Definitions
- the invention relates to the alkaline delignification of sulfate pulps with oxygen, which is preceded by a treatment with oxygen and hydrogen peroxide in an acidic medium.
- the pulps obtained chemically, e.g. accruing from the sulfite process or the alkaline baking soda or sulfate process contain, in addition to the main component cellulose, small amounts of lignin, hemicelluloses and some other components.
- the accompanying cellulose substances, especially lignin, cause discoloration of the cellulose or of products made from it.
- the object of the invention is a method for achieving a high degree of delignification by treating the pulp with oxygen while at the same time resulting in high strengths.
- the invention relates to a two-stage process for the delignification of pulps produced under alkaline or neutral conditions (sulfate pulps) with oxygen and hydrogen peroxide, characterized in that the pulp is pretreated at a pH ⁇ 5 simultaneously with oxygen and hydrogen peroxide and then with oxygen in alkaline medium further delignified.
- oxygen and hydrogen peroxide are allowed to act only briefly, ie 60 seconds to 60 minutes, preferably 4 to 30 minutes, on the pulp in an acidic medium.
- Oxygen delignification in the alkaline medium in the presence of NaOH as base is carried out according to the prior art at 90-120 ° C. and an oxygen pressure of 0.1 to 0.5 MPa.
- the change between the acid pretreatment and the alkaline delignification with oxygen can by switching on a diffusion wash so that only slightly more steam and wash water is required.
- the procedure without intermediate washing, in which more alkali is required to neutralize the acidic stage, on the other hand has the advantage of being able to consume both excess oxygen and hydrogen peroxide from the pretreatment stage in the further stage.
- the steam requirement is then not increased compared to standard delignification.
- the higher alkali requirement can be covered by causticized white liquor. Since the wastewater is returned to the oxygen stage, there is no overall higher chemical requirement.

Abstract
Description
-
