers.
  • the guide grooves 35 which are incorporated in the lower longitudinal ribs 36 of the support plate 4, are arranged such that the underside 31 of the support plate 4 and with it also the thrust plate 37 to the top 5 of the support plate 4, on which the jaws 6 and 7 lie, run inclined.
  • the inclination is chosen so that the cramp 34 inserted into the grooves 32 of the clamping jaws 6 and 7 sits in the two grooves 32 at the end of the feed movement of the push plate 37, as shown in FIG. 14; this means that the height of the two grooves 32 is greater than the diameter of the cramp wire.
  • an exact clamping of the staple 34 is facilitated, which takes on the shape shown in FIG. 16 at the end of the closing movement of the ends 30 of the two clamping jaws 6 and 7.
  • the clamp 34 is prevented from moving downward during the jamming, since a plate 69 is fastened on both sides of the front end section of the underside 31 of the support plate 4 (cf. FIG. 13). This measure can also be taken in the embodiment shown in FIGS. 1 to 11.
  • the logic circuit 49 that controls the operations of the gun is not controlled by the pulses supplied to the logic circuit 49 by a pressure switch, but by pulses due to the closing and opening of micro Limit switches 63, 64 and 65, 66, which are associated with the rods 18 and 40 of the pistons 19 and 41 and are actuated by lugs 67 and 68, respectively, which are fastened on these rods.
  • This variant improves the economy when operating the pliers, increases their functional accuracy and improves safety for the operator.
  • the electric pump 27, the distribution switches 29 and 48 and the components of the electrical circuit which controls the function of the working units 20 and 43 and contains the logic circuit 49 can be accommodated in a compact unit which can be accommodated in a bag or a backpack that the operator can easily carry.
  • connection to an external energy source consists of a cable which has to be connected to a mains socket, which has an extremely favorable influence on the mobility and the ease of use.
  • the jaws 6 and 7 can be designed so that they are mounted on a single pivot which protrudes from the top 5 of the support plate 4 and which takes the place of the two pivot 9 and 10.
