Abstract

A water jet injection device for use with mixed beverage dispensing machines is provided, wherein a bushing-type sealing element which fulfills several functions is placed in the injector housing. In particular, the sealing element sealingly separates the mixing chamber from the rearward section of the injector housing in a reliable manner and further acts as a nonreturn valve hermetically sealing the mixing chamber against the supply conduit for fruit syrup or concentrate when the injector in the mixing chamber is inoperative and, at the same time, the sealing element provides a seal when an intake conduit or the like is connected with the lateral intake opening of the injector housing.

Description

The invention relates to a water jet injection device on dispensers for producing and dispensing mixed drinks from fruit syrup or concentrates and water with the features of the preamble of claim 1. It is also for the production of, for. B. chocolate drinks or soups from paste-like concentrates, or for metering other flowable substances with a high solids content.

Such a device is known from DE-OS 32 34 957.

In order to be able to arrange the storage container for the fruit syrup, the concentrate or the like regardless of the height of the mixing chamber and to ensure safe functioning and setting options, a check valve and / or a reducing device is generally assigned to the supply line to the mixing chamber . This can be a spring-loaded check valve, a ball valve or a reducing valve. Such an arrangement is relatively complex and presents difficulties because of the risk of clogging and for the cleaning which is always necessary in such systems. In spite of the relatively high manufacturing expenditure, such a known check valve can also only take on a limited function, namely closing or releasing only the supply line for fruit syrup or concentrate depending on the pressure conditions that occur.

It is an object of the invention to further develop such a water jet injection device with the features of the preamble in order to avoid the disadvantages indicated, to simplify the manufacture, to expand the functional range of the check valve and finally to simplify the conditions for flushing and cleaning the system and to improve.

This object is achieved by the measures of claim 1.

The preferably bush-shaped sealing element made of elastically resilient material can be manufactured inexpensively in a simple manner. Special constructive measures in the area of the feed line for the fruit syrup or the concentrate are not necessary. The injector housing also requires no special design in order to be able to use the sealing element. When installed in the injector housing, the sealing element can reliably perform various functions. So the sealing element z. B. reliably seal the connection between the housing and the suction line or the mixing chamber with respect to the area of this housing facing away from the nozzle section of the injector housing. No special additional sealing measures are required. If the bore required for the production of certain beverages for sucking air into the mixing chamber is provided on the side of the sealing element facing away from the nozzle section in the injector housing, the sealing element in the region where it surrounds the water jet pipe in a sealing manner can also be used as a check valve type effective lip seal can be formed, which reliably seals the suction hole against the mixing chamber in the absence of negative pressure in the mixing chamber, but releases the connection with sufficient injector effect. As a result, the mixing chamber and all other parts of the water jet injection device that come into contact with the mixed drink can be reliably rinsed with pressurized water, while at the same time both the supply line for the fruit syrup or the concentrate and also the air suction hole are hermetically sealed against the rinsing process. The rinsing process is thus much more reliable and easier, so that it can also be triggered as a final phase for each individual dosing process if required. On the other hand, the valve element releases the connection between the mixing chamber and the air intake bore as well as to the supply line for the fruit syrup or the concentrate to a sufficient extent when the injector action occurs.

Occurrence of pressure changes during injector operation z. B. by clogging the nozzle portion by coarse pulp or the like., Air supply bore and supply line are suddenly and reliably shut off by the recoil effect of the sealing element. This reliably prevents contamination of the air intake hole by syrup or concentrate or mixed drink. The sealing element also prevents the injector housing from dripping empty after the injection process has ended due to its kickback effect.

The sealing element can ensure a hermetic seal under all operating conditions between the mixing chamber and the rear region of the injector housing if the ventilation hole is provided in the nozzle section of the injector housing in the form of a radial bore of small cross section instead of in this rear region of the housing.

In a further embodiment, the sealing element also forms the seal for the connection between the injector housing and the suction line for the fruit syrup. For this purpose, the sealing element can have an annular disk-shaped sealing section for this connection point, a middle section which can be inserted into a connection of the injector housing and a truncated cone-shaped lip section which bears sealingly on a frustoconical insert in the inlet opening for the fruit syrup.

The invention is explained in more detail below with the aid of schematic drawings using several exemplary embodiments. These are each shown in the figures in a vertical longitudinal section.

On the back of the larger cross section, the injector housing is closed by a cap-shaped cover 2, which is screwably connected to the housing. The cover 2 is connected to a water pressure source via a connecting line 8. Connected to the cover 2 is a part 7 that can be displaced in the piston-like manner in the injector housing, which is sealed by a sliding seal in the form of an O-ring and carries a water jet pipe 9 at its lower end, which is arranged centrally in the injector housing 1 and in a mixing chamber 3 of the injector housing ends. The position of the mouth of the water jet pipe 9 in the mixing chamber can be changed as desired by screwing the cover 2 onto the injector housing, whereby the injector effect can be adjusted. At the bottom in FIG. 1, the mixing chamber 3 is followed by a nozzle section 5 with a venturi-like cross section, the narrowest point 6 of which lies at the outlet of the mixing chamber 3. At a distance from the nozzle section 5, the connecting piece 4 opens laterally into the injector housing 1 for a feed line for the fruit syrup or the concentrate. The feed line is connected to a storage vessel, which can be arranged higher or lower with respect to the mixing chamber 3. At a distance above the connecting piece 4, a ventilation hole 11 is provided, through which the interior of the injector housing 1 is in free communication with the outside atmosphere.

