Definitions
- the invention relates to a catching device for subminiature connectors, which consists of a pin strip and a socket strip, each of which has a trapezoidal protective collar arranged perpendicular to a mounting plate, the catching device containing a frame provided with bevelled guide elements, which is against the socket strip supports.
- the subminiature connectors mentioned at the outset are available commercially and are used in information technology, text and data processing, measurement and control technology and for connecting peripheral devices.
- the standardized basic design of this connector family is available with solder lugs, solder pins and with angled solder pins.
- the pin headers are provided with a protective collar that protects the contacts, takes the lead and ensures the unmistakable character.
- the pin headers are mounted on a printed circuit board and the socket headers on the subrack.
- the maximum offset of these connectors is only 0.6 mm. This area may be not sufficient, because the required tolerances in the construction of the circuit boards or the developer cannot always be complied with from a manufacturing point of view. In order to still be able to make reliable contact, extensive reworking has to be carried out.
- a catching device for a socket strip is known from US Pat. No. 4,204,737.
- the counterpart of the socket strip is a printed circuit board, the contact area of which is provided on both sides with contact fingers.
- the catching device contains a frame which is provided with guide elements.
- the guide elements are beveled in the direction of the end face of the socket strip.
- the frame of this safety gear is provided with support elements. As a result, the frame is supported on the end face of the socket strip.
- the catching device is releasably but not displaceably connected by means of shoulders of the socket strip and the support elements of the frame of the catching device to the socket strip.
- this pin-socket connector Since in this arrangement a printed circuit board provided with contact fingers is used as the pin header, the catch area of this pin-socket connector is large enough without a catch device. In addition, this catching device is not slidably connected to the socket strip in the insertion direction of the pin strip, so that the pin strip must always be formed as part of a printed circuit board.
- the invention is based on the object of designing a catching device of the type mentioned at the outset in such a way that the catching area for subminiature plug-in connectors is substantially enlarged, and handling is simple.
- this catching device is adapted to the protective collar of the pin header of the subminiature plug connector by means of support elements.
- V-shaped catch hooks arranged resiliently on the frame of the catching device cover parts of the chamfered edge of the protective collar, the frame being supported by springs against the mounting plate of the pin header.
- These V-shaped catch hooks increase the catch range of the connectors. The enlargement of the catch area depends on the design of the V-shaped catch hook, especially on the bevels facing a socket strip or their projected areas.
- the floating socket strip is aligned.
- the resiliently arranged catch hooks are moved on the one hand in the direction of the frame of the catch device and, on the other hand, by means of the bevels of the catch hook facing the beveled edge of the protective collar of the pin strip in the direction of the outside of the protective collar of the pin strip.
- the V-shaped catch hooks lie on the outside of the protective collar of the male connector.
- the frame is provided with retaining hooks. which reach behind the mounting plate of the pin header. It is thereby achieved that the catching device can be plugged securely onto the protective collar of the pin header.
- the support elements are provided with V-shaped catch hooks. This reduces the space required in the frame and simplifies the construction of the safety gear. In addition, it is achieved that now at the support points at which the frame of the safety gear is adapted to the protective collar of the pin header, the force is transmitted via the safety hook to the safety gear when the plug connectors are plugged together, as a result of which the functionality is significantly improved while the frame material is reduced at the same time.
- the free ends of the bell-shaped leaf springs are provided with retaining hooks.
- the catch hooks, leaf springs and support elements are integrally connected to the frame. This makes it possible for the catching device to be manufactured in one production process.
- the safety gear is therefore a single molded part.
- a catching device 2 a pin strip 4 and a socket strip 6 of a subminature plug connector are shown.
- the pin strip 4 and the socket strip 6 each have a trapezoidal protective collar 12 or 14 arranged perpendicular to a mounting plate 8 or 10.
- the frame 16 of the catching device 2 is provided with support elements 18 resting on the protective collar 12 of the pin strip 4 and with resiliently arranged, V -shaped catch hook 20 provided.
- the V-shaped catch hooks 20 are attached to the support elements 18.
- the frame 16 of the catching device 2 is provided with retaining hooks 22 which engage behind the mounting plate 8 of the pin strip 4.
- the frame 16 is supported against the mounting plate 8 by means of bell-shaped leaf springs 24.
- the bell-shaped leaf springs 24 are each connected to the frame 16 by means of their ends.
- the bell-shaped leaf springs 24 are connected to the frame 16 in such a way that the narrow side of the bell-shaped leaf springs 24 facing the protective collar 12 of the pin strip 4 each serves as a further support element.
- the material of the bell-shaped leaf springs 24 can be spring steel or plastic. If spring steel is used as the leaf spring material, the free ends of the leaf springs are designed such that they snap into the frame 16 of the catching device 2. If plastic is used as the material of the leaf springs 24, the frame 16 is integrally connected to the leaf springs 24. In addition, the support elements 18 and the catch hook 20 are integrally connected to the frame 16. In this way, the catching device 2 can be produced as a single molded part in one production step.
- FIG. 2 shows a cross section of the catching device 2 which is plugged onto the protective collar 12 of the pin strip 4.
- the frame 16 lies on the outer surface 26 of the protective collar 12 by means of the support elements 18, the frame 16 being supported against the mounting plate 8 of the pin strip 4 by means of the bell-shaped leaf springs 24.
- the retaining hooks 22 engage behind the mounting plate 8.
- the retaining hooks 20 cover parts of the beveled edge 28 of the protective collar 12, the retaining hooks 20 being supported against the beveled edge 28 by means of the bevels 30 facing the support elements 18.
- the protective collar 14 of the socket strip 6 moves into the area delimited by the protective collar 12 of the pin strip 4.
- a force acts on the frame 16 which is directed against the spring force.
- the frame 16 is pushed in the direction of the mounting plate 8 of the pin strip 4, the catch hooks 20 respectively reaching the outer surface 26 of the protective collar 8 by means of the bevels 30 and the bevelled edge 28.
- the catching device 2 is arranged between the mounting plates 8 and 10.
- the frame 16 of the catching device 2 moves away from the mounting plate 8 by means of the bell-shaped leaf springs 24.
- the catch hooks 20 spring in front of the chamfered edge 28 of the protective collar 12 and thus cover parts of this edge 28 again. So that the frame 16 of the catch device 2 is not lost when the circuit board 32 is pulled out of a rack, the holding hooks 22 are provided. This results in a simply constructed catching device 2 for subminiature plug connectors, which is easy to assemble and significantly increases the catching area, which means that the time-consuming reworking is not necessary.
- FIG. 3 shows an advantageous embodiment of the bell-shaped leaf springs 24 of the catching device 2.
- the 24 is connected in the middle to the frame 16.
- the free ends of the leaf springs 24 are each provided with a retaining hook 22.
- This design of the leaf springs 24 results in a particularly space-saving catching device 2.
