Abstract

The rotating head comprises a predetermined number of blades being supported by a blade carrier arm (3), the latter being integral with the shaft (1). The blades are arranged on a vertical axis in suitably inclined positions, a fact which permits to carry out the automatic coating of the surface of the material by means of every type of material based on marble, stone and the like by means of every type of putty.

Description

This invention relates to the construction of a rolling head provided with inclined spatulas and orientable on their own vertical axis, for the automatic chewing of the surfaces of stony materials by means of any type of sealant, both cementitious and resinous.

There are several devices for spreading concrete and other similar materials. The publication FR-A-2,485,597, corresponding to the preamble of claim 1 which shows the invention, refers by way of example to a device for spreading a filling material, for example concrete. The device in question is provided with a rotating part moving on a horizontal plane, for spreading by means of a trowel.

Les publications DE-A-2733419, FR-A-1195455, DE-A-2035465 et US-A-3130653 aussi se réfèrent à l'étalement du béton et de produits similaires.The publications DE-A-2733419, FR-A-1195455, DE-A-2035465 and US-A-3130653 also refer to the spreading of concrete and similar products.

It is known that the current technique provides the possibility of chewing surfaces of stony material only when this chewing is carried out using a cement-based binder.
In the case of resinous binders, devices provided with spatulas must be used, moving alternately as well as rotating.

In the first case as well as in the second one must however use containment devices in order to avoid the flow of the putty, which tends to escape the action of the spatulas.

It has in fact been noted that when a spatula entraining the putty passes over a cavity of the marble, it will cause part of the putty to enter there, thereby effecting a compacting action.

The excess part will tend to return to the areas where the spatula has already passed.

The time used by the sealant for this return movement will depend on the viscosity of the sealant itself.

When the sealant has reached a state of equilibrium during the "waiting time", the filled cavity will be covered by an excess quantity of sealant, the free surface of which will have a convex shape.

It has been noted that it is not possible to pass another spatula over the cavity without modifying the degree of filling, only when this equilibrium has been reached.

Indeed, if a spatula were to pass over the cavity before the putty reached this balance in the cavity itself, a certain amount of putty would be removed, and the cavity would not be perfectly filled.

In the device which is the object of this invention, the spatulas, each supported by a spatula holder arm 3 secured to the shaft 1, are mounted in a radial arrangement, at a certain interval one relative to the other. The speed of rotation of the disc will be such that it can allow, once filled a cavity, the following passage of spatulas does not modify the correct filling of the cavity.

We also noticed that it will be good that the lower edge of the spatula tending to send the putty to the outside is barbed, so as to increase the specific pressure on the surface to be chewed.

The number of revolutions of the rolling head depends on the number of spatulas and the viscosity of the putty.

  • la fig.2 (planche 2/2) représente le profil d'une spatule montée sur le bras porte-spatules, dont on peut voir une partie;
  • la fig.3 représente, en perspective, une spatule aubord barbelé, avec ses dispositifs de bloquage;
  • la fig.4 représente, encore en perspective, une spatule aubord lisse, pourvue de dispositifs de fixation;
The rotation speed will obviously have to be lower in the case of very viscous sealants, compared to more fluid sealants. The subject invention is described in detail below using the accompanying drawings, including:
  • fig.1 (board 1/2), shows the schematic side view of the rolling head, partially sectioned.
  • fig.2 (plate 2/2) shows the profile of a spatula mounted on the spatula holder arm, part of which can be seen;
  • Fig.3 shows, in perspective, a spatula barbed edge, with its locking devices;
  • Fig.4 shows, still in perspective, a spatula smooth edge, provided with fixing devices;
  • fig. 5 shows the arrangement diagram of a few radial spatulas, on their spatula arms.

As will be seen, in FIG. 1 in particular, the rolling head is provided with an arm 1, rotated by a variable speed drive 2, the speed of which is adjusted as a function of the diameter of rotation of the spatulas 4.

The geared motor 5 causes, by means of the screw 6, the vertical displacement of the head relative to the guides 7, thus allowing the lifting of the spatula holder arms 3 with and of the spatulas 4.

Each spatula 4 (fig.2) is locked between two semi-cylindrical jaws 8 and 9, held by a vice 10 (fig.3) mounted on a spatula holder arm 3 using small nuts 11 and 12, which allow to change the direction of the spatula with respect to the radial direction of the spatula holder arm 3.

Two series of holes 13 and 14, formed for example of three holes each, were made on the vice (fig.3) in order to allow the longitudinal movement of the vice 10 in the radial direction of the arm 3.

The direction of each spatula can be changed in an angular direction thanks to holes 15 and 16 (fig. 5) through which the nuts 11 and 12 fixing the vice 10 are passed.

We can notice that, while the spatulas 4 of fig.3 have a barbed edge, the spatulas of fig. 4 have a smooth edge.

The spatulas 4 as well as the spatulas 4 'are mounted in such a way as to allow them to be placed in different directions relative to the radial direction of the arm 3, by virtue of the circular sector grooves 15 and 16, which make it possible to change their position .

In particular, the spatulas 4 should be placed so as to tend to send the putty outwards, while the spatulas 4 'tend to bring it closer to the center of the rolling head, the direction of rotation of which is indicated by the arrow 17 .

This will prevent the sealant from being forced outward or inward from the surface to be stuccoed.

Each spatula 4 and 4 'is taken between two semi-cylindrical jaws 8 and 9 which can be tilted if necessary relative to the work surface 18 (fig. 1).
The pins 19 and 20 prevent accidental extraction of the spatulas 4 and 4 'from the vice 10.
Obviously the spatulas 4 and 4 'tilt during work by turning until they press against the edge of the vice 10 (see sketched drawing in fig. 2). This is to exert constant pressure on the plate to be worked.
