Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a ski boot comprising a shell of rigid material consisting of a lower part comprising the sole and surrounding the foot and at least one upper part articulated on the lower part around a transverse axis of such so that it can tilt forwards, an elastic member being arranged between said articulated upper part and said lower part of the shell so as to offer an elastic resistance to the inclination of the upper part towards the 'before.
  • the present invention aims to achieve a shoe comprising at the front an elastic resistance to adjustable flexion, produced by simple means and of small size, in particular not comprising a helical spring.
  • the ski boot according to the invention is characterized in that the elastic member consists of at least one elongated part working in buckling and that adjustment means are provided for modifying the length of the part working in buckling of the elastic piece.
  • the elongated elastic piece can be as well of elastomer, as of metal or in mineral material such as fiberglass or carbon.
  • the modification of the length of the part working in buckling can be done simply by means of a cursor acting directly on the elastic member in order to limit more or less the length of the part working in buckling.
  • the ski boot shown in Figure 1 comprises a semi-rigid plastic shell consisting of a lower part 1 comprising the sole and surrounding the foot and the heel and of two upper parts 2 and 3 articulated on the lower part 1 around about a transverse axis 4 at the level of the articulation of the foot.
  • These parts 2 and 3 are of approximately semi-cylindrical shape and fit into one another to surround the ankle of the skier. They are kept closed by a loop 5 of known type.
  • the rear articulated part 3 can be tilted back so as to allow the shoe to be put on. Inside the shoe is disposed a bootie 6 of compressible and soft material.
  • the upper parts 2 and 3 being articulated on the lower part 1, they can tilt forward when skiing. Opposed to this inclination is the elastic resistance of an elastic device mounted in a housing 7 fixed to the upper part of the shell 1 or coming in one piece with this part 1.
  • the housing 7 defines a rectangular housing 8 closed by a cover 9.
  • These elastic bars 10 and 11 are supported by one of their ends against a front wall of the housing 8, while on their other ends is supported a pusher 11 transmitting the force of the articulated part 2 of the shell to the elastic bars 10 and 11.
  • This pusher 12 has a front face 12a parallel to the bearing surface 13 of the lower edge of the articulated part 2 of the shell.
  • the pusher 12 also has a protruding middle part 12b engaging between the elastic bars 10 and 11 and an opposite protruding middle part 12c engaging in the part 2 of the shell for lateral retention of the pusher.
  • the outer sides of the elastic bars 10 and 11 have a depression 10a respectively 11 a which creates an asymmetry relative to the axis of the bars, so that when an axial pressure is exerted on these bars by means of the pusher 12, the bars elastic 10 and 11 tend to flame always in the same direction, that is to say towards the inside of the housing 8. In the position shown in FIG. 2, the elastic bars 10 and 11 have the possibility of flaming on their entire length.
  • a rigid stud 13 preferably made of plastic, housed in an axial extension of the lo gement 8.
  • This stud 13 is integral with a threaded rod 14 fixed in rotation, on which is mounted a nut 15 in the form of a wheel disposed in an open housing in which it is retained axially, but can rotate freely.
  • the wheel 15 protrudes slightly from the boot as shown in FIG. 1, so that it can be actuated by the skier. Its actuation makes it possible to move the stud 13 in the direction of the arrow F1 to bring it between the elastic bars 10 and 11 with a slight play.
  • the introduction of the stud 13 between the elastic bars 10 and 11 has the effect of preventing part of these bars and buckle, and consequently to increase the buckling resistance of bars 10 and 11.
  • This increase in buckling resistance results in an increase in elastic force opposing the forward pivoting of part 2 of the hull.
  • the stud 13 therefore constitutes a slider enabling the elastic resistance of the elastic member opposing the attachment of the skier's leg to be adjusted in a simple and fine manner.
  • Figures 3, 4 and 5 show a variant of the slider allowing faster adjustment.
  • the identical or analogous parts to the first embodiment are designated by the same references as in FIG. 2.
  • the length of the bars 10 and 11 working in buckling is adjusted by means of a stud 16 consisting of an inverted U-shaped piece in which is housed a piece 17 also having a U-shaped profile directed in the other direction and provided with 4 vertical studs 18, 19, 20 and 21 crossing vertically and freely 4 holes corresponding 22, 23, 24 and 25 formed in the upper face of the stud 16.
