Definitions

  • the invention relates to a massage device which has a massage roller which can be rotated on an axis and has a profiled lateral surface and handles on the free ends of the axis.
  • a massage device suitable for self-massage is known, for example, from Swiss Patent No. 632 156.
  • massage devices are known in which a number of freely rotatable rolling elements are provided on one or more parallel axes. All of these known massage devices each have only a certain massage effect, given by the type and arrangement of the rolling elements, due to the unchanged profiling of the rolling element arrangement (Swiss Patent Nos. 455 144, 551 788, 555 675 and 627 641) .
  • the invention aims to provide a massage device of the type mentioned at the beginning with which various massage programs can be carried out which differ in the type and intensity of the physical effect.
  • the massage roller is composed of a number of disk-shaped rolling elements with a profiled race, which are rotatable relative to one another and Engage each other at certain angles.
  • the desired massage program can be selected by setting the mutual angular position of adjacent rolling elements.
  • the entirety of the rolling elements is presented as a massage roller with a fixed profile, since the rolling elements no longer rotate against one another.
  • the profiling of the tread suitably has each
  • Rolling body the same periodic course in U start direction.
  • This profiling can e.g. consist in the fact that the running ring of the rolling elements alternately has wider and narrower tread sections, the wider ones projecting radially forwards or backwards relative to the narrower tread sections.
  • the arrangement with regard to the adjustability of the rolling elements is preferably such that the central angle of two successive locking positions of adjacent rolling elements is smaller than the central angle of a period length of the profiling, so that two adjacent rolling elements can effectively have different angular positions to one another.
  • a ratio of the central angle of 1: 2 there are two effective angular positions, which means, for example, when profiling the type mentioned above, that in one angular position the wider and the narrower tread sections of both rolling elements are axially aligned , while in the second angular position the wider tread portions of one roller body are axially aligned with the narrower tread portions of the other roller body.
  • a suitable embodiment of the means for mutually fixing the set rolling elements consists in that the rolling elements have locking cams arranged uniformly in a circle on one end face and locking holes axially aligned with the locking cams on the other end face, and in that the rolling bodies are axial are resiliently braced against each other.
  • support supports are provided on the handles of the massage device, which prevent the rolling elements from touching the support when the massage device is placed on a flat surface. In this way, after a massage using ointments, it is avoided that ointment residues remaining on the massage roller get onto the support surface.
  • the drawing shows an exemplary embodiment and some application examples of the massage device according to the invention, namely:
  • 6 to 9 schematically show four different rolling element settings for carrying out different massage programs.
  • the massage device consists essentially of a massage roller 1, which can be freely rotated on an axis 2, and handles 3 at the free ends of the axis 2.
  • the massage roller 1 in the present example consists of nine disk-shaped rolling elements 4 assembled with profiled tread 5, which are of identical design and can be rotated relative to one another.
  • a compression spring 9 within a cover sleeve 8, which compression springs clamp the rolling elements 4 axially against one another in a springy manner.
  • 3 support supports 10 are provided on the handles, which prevent the rolling elements 4 from coming into contact with the base when the massager is placed on a flat surface.
  • Rolling elements and handles are preferably made of plastic.
  • the profiling of the running ring 5 of the rolling element 4 shown here has a periodic course in the U direction of travel, specifically the running ring 5 has alternately wider and narrower running surface sections 11 and 12, wherein the wider tread sections 11 protrude radially from the narrower tread sections 12. With 13 the bearing bore of the rolling element 4 is designated.
  • the radially standing tread sections 11 When rolling the rolling element 4 on the body surface to be massaged, the radially standing tread sections 11 generates pressure pulses, the duration of which depends on the circumferential length and the intensity of the surface size of the tread sections 11.

  • the central angle of successive rest positions in this case is 45 ° and is therefore half, as large as the central angle of a period length of the profiling, which is 90 °.
  • two angular positions with different effects are possible, in each of which two adjacent rolling elements 4 engage one another.
  • the wider tread portions 11 of the one rolling element are axially aligned with the narrower tread portions 12 of the other rolling element (FIGS. 1, 2 and 6), while in the other fixed angular position the wider ones and the narrower tread portions 11 and 12 of both rolling elements are axially aligned (Fig. 7).
  • each roller body 4 has an annular lip 16 on one end face and an annular groove 17 receiving the annular lip 16 of the respectively adjacent roller body on the other end face.
  • the rolling elements 4 consist of plastic and the covering sleeves 8 consist of metal, it is expedient to equip the two outermost rolling elements of the massage roller 1 with a thrust bearing 18 relative to the covering sleeves 8.
  • enlarged bores 19 are provided at the ends of the bearing bore 13, which can optionally be equipped with a thrust bearing 18.
  • the thrust bearing 18 consist, for example, of an abrasion-resistant plastic.
  • the rolling element settings (programs) shown schematically in FIGS. 6 to 9 relate to a massage device according to FIGS. 1 to 5.
  • first program according to FIG. 6 wider and narrower tread sections 11 and 12 alternate in axes direction continuously.
  • This program leads to a surface vibration and kneading distribution effect during the massage.
  • second program according to FIG. 7 all of the wider tread sections 11 are axially in alignment, which leads to a pressure change depth effect during the massage.
  • Combined rolling element settings are also possible, in which e.g. the middle section of the massage roller is set according to the first program and the two outer sections are set according to the second program (Fig. 8) or vice versa (Fig. 9), whereby the axial length of the individual roller sections can still be changed in each case by using the partial program ⁇ more or fewer rolling elements are used.
  • the user of the massage device can do this by rotating the individual rolling elements to the individually different ones
  • the massage device described is suitable for self-massage, in particular for the treatment of arm, leg and body muscles, for loosening cramped tendon ligaments and for promoting blood circulation.
  • rolling elements with different diameters of the enveloping circle can be assembled to form a massage roller, the enveloping surface of which then deviates from the cylindrical shape and has, for example, a convex, concave or wavy surface line.
  • a profiling of the running ring which is asymmetrical with respect to the center plane of the rolling elements can be provided.
  • Heat-resistant and corrosion-resistant materials are preferably used for all parts of the massage device, so that the massage device is cleaned on the one hand in a washing machine and on the other hand e.g. can be warmed up in hot water.
  • the effectiveness of the massage effect can be increased by using a heated massage device.
