Definitions

  • the present invention essentially relates to an austenitic and non-magnetic stainless steel having excellent mechanical characteristics.
  • Austenitic and non-magnetic stainless steels are already known which include carbon, manganese, silicon, nickel, chromium, molybdenum, nitrogen, these elements being contained in the alloy in various proportions, the balance being consisting of iron and various elements in the form of traces.
  • the steel could be modified by increasing the content of certain hardening elements such as molybdenum or nitrogen for example, but these elements did not allow, after hyper-quenching and appropriate heat treatment, to obtain a set of desirable physical characteristics. , and more particularly a modulus of elasticity which is satisfactory in certain applications for the production of parts requiring a high modulus of elasticity.
  • certain hardening elements such as molybdenum or nitrogen for example
  • the object of the present invention is to remedy the above drawbacks by proposing a new steel which has a set of high mechanical characteristics, and very particularly a high elastic modulus and a very low magnetic permeability.

Description

    Figure imgb0001