  • a plate 26 constituting a pusher.
  • the part 17 is also traversed by a longitudinal metal rod 29 provided with a toothing, for example a simple threaded rod, fixed by one of its ends in the lower end 7a of the housing 7.
  • the other end of the threaded rod 29 engages freely in a passage 30 formed in the pusher 12.
  • the rod 29 is fixed at a level such that the toothing 28 of the part 17 is engaged in the toothing of the rod 29 under the effect of the spring 27.
  • the stud 16 is consequently immobilized on the rod 29.
  • the cover 9 has a longitudinal rectangular slot 31 of width equal to that of the pusher 26 to allow movement of the stud 16.
  • the elastic member is constituted by a rubber plate 32 of rectangular parallelepiped shape but the lower face of which has a depression 32a creating an axial asymmetry so that the buckling of the bag 32 is always upwards.
  • This plate is mounted in a housing 33 formed in a base 34 attached to the shell 1 or come in one piece with this shell, in the same way as the housing 7.
  • the thrust of the articulated part 2 of the shell is transmitted by a plunger 35 of generally rectangular shape and provided with a rectangular notch 36 in which the elastic plate 32 engages.
  • the housing 33 is closed by a cover 37 fixed to the base 34 by any known means such as gluing, welding, notching or by means of screws.
  • This cover 7 has a longitudinal axial slot 38 crossed by a slider 39, the inner part of which has a T-shaped transverse widening extending under the cover 37.
  • a plate 41 made of compressed elastic material, which tends to hold the enlarged part 40 of the cursor against the inner wall of the cover 37.
  • This part of the wall is provided with a toothing 42 cooperating with teeth 43 provided on the enlarged part 40 of the cursor.
  • To release the cursor simply press the cursor which can then be moved axially along the slot 38.
  • the elastic plate 32 has been shown in the compressed position. We see that the left part of the plate 32 cannot flame because it is retained by the cursor. By moving the slider we can thus vary the length likely to buckle.
  • the enlarged part 40 slightly compresses, at rest, the plate 32 which keeps the teeth 43 in engagement with the teeth 42. The plate 32 thus replaces the auxiliary plate 41.
  • Figure 8 shows again a complete shoe similar to the shoe shown in Figure 1 with regard to the shell and the closure loop 5
  • the housing 8 provided for two rubber bars identical to the bars 10 and 11 is formed in a base 43 attached to the shell 1.
  • This housing is closed by a cover 44 having on its upper face a longitudinal groove 45 having a tail profile dovetail.
  • a slide 46 elongated with the same profile as the groove 45 and covering in any position a longitudinal slot 47 made axially in the cover 44 and visible in FIG. 9.
  • the slide 46 carries in its center a pusher 48 passing through the slot 47 and having at its lower end a bulb-shaped head 48a retained in a housing 49 in the form of a clamp of a stud 50 made of plastic. All the parts described so far are preferably made of synthetic material. Under the head of the pusher 48 is housed a seal 51 made of easily compressible synthetic material. At its lower part, the stud 50 has a flexible curved tongue 52, coming in one piece with the stud 50, and pressing, under bending, against the shell 1. This elastic tongue 52 acts as a compression spring and has tendency to apply the stud 5 against the cover 44.
  • the inner face of the cover is provided with a toothing 53 in which two transverse teeth 54 and 55 of the stud 50 engage.
  • To move the stud 50 it suffices to press on the pusher 48 and to move the slider or cursor 46.
  • One of the extreme positions of the stud 5 is shown in solid lines while the other extreme position is shown in phantom. This execution requires no metal parts and does not leave any hole through which snow could enter the housing containing the rubber elements.
  • the invention is susceptible of numerous variants.
  • the elongated elastic pieces working in buckling could be made of inorganic material, for example steel or mineral fiber.
  • the axial asymmetry of the elastic parts can be obtained by many forms.
  • a simple way to obtain asymmetry is to give a bevel shape to at least one of the ends of the bars or plates or to give a slight initial curvature to the elastic piece.