A bush-shaped sealing element 10 made of elastically flexible sealing material is inserted into the injector housing. The sealing element has a rear cylindrical section 12 of larger cross section, which is inserted into the injector housing 1 under pretension and under abutment against a housing shoulder and which cooperates sealingly with the inner surface of the injector housing and also sealingly with the water jet pipe 9 via a lip sealing section 13. The sealing element 10 thus sealingly separates the mixing chamber 3 from the rear region of the injector housing 1 and, via the lip seal 13 acting in the manner of a non-return valve, also the air intake bore 11 from the mixing chamber 3. Connected to the cylindrical section 12 is a tapered cylindrical section 14 of reduced cross-section, which forms an annular distribution chamber 15 with the inner surface of the injector housing 1, which is in free flow connection with the connecting piece 4 for the fruit syrup or the concentrate. This section 14 is followed by a lip-shaped sealing section 16 which widens outward in the shape of a truncated cone, the wider edge of which sealingly adjoins the inner surface of the injector housing 1 and thus sealingly separates the mixing chamber 3 from the annular distributor chamber 15 and the inlet 4 for syrup or concentrate.

The arrangement is such that when the injector effect is interrupted by shutting off the water supply, the lip seals 13 and 16 fulfill their sealing function. The same applies if an overpressure occurs in the mixing chamber 3. This can be the case if a rinsing pressure for cleaning the parts that come into contact with the mixed beverage is generated by a system (not shown here) in the mixing chamber 3 or if the nozzle section 5 is clogged by pulp or the like during the injection process. However, if the water jet entering the mixing chamber 3 creates the injector effect and thus a negative pressure in the mixing chamber 3, the lip seals, which are designed as non-return valves, bring the mixing chamber 3 into connection with both the annular distributor chamber and with the air intake bore 11. If mixing with air is not desired when producing the mixed beverage, only the air intake bore 11 needs to be closed by the closing valve.

In the embodiment according to FIG. 2, the injector housing 20 has a connecting bore 23 between two ring seals 27, which can be connected to a supply line for fruit syrup or concentrate. The bore 23 opens into a distributor ring chamber 30 which can be sealed off from the mixing chamber 24 by the lip-shaped non-return portion of the sealing element 29. The water jet pipe 26 is in sealing contact with a sealing section 31 of the sealing element 29 under all possible operating conditions, so that the rear part of the injector housing 20 is hermetically sealed by the sealing element 29. A plug 21 can be screwed into the rear part, which carries the water jet pipe 26 and a plug connection 22 with a seal for the water connection. At a distance from the mixing chamber 24, the nozzle section 25 has a radial air suction bore 35, which starts from an outer annular groove 37.

This ring groove can be used to insert a 0-sealing ring 36 in order to shut off the air intake bore if air entry is not desired during the injection process. The O-ring 36 can be safely stored in a locking groove when not in use.

The arrangement is such that the injector housing can be inserted sealingly into a corresponding sleeve-shaped receptacle, sealed by the ring seals 27, and locked by a locking element engaging in the ring groove 28.

The functioning of the arrangement is similar to that of the embodiment according to FIG. 1, with the difference that the sealing element 29 constantly seals the rear area of the injector housing 20 and the air is fed into the mixture through the air suction bore 35 located in the nozzle section.

In the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 3, a jet pipe 46 is inserted into the elongated section 43 of the injector housing, with the water leech used at the end 44 of the housing device 45 is connected. At the other end of the elongated housing, a diffuser section 47 is attached, which has a prepared breakthrough point 49, at which an air intake opening can be drilled or exposed if necessary. The diffuser opens into a dispensing section 48 for the beverage. The housing has a relatively wide lateral extension 51, which is used for connection to the suction line or the like. In the present case, the suction line for the fruit syrup is directly replaced by the lower outlet 41 of a syrup container. The middle section 53b of a sealing element 53 is inserted into the extension 51.

This has an annular disk-shaped sealing section 53a, which takes over the sealing between the two parts when the container 41 and injector housing are assembled. An insert body is held in the middle section 53b of the sealing element 53 with the aid of a collar 54 which has two or more than two partially annular passage openings 55 for the syrup. To the side of the syrup container, the insert has a displacement body 52, on the other side of the collar a truncated cone-shaped end part 56, against which a flat, inclined, frustoconical lip section 57 of the sealing element 53 normally rests in a sealing manner. With 51 a the connection part of the approach 51 and 42 the connection part of the syrup container is designated. 50 represents an element which can be actuated from the outside and which is provided for cleaning purposes.

The device works with increased dynamic water pressure between about 3.5 and 6 bar when entering the water jet pipe and thus with a high accuracy, which is practically independent of changes in viscosity. It is not necessary to adjust the mixture strength using a reducing device between the storage container and the injector housing. The lip 57 (FIG. 3) has only a relatively low contact force and thus practically no reducing effect. To regulate the mixture strength, the jet pipe can be longitudinally adjustable, the water pressure (before entering the water jet pipe) can be varied, or the effect of the air admixture can be changed by the position of the air inlet opening on the injector housing or by adjusting the air inflow cross-section. None of these setting options requires parts that come into contact with the concentrate or the like or with the mixture.
